Psalms 21
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The King shall reioyce in thy strength, O Lord: yea how greatly shall he reioyce in thy saluation!
Dem Sangmeister. Ein Psalm Davids.
2 Thou hast giuen him his hearts desire, and hast not denyed him the request of his lips. (Selah)
(Der levitische Sängerchor: ) / Ob deiner Macht, o Jahwe, freut sich der König / Und ob deiner Hilfe — wie jauchzt er so sehr!
3 For thou diddest preuent him with liberall blessings, and didest set a crowne of pure gold vpon his head.
Seines Herzens Verlangen hast du ihm erfüllt, / Seiner Lippen Begehren ihm nicht versagt. (Sela)
4 He asked life of thee, and thou gauest him a long life for euer and euer.
Ja, reichsten Segen hast du ihm geschenkt, / Ihm aufs Haupt gesetzt eine Krone von Gold.
5 His glory is great in thy saluation: dignitie and honour hast thou laid vpon him.
Um Leben bat er — du gabst es ihm, / Langes Leben für immer und ewig.
6 For thou hast set him as blessings for euer: thou hast made him glad with the ioy of thy countenance.
Durch deine Hilfe ist groß sein Ruhm, / Glanz und Hoheit legst du auf ihn.
7 Because the King trusteth in the Lord, and in the mercie of the most High, he shall not slide.
Ja, du machst ihn zum Segen auf ewig, / Erfüllest ihn mit Freude vor dir.
8 Thine hand shall finde out all thine enemies, and thy right hand shall finde out them that hate thee.
(Eine Einzelstimme: ) / Denn der König vertrauet auf Jahwe, / Durch des Höchsten Gnade wanket er nicht.
9 Thou shalt make them like a fierie ouen in time of thine anger: the Lord shall destroy them in his wrath, and the fire shall deuoure them.
Deine Hand wird treffen all deine Feinde, / Deine Rechte erreichen, die dich hassen.
10 Their fruite shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seede from the children of men.
Du machst sie gleich einem Feuerofen, wenn du erscheinst. / Jahwe verderbt sie in seinem Zorn, / Und Feuer wird sie verzehren.
11 For they intended euill against thee, and imagined mischiefe, but they shall not preuaile.
Ihre Kinder wirst du von der Erde vertilgen, / Ihr Geschlecht von den Menschen ausrotten.
12 Therefore shalt thou put them aparte, and the strings of thy bowe shalt thou make readie against their faces.
Sinnen sie Böses wider dich, / Erdenken sie Tücke — es ist umsonst!
13 Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy strength: so will we sing and prayse thy power.
Denn du schlägst sie in die Flucht, / Deine Pfeile richtest du gegen sie. (Schlußruf des ganzen Sängerchors: ) / Erheb dich, Jahwe, in deiner Macht! / Dann preisen wir singend deine Kraft.
