Job 5
1 Call nowe, if any will answere thee, and to which of the Saintes wilt thou turne?
Chama agora; há alguém que te responda? e para qual dos santos te virarás?
2 Doubtlesse anger killeth the foolish, and enuie slayeth the idiote.
Porque a ira destrói o louco; e o zelo mata o tolo.
3 I haue seene the foolish well rooted, and suddenly I cursed his habitation, saying,
Bem vi eu o louco lançar raízes; porém logo amaldiçoei a sua habitação.
4 His children shalbe farre from saluation, and they shall be destroyed in the gate, and none shall deliuer them.
Seus filhos estão longe da salvação; e são despedaçados às portas, e não há quem os livre.
5 The hungrie shall eate vp his haruest: yea, they shall take it from among the thornes, and the thirstie shall drinke vp their substance.
A sua sega a devora o faminto, e até dentre os espinhos a tira; e o salteador traga a sua fazenda.
6 For miserie commeth not foorth of the dust, neither doeth affliction spring out of the earth.
Porque do pó não procede a aflição, nem da terra brota o trabalho.
7 But man is borne vnto trauaile, as the sparkes flie vpwarde.
Mas o homem nasce para o trabalho, como as faiscas das brazas se levantam para voarem.
8 But I would inquire at God, and turne my talke vnto God:
Porém eu buscaria a Deus; e a ele dirigiria a minha fala.
9 Which doeth great things and vnsearchable, and marueilous things without nomber.
Ele faz coisas tão grandiosas, que se não podem esquadrinhar; e tantas maravilhas, que se não podem contar.
10 He giueth raine vpon the earth, and powreth water vpon the streetes,
Que dá a chuva sobre a terra, e envia águas sobre os campos,
11 And setteth vp on hie them that be lowe, that the sorowfull may be exalted to saluation.
Para pôr aos abatidos num lugar alto: e para que os enlutados se exaltem na salvação.
12 He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise.
Ele aniquila as imaginações dos astutos, para que as suas mãos não possam levar coisa alguma a efeito.
13 He taketh the wise in their craftinesse, and the counsel of the wicked is made foolish.
Ele apanha os sábios na sua própria astúcia; e o conselho dos perversos se precipita.
14 They meete with darkenesse in the day time, and grope at noone day, as in the night.
Eles de dia encontrem as trevas; e ao meio dia andem como de noite, às apalpadelas.
15 But he saueth the poore from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hande of the violent man,
Porém ao necessitado livra da espada, e da boca deles, e da mão do forte.
16 So that the poore hath his hope, but iniquitie shall stop her mouth.
Assim há esperança para o pobre; e a iniquidade tapa a sua boca.
17 Beholde, blessed is the man whome God correcteth: therefore refuse not thou the chastising of the Almightie.
Eis que bem-aventurado é o homem a quem Deus castiga; pois não desprezes o castigo do Todo-poderoso.
18 For he maketh the wound, and bindeth it vp: he smiteth, and his handes make whole.
Porque ele faz a chaga, e ele mesmo a liga: ele fere, e as suas mãos curam.
19 He shall deliuer thee in sixe troubles, and in the seuenth the euill shall not touch thee.
Em seis angústias te livrará; e na sétima o mal te não tocará.
20 In famine he shall deliuer thee from death: and in battel from the power of the sworde.
Na fome te livrará da morte; e na guerra da violência da espada.
21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue, and thou shalt not be afraid of destruction when it commeth.
Do açoite da língua estarás encoberto; e não temerás a assolação, quando vier.
22 But thou shalt laugh at destruction and dearth, and shalt not be afraide of the beast of the earth.
Da assolação e da fome te rirás, e os animais da terra não temerás.
23 For the stones of the fielde shall be in league with thee, and the beastes of the field shall be at peace with thee.
Porque até com as pedras do campo terás a tua aliança; e os animais do campo serão pacíficos contigo.
24 And thou shalt knowe, that peace shall be in thy tabernacle, and thou shalt visite thine habitation, and shalt not sinne.
E saberás que a tua tenda está em paz; e visitarás a tua habitação, e não falharás.
25 Thou shalt perceiue also, that thy seede shalbe great, and thy posteritie as the grasse of the earth.
Também saberás que se multiplicará a tua semente e a tua posteridade como a erva da terra.
26 Thou shalt goe to thy graue in a ful age, as a ricke of corne commeth in due season into the barne.
Na velhice virás à sepultura, como se recolhe o feixe de trigo a seu tempo.
27 Lo, thus haue we inquired of it, and so it is: heare this and knowe it for thy selfe.
Eis que isto já o havemos inquirido, e assim é; ouve-o, e medita nisso para teu bem.
