< 1 Chronicles 11 >

1 And all Israel is gathered to David at Hebron, saying, “Behold, we [are] your bone and your flesh;

Tutti gli Israeliti si raccolsero intorno a Davide in Ebron e gli dissero: «Ecco noi siamo tue ossa e tua carne.

2 even in time past, even in Saul’s being king, it is you who are taking out and bringing in Israel, and your God YHWH says to you: You feed My people Israel, and you are leader over My people Israel.”

Anche prima, quando regnava Saul, tu guidavi nei movimenti le truppe di Israele. Inoltre il Signore tuo Dio ti ha detto: Tu pascerai il mio popolo, Israele; tu sarai capo del mio popolo Israele».

3 And all [the] elderly of Israel come to the king at Hebron, and David makes a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH, and they anoint David for king over Israel, according to the word of YHWH by the hand of Samuel.

Tutti gli anziani di Israele si presentarono al re in Ebron. Davide concluse con loro un'alleanza in Ebron davanti al Signore. Con l'unzione consacrarono Davide re su Israele, secondo la parola pronunziata dal Signore per mezzo di Samuele.

4 And David goes, and all Israel, to Jerusalem—it [is] Jebus—and the Jebusite [is] there, the inhabitants of the land.

Davide con tutto Israele marciò contro Gerusalemme, cioè Gebus, ove c'erano i Gebusei, abitanti del paese.

5 And the inhabitants of Jebus say to David, “You do not come in here”; and David captures the fortress of Zion—it [is] the City of David.

Ma gli abitanti di Gebus dissero a Davide: «Tu qui non entrerai». Ma Davide prese la cittadella di Sion, che è la città di Davide.

6 And David says, “Whoever strikes the Jebusite first becomes head and prince”; and Joab son of Zeruiah goes up first and becomes head.

Davide aveva detto: «Chi colpirà per primo i Gebusei diventerà capo e principe». Salì per primo Ioab, figlio di Zeruià, che divenne così capo.

7 And David dwells in the fortress, therefore they have called it the City of David;

Davide si stabilì nella cittadella, che perciò fu chiamata città di Davide.

8 and he builds the city all around, from Millo, and to the circumference, and Joab restores the rest of the city.

Egli fortificò la città tutt'intorno, dal Millo per tutto il suo perimetro; Ioab restaurò il resto della città.

9 And David goes, going on and becoming great, and YHWH of Hosts [is] with him.

Davide cresceva sempre più in potenza e il Signore degli eserciti era con lui.

10 And these [are] heads of the mighty ones whom David has, who are strengthening themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to cause him to reign, according to the word of YHWH, over Israel.

Questi sono i capi dei prodi di Davide, che si erano affermati con il valore nel suo regno e che, insieme con tutto Israele, lo avevano costituito re, secondo la parola del Signore nei riguardi di Israele.

11 And this [is] an account of the mighty ones whom David has: Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite [is] head of the thirty; he is lifting up his spear against three hundred—wounded, at one time.

Ecco l'elenco dei prodi di Davide: Iasobeam figlio di un Cacmonita, capo dei Tre; egli brandì la lancia su trecento vittime in una sola volta.

12 And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, he [is] among the three mighty;

Dopo di lui c'era Eleàzaro figlio di Dodo, l'Acochita; era uno dei tre prodi.

13 he has been with David in Pas-Dammim, and the Philistines have been gathered there to battle, and a portion of the field is full of barley, and the people have fled from the face of the Philistines,

Egli fu con Davide in Pas-Dammim. I Filistei vi si erano riuniti per combattere; c'era un campo pieno di orzo. La truppa fuggì di fronte ai Filistei.

14 and they station themselves in the midst of the portion, and deliver it, and strike the Philistines, and YHWH saves [with] a great salvation.

Egli allora si appostò in mezzo al campo, lo difese e sconfisse i Filistei; così il Signore operò una grande vittoria.

15 And three of the thirty heads go down on the rock to David, to the cave of Adullam, and the host of the Philistines is encamping in the Valley of Rephaim,

Scesero tre dei trenta capi sulla roccia presso Davide, nella fortezza di Adullàm; il campo dei Filistei si estendeva nella valle di Rèfaim.

16 and David [is] then in the fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,

Davide era nella fortezza, mentre un presidio di Filistei era in Betlemme.

17 and David longs and says, “Who gives me water to drink from the well of Beth-Lehem that [is] at the gate!”

Davide ebbe un desiderio che espresse a parole: «Potessi bere l'acqua della cisterna che sta alla porta di Betlemme!».

18 And the three break through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water from the well of Beth-Lehem that [is] at the gate, and carry and bring [it] to David, and David has not been willing to drink it, and pours it out to YHWH,

I tre attraversarono il campo dei Filistei, attinsero l'acqua dalla cisterna che era alla porta di Betlemme e la portarono a Davide, ma egli non volle berla; la versò in libazione al Signore.

19 and says, “Far be it from me, by my God, to do this; do I drink the blood of these men with their lives? For with their lives they have brought it”; and he was not willing to drink it; these [things] the three mighty ones did.

Egli disse: «Mi guardi il mio Dio dal compiere una cosa simile. Dovrei bere il sangue di quegli uomini insieme con la loro vita? Difatti l'hanno portata a rischio della propria vita». Non volle berla. Tali gesta compirono i tre prodi.

20 And Abishai brother of Joab, he has been head of the three: and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred—wounded, and has a name among three.

Abisài fratello di Ioab era capo dei Trenta. Egli brandì la lancia contro trecento vittime e così divenne famoso fra i Trenta.

21 Of the three he is more honored than the [other] two, and becomes their head; but he has not come to the [first] three.

Fu stimato doppiamente fra i Trenta; divenne loro capo, ma non giunse ad eguagliare i Tre.

22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valor, of great deeds, from Kabzeel: he has struck the two lion-like Moabites, and he has gone down and struck the lion in the midst of the pit, in the day of snow.

Benaià, da Kabzeèl, era figlio di Ioiadà, uomo valoroso e pieno di prodezze. Egli uccise i due figli di Arièl di Moab; inoltre, sceso in una cisterna in un giorno di neve, vi uccise un leone.

23 And he has struck the man, the Egyptian, a man of [great] measure—five by the cubit—and in the hand of the Egyptian [is] a spear like a weavers’ beam, and he goes down to him with a rod, and violently takes away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slays him with his own spear.

Egli uccise anche un Egiziano alto cinque cubiti, il quale aveva in mano una lancia come un subbio di tessitore; gli andò incontro con un bastone, strappò la lancia dalla mano dell'Egiziano e lo uccise con la stessa lancia.

24 These [things] Benaiah son of Jehoiada has done, and has a name among the three mighty ones.

Tale gesta compì Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà; egli divenne famoso fra i trenta prodi.

25 Of the thirty, behold, he [is] honored, but he has not come to the [first] three, and David sets him over his guard.

Fra i Trenta fu molto stimato, ma non giunse a eguagliare i Tre. Davide lo mise a capo della sua guardia del corpo.

26 And the mighty ones of the forces [are] Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,

Ecco i prodi valorosi: Asaèl fratello di Ioab, Elcanan figlio di Dodo, di Betlemme,

27 Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

Sammòt di Charod, Chelez di Pelet,

28 Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-Ezer the Annethothite,

Ira figlio di Ikkes di Tekòa, Abièzer di Anatòt,

29 Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

Sibbekai di Cusa, Ilai di Acoch,
