< Proverbs 20 >

6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness; but a faithful man who can find?

10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
Dvojaki utezi i dvojaka mjera mrski su Jahvi podjednako.
11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
I dijete se poznaje po onome što čini, je li čisto i pravedno djelo njegovo.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
I uho koje čuje i oko koje vidi, oboje je Jahve načinio.
13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt have bread in plenty.
Ne ljubi sna, da ne osiromašiš; otvori oči svoje i nasitit ćeš se kruha.

24 A man's goings are of the LORD; how then can man look to his way?
Od Jahve su koraci čovječji, i kako da čovjek razumije svoj put?

28 Mercy and truth preserve the king; and his throne is upheld by mercy.
Dobrota i vjernost čuvaju kralja, jer dobrotom utvrđuje prijestol svoj.
29 The glory of young men is their strength; and the beauty of old men is the hoary head.
Ljepota je mladićima njihova snaga, a starcima je ures sijeda kosa.
30 Sharp wounds cleanse away evil; so do stripes that reach the inward parts.
Krvave masnice očiste zlo i udarci pročiste odaje utrobe.
