Job 24
1 Howe should not the times be hid from the Almightie, seeing that they which knowe him, see not his dayes?
"Mengapa Yang Mahakuasa tidak mencadangkan masa penghukuman dan mereka yang mengenal Dia tidak melihat hari pengadilan-Nya?
2 Some remoue the land marks, that rob the flockes and feede thereof.
Ada orang yang menggeser batas tanah, yang merampas kawanan ternak, lalu menggembalakannya.
3 They leade away the asse of the fatherles: and take the widowes oxe to pledge.
Keledai kepunyaan yatim piatu dilarikannya, dan lembu betina kepunyaan seorang janda diterimanya sebagai gadai,
4 They make the poore to turne out of the way, so that the poore of the earth hide themselues together.
orang miskin didorongnya dari jalan, orang sengsara di dalam negeri terpaksa bersembunyi semuanya.
5 Behold, others as wilde asses in the wildernesse, goe forth to their businesse, and rise early for a praye: the wildernesse giueth him and his children foode.
Sesungguhnya, seperti keledai liar di padang gurun mereka keluar untuk bekerja mencari apa-apa di padang belantara sebagai makanan bagi anak-anak mereka.
6 They reape his prouision in the fielde, but they gather the late vintage of the wicked.
Di ladang mereka mengambil makanan hewan, dan kebun anggur, milik orang fasik, dipetiki buahnya yang ketinggalan.
7 They cause the naked to lodge without garment, and without couering in the colde.
Dengan telanjang mereka bermalam, karena tidak ada pakaian, dan mereka tidak mempunyai selimut pada waktu dingin;
8 They are wet with the showres of the moutaines, and they imbrace the rocke for want of a couering.
oleh hujan lebat di pegunungan mereka basah kuyup, dan karena tidak ada tempat berlindung, mereka mengimpitkan badannya pada gunung batu.
9 They plucke the fatherles from the breast, and take the pledge of the poore.
Ada yang merebut anak piatu dari susu ibunya dan menerima bayi orang miskin sebagai gadai.
10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, and take the glening from the hungrie.
Dengan telanjang mereka berkeliaran, karena tidak ada pakaian, dan dengan kelaparan mereka memikul berkas-berkas gandum;
11 They that make oyle betweene their walles, and treade their wine presses, suffer thirst.
di antara dua petak kebun mereka membuat minyak, mereka menginjak-injak tempat pengirikan sambil kehausan.
12 Men cry out of the citie, and the soules of the slayne cry out: yet God doth not charge them with follie.
Dari dalam kota terdengar rintihan orang-orang yang hampir mati dan jeritan orang-orang yang menderita luka, tetapi Allah tidak mengindahkan doa mereka.
13 These are they, that abhorre the light: they know not the wayes thereof, nor continue in the paths thereof.
Ada lagi golongan yang memusuhi terang, yang tidak mengenal jalannya dan tidak tetap tinggal pada lintasannya.
14 The murtherer riseth earely and killeth the poore and the needie: and in the night he is as a theefe.
Pada parak siang bersiaplah si pembunuh, orang sengsara dan miskin dibunuhnya, dan waktu malam ia berlaku seperti pencuri.
15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, and sayth, None eye shall see me, and disguiseth his face.
Orang yang berzinah menunggu senja, pikirnya: Jangan seorangpun melihat aku; lalu dikenakannya tudung muka.
16 They digge through houses in the darke, which they marked for themselues in the daye: they knowe not the light.
Di dalam gelap mereka membongkar rumah, pada siang hari mereka bersembunyi; mereka tidak kenal terang,
17 But the morning is euen to them as the shadow of death: if one knowe them, they are in the terrours of the shadowe of death.
karena kegelapan adalah pagi hari bagi mereka sekalian, dan mereka sudah biasa dengan kedahsyatan kegelapan.
18 He is swift vpon the waters: their portion shalbe cursed in the earth: he will not behold the way of the vineyardes.
Mereka hanyut di permukaan air, bagian mereka terkutuk di bumi; mereka tidak lagi pergi ke kebun anggur mereka.
19 As the dry ground and heate consume the snowe waters, so shall the graue the sinners. (Sheol h7585)
Air salju dihabiskan oleh kemarau dan panas, demikian juga dilakukan dunia orang mati terhadap mereka yang berbuat dosa. (Sheol h7585)
20 The pitifull man shall forget him: the worme shall feele his sweetenes: he shalbe no more remembered, and the wicked shalbe broke like a tree.
Rahim ibu melupakan dia, berenga mengerumitnya, ia tidak diingat lagi: kecurangan dipatahkan seperti pohon kayu.
21 He doth euil intreat ye barren, that doeth not beare, neither doeth he good to the widowe.
Ia menjarahi perempuan mandul, yang tidak beranak, dan tidak berbuat baik terhadap seorang janda,
22 He draweth also the mighty by his power, and when he riseth vp, none is sure of life.
bahkan menyeret orang-orang perkasa dengan kekuatannya; ia bangun kembali, tetapi hidupnya tidak terjamin.
23 Though men giue him assurance to be in safetie, yet his eyes are vpon their wayes.
Allah memberinya keamanan yang menjadi sandarannya, dan mengawasi jalan-jalannya.
24 They are exalted for a litle, but they are gone, and are brought lowe as all others: they are destroyed, and cut off as the toppe of an eare of corne.
Hanya sebentar mereka meninggikan diri, lalu tidak ada lagi; mereka luruh, lalu menjadi lisut seperti segala sesuatu, mereka dikerat seperti hulu tangkai gandum.
25 But if it be not so, where is he? or who wil proue me a lyer, and make my words of no value?
Jikalau tidak demikian halnya, siapa berani menyanggah aku dan meniadakan perkataanku?"
