Proverbs 11
1 False balances are an abomination vnto the Lord: but a perfite weight pleaseth him.
Falsk våg är en styggelse för HERREN, men full vikt behagar honom väl.
2 When pride commeth, then commeth shame: but with the lowly is wisdome.
När högfärd kommer, kommer ock smälek, men hos de ödmjuka är vishet.
3 The vprightnes of the iust shall guide them: but the frowardnes of the transgressers shall destroy them.
De redligas ostrafflighet vägleder dem, men de trolösas vrånghet är dem till fördärv.
4 Riches auaile not in the day of wrath: but righteousnes deliuereth from death.
Gods hjälper intet på vredens dag men rättfärdighet räddar från döden.
5 The righteousnes of the vpright shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall in his owne wickednes.
Den ostraffliges rättfärdighet gör hans väg jämn, men genom sin ogudaktighet faller den ogudaktige.
6 The righteousnesse of the iust shall deliuer them: but the transgressers shall be taken in their owne wickednes.
De redligas rättfärdighet räddar dem, men de trolösa fångas genom sin egen lystnad.
7 When a wicked man dieth, his hope perisheth, and the hope of the vniust shall perish.
När en ogudaktig dör, varder hans hopp om intet; ja, ondskans väntan bliver om intet.
8 The righteous escapeth out of trouble, and the wicked shall come in his steade.
Den rättfärdige räddas ur nöden, och den ogudaktige får träda i hans ställe.
9 An hypocrite with his mouth hurteth his neighbour: but the righteous shall be deliuered by knowledge.
Genom sin mun fördärvar den gudlöse sin nästa, men genom sitt förstånd bliva de rättfärdiga räddade.
10 In the prosperitie of the righteous the citie reioyceth, and when the wicked perish, there is ioye.
När det går de rättfärdiga väl, fröjdar sig staden, och när de ogudaktiga förgås, råder jubel.
11 By the blessing of the righteous, the citie is exalted: but it is subuerted by the mouth of the wicked.
Genom de redligas välsignelse varder en stad upphöjd, men genom de ogudaktigas mun brytes den ned.
12 He that despiseth his neighbour, is destitute of wisedome: but a man of vnderstanding will keepe silence.
Den är utan vett, som visar förakt för sin nästa; en man med förstånd tiger stilla.
13 Hee that goeth about as a slanderer, discouereth a secret: but hee that is of a faithfull heart concealeth a matter.
Den som går med förtal, han förråder din hemlighet, den som har ett trofast hjärta döljer vad han får veta.
14 Where no counsell is, the people fall: but where many counsellers are, there is health.
Där ingen rådklokhet finnes kommer folket på fall, där de rådvisa äro många, där går det väl.
15 Hee shall be sore vexed, that is suretie for a stranger, and he that hateth suretiship, is sure.
En som går i borgen för en annan, honom går det illa, den som skyr att giva handslag, han är trygg.
16 A gracious woman atteineth honour, and the strong men atteine riches.
En skön kvinna vinner ära, och våldsverkare vinna rikedom.
17 Hee that is mercifull, rewardeth his owne soule: but he that troubleth his own flesh, is cruel.
En barmhärtig man gör väl mot sig själv men den grymme misshandlar sitt eget kött.
18 The wicked worketh a deceitful worke: but hee that soweth righteousnes, shall receiue a sure rewarde.
Den ogudaktige gör en bedräglig vinst, men den som utsår rättfärdighet får en säker lön.
19 As righteousnes leadeth to life: so hee that followeth euill, seeketh his owne death.
Den som står fast i rättfärdighet, han vinner liv, men den som far efter ont drager över sig död.
20 They that are of a froward heart, are abomination to the Lord: but they that are vpright in their way, are his delite.
En styggelse för HERREN äro de vrånghjärtade, men de vilkas väg är ostrafflig behaga honom väl.
21 Though hande ioyne in hande, the wicked shall not be vnpunished: but the seede of the righteous shall escape.
De onda bliva förvisso icke ostraffade, men de rättfärdigas avkomma får gå fri.
22 As a iewell of golde in a swines snoute: so is a faire woman, which lacketh discretion.
Såsom en gyllene ring i svinets tryne, så är skönhet hos en kvinna som saknar vett.
23 The desire of the righteous is onely good: but the hope of the wicked is indignation.
Vad de rättfärdiga önska får i allo en god fullbordan, men vad de ogudaktiga kunna hoppas är vrede.
24 There is that scattereth, and is more increased: but hee that spareth more then is right, surely commeth to pouertie.
Den ene utströr och får dock mer, den andre spar över hövan, men bliver allenast fattigare.
25 The liberall person shall haue plentie: and he that watereth, shall also haue raine.
Den frikostige varder rikligen mättad, och den som vederkvicker andra, han bliver själv vederkvickt.
26 He that withdraweth the corne, the people will curse him: but blessing shalbe vpon the head of him that selleth corne.
Den som håller inne sin säd, honom förbannar folket, den som lämnar ut sin säd, över hans huvud kommer välsignelse.
27 He that seeketh good things, getteth fauour: but he that seeketh euill, it shall come to him.
Den som vinnlägger sig om vad gott är, han strävar efter nåd, men den son söker vad ont är, över honom kommer ock ont.
28 He that trusteth in his riches, shall fall: but the righteous shall florish as a leafe.
Den som förtröstar på sin rikedom, han kommer på fall, men de rättfärdiga skola grönska likasom löv.
29 He that troubleth his owne house, shall inherite the winde, and the foole shalbe seruant to the wise in heart.
Den som drager olycka över sitt hus, han får vind till arvedel, och den oförnuftige bliver träl åt den som har ett vist hjärta.
30 The fruite of the righteous is as a tree of life, and he that winneth soules, is wise.
Den rättfärdiges frukt är ett livets träd, och den som är vis, han vinner hjärtan.
31 Beholde, the righteous shalbe recompensed in the earth: howe much more the wicked and the sinner?
Se, den rättfärdige får sin lön på jorden; huru mycket mer då den ogudaktige och syndaren!
