Psalms 96
1 O sing unto the LORD a new song; sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
Syng Herren ein ny song, syng for Herren, all jordi!
2 Sing unto the LORD, bless His name; proclaim His salvation from day to day.
Syng for Herren, lova hans namn, forkynn frå dag til dag hans frelsa!
3 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.
Fortel millom heidningar hans æra, millom alle folkeslag hans under!
4 For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
For Herren er stor og mykje lovsungen, skræmeleg er han framfor alle gudar.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are things of nought; but the LORD made the heavens.
For alle gudar hjå folki er avgudar; men Herren hev gjort himmelen.
6 Honour and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
Høgd og herlegdom er for hans åsyn, styrke og prydnad i hans heilagdom.
7 Ascribe unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the peoples, ascribe unto the LORD glory and strength.
Gjev Herren, de folke-ætter, gjev Herren æra og magt!
8 Ascribe unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts.
Gjev Herren hans namns æra, tak gåvor med og kom i hans fyregardar!
9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.
Tilbed Herren i heilagt skrud, skjelv for hans åsyn, all jordi!
10 Say among the nations: 'The LORD reigneth.' The world also is established that it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity.
Seg millom heidningarne: «Herren er konge, og jordriket stend fast, det let seg ikkje rikka; han dømer folki med rettvisa.»
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;
Himmelen glede seg, og jordi fagne seg, havet dure og alt som i det er!
12 Let the field exult; and all that is therein; then shall all the trees of the wood sing for joy;
Marki frygde seg og alt det som på marki er! Då fegnast alle tre i skogen
13 Before the LORD, for He is come; for He is come to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples in His faithfulness.
for Herrens åsyn; for han kjem, for han kjem til å døma jordi; han skal døma jordriket med rettferd og folki i sin truskap.
