Psalms 52
1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God [endureth] continually.
Au maître-chantre. — Hymne de David, lorsque Doëg, l'Édomite, vint avertir Saül, et lui dit: «David est entré dans la maison d'Ahimélec.» Pourquoi te glorifies-tu de ta méchanceté, homme puissant? La bonté de Dieu dure éternellement.
2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Ta langue est pareille au rasoir affilé: Elle ne médite que des ruines, ô artisan de fraudes!
3 Thou lovest evil more than good; [and] lying rather than to speak righteousness. (Selah)
Tu aimes mieux le mal que le bien; Tu préfères le mensonge à la sincérité. (Pause)
4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O [thou] deceitful tongue.
Tu n'aimes que les paroles pernicieuses, Langue perfide!
5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of [thy] dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. (Selah)
C'est pourquoi, Dieu te détruira pour toujours; Il te saisira et t'arrachera de ta tente. Il te déracinera de la terre des vivants. (Pause)
6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
Les justes verront ta ruine, et ils auront de la crainte. Ils riront à ton sujet:
7 Lo, [this is] the man [that] made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, [and] strengthened himself in his wickedness.
«Le voilà, l'homme qui n'a point pris Dieu pour rempart, Qui s'est confié dans ses grandes richesses. Et qui s'est prévalu de sa méchanceté!»
8 But I [am] like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
Mais moi, je suis comme un olivier verdoyant Dans la maison de Dieu; Je me confie en la bonté de Dieu, éternellement, à perpétuité.
9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done [it: ] and I will wait on thy name; for [it is] good before thy saints.
Je te célébrerai toujours, parce que tu auras fait ton oeuvre. Et j'espérerai en ton nom, en présence de tes fidèles; Car tu es bon!
