Psalms 66
1 Make a joyful noise to God, all you lands:
Voor muziekbegeleiding. Een lied; een psalm.
2 Sing forth the honor of his name: make his praise glorious.
Juich, heel de aarde, God ter ere, En prijs de glans van zijn Naam; Hef een heerlijk loflied aan,
3 Say to God, How terrible are you in your works! through the greatness of your power shall your enemies submit themselves to you.
En zeg tot God: Hoe ontzaglijk uw werken! Om uw almacht moeten uw vijanden U vleien,
4 All the earth shall worship you, and shall sing to you; they shall sing to your name. (Selah)
En moet heel de aarde U aanbidden, U ter eer een lofzang zingen, Glorie brengen aan uw Naam!
5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
Komt, en ziet de werken van God, Zijn wondere daden voor de kinderen der mensen:
6 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
De zee legde Hij droog, En ze trokken te voet door de stroom! Laat ons in Hem ons verheugen,
7 He rules by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. (Selah)
Hij, die eeuwig heerst door zijn kracht; Hij houdt zijn oog op de volkeren gericht, En geen weerspannige durft tegen Hem opstaan.
8 O bless our God, you people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
Zegent, volkeren, onzen God, Laat zijn loflied luid weerschallen;
9 Which holds our soul in life, and suffers not our feet to be moved.
Hij is het, die ons in het leven hield, Onze voet niet liet wankelen.
10 For you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried.
Toch hebt Gij ons beproefd, o mijn God, Ons gelouterd, als men zilver loutert;
11 You brought us into the net; you laid affliction on our loins.
Gij hebt ons in ellende gedompeld, Ons rampen op de heupen gelegd.
12 You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but you brought us out into a wealthy place.
Gij hebt anderen ons op het hoofd doen zitten, We zijn door vuur en water gegaan: Maar eindelijk toch Hebt Gij ons uitkomst gebracht.
13 I will go into your house with burnt offerings: I will pay you my vows,
Zo treed ik met offers binnen uw huis, Om te volbrengen wat ik U heb beloofd:
14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth has spoken, when I was in trouble.
Wat mijn lippen hebben gesproken, Wat mijn mond in mijn nood heeft gezegd.
15 I will offer to you burnt sacrifices of fatted calves, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. (Selah)
Vette lammeren draag ik U Als brandoffers op; En met de offergeur van rammen, Bied ik U runderen en bokken aan.
16 Come and hear, all you that fear God, and I will declare what he has done for my soul.
Komt nu en hoort, ik wil u allen verkonden, U, die God vreest, wat Hij aan mij heeft gedaan:
17 I cried to him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
Nauwelijks riep ik Hem aan met mijn mond, Of ik had een danklied op mijn tong!
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Was ik mij kwaad bewust in mijn hart, Dan had de Heer mij niet verhoord:
19 But truly God has heard me; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Maar nu heeft God naar mij geluisterd, En op mijn smeken gelet!
20 Blessed be God, which has not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
Gezegend zij God, die mijn bede niet afwees, Mij zijn genade niet onthield!
