Deuteronomy 8
1 Ye shall keepe all the commandements which I command thee this day, for to doe them: that ye may liue, and be multiplied, and goe in, and possesse the land which the Lord sware vnto your fathers.
Alle Gebote, die ich dir heute gebiete, sollt ihr behalten, um sie zu tun, auf daß ihr lebet und gemehret werdet und hineinkommet und das Land einnehmet, das der HERR euren Vätern geschworen hat.
2 And thou shalt remember all ye way which the Lord thy God led thee this fourtie yeere in the wildernesse, for to humble thee and to proue thee, to knowe what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keepe his commandements or no.
Gedenke auch des ganzen Weges, durch den der HERR, dein Gott, dich geleitet hat diese vierzig Jahre lang in der Wüste, daß er dich demütigte und versuchte, auf daß kundwürde, was in deinem Herzen ist, ob du seine Gebote halten würdest oder nicht.
3 Therefore he humbled thee, and made thee hungry, and fed thee with MAN, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know it, that he might teache thee that man liueth not by bread onely, but by euery worde that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord, doth a man liue.
Er demütigte dich und ließ dich hungern und speiste dich mit Manna, das weder du noch deine Väter gekannt hatten, um dir kundzutun, daß der Mensch nicht vom Brot allein lebt, sondern daß er von allem dem lebt, was aus dem Munde des HERRN geht.
4 Thy raiment waxed not olde vpon thee, neither did thy foote swell those fourtie yeeres.
Deine Kleider sind nicht zerlumpt an dir, und deine Füße sind nicht geschwollen diese vierzig Jahre lang.
5 Knowe therefore in thine heart, that as a man nourtereth his sonne, so the Lord thy God nourtereth thee.
So erkenne nun in deinem Herzen, daß der HERR, dein Gott, dich gezüchtigt hat, wie ein Mann seinen Sohn züchtigt.
6 Therefore shalt thou keepe the commandements of the Lord thy God, that thou mayest walke in his wayes, and feare him.
Und beobachte die Gebote des HERRN, deines Gottes, daß du in seinen Wegen wandelst und ihn fürchtest;
7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land in the which are riuers of water and fountaines, and depthes that spring out of valleis and mountaines:
denn der HERR, dein Gott, führt dich in ein gutes Land, in ein Land, darin Wasserbäche, Quellen und Seen sind, die auf den Bergen und in den Tälern entspringen;
8 A land of wheate and barley, and of vineyards, and figtrees, and pomegranates: a land of oyle oliue and hony:
ein Land, darin Weizen, Gerste, Weinstöcke, Feigenbäume und Granatäpfel sind, ein Land voller Olivenbäume und Honig;
9 A land wherein thou shalt eate bread without scarcitie, neither shalt thou lacke any thing therein: a land whose stones are yron, and out of whose mountaines thou shalt digge brasse.
ein Land, davon du dich nicht kümmerlich nähren mußt, worin es dir an nichts mangelt; ein Land, dessen Steine Eisen sind, wo du Erz aus den Bergen hauen wirst.
10 And when thou hast eaten and filled thy selfe, thou shalt blesse the Lord thy God for the good land, which he hath giuen thee.
Darum, wenn du gegessen hast und satt geworden bist, sollst du den HERRN, deinen Gott, loben für das gute Land, das er dir gegeben hat.
11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, not keeping his commandements, and his lawes, and his ordinances, which I commaund thee this day:
Hüte dich, daß du des HERRN, deines Gottes, nicht vergessest, so daß du seine Gebote, seine Satzungen und Rechte, die ich dir heute gebiete, nicht beobachtest;
12 Lest when thou hast eaten and filled thy selfe, and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein,
daß, wenn du nun gegessen hast und satt geworden bist, und schöne Häuser erbauest und darin wohnest,
13 And thy beastes, and thy sheepe are increased, and thy siluer and golde is multiplied, and all that thou hast is increased,
und deine Rinder und Schafe, Silber und Gold, und alles, was du hast, sich mehren,
14 Then thine heart be lifted vp and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage,
dein Herz sich alsdann nicht erhebe und du vergessest des HERRN, deines Gottes, der dich aus Ägyptenland, aus dem Diensthause, geführt hat;
15 Who was thy guide in the great and terrible wildernes (wherein were fierie serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where was no water, who brought forth water for thee out of ye rock of flint:
der dich durch diese große und schreckliche Wüste geleitet hat, da feurige Schlangen waren und Skorpione und Dürre und kein Wasser; der dir auch Wasser aus dem harten Felsen entspringen ließ;
16 Who fed thee in the wildernesse with MAN, which thy fathers knewe not) to humble thee, and and to proue thee, that he might doe thee good at thy latter ende.
der dich in der Wüste mit Manna speiste, von welchem deine Väter nichts wußten, auf daß er dich demütigte und auf die Probe stellte, um dir hernach wohlzutun;
17 Beware least thou say in thine heart, My power, and the strength of mine owne hand hath prepared me this abundance.
und daß du nicht sagest in deinem Herzen: Meine eigene Kraft und meine fleißigen Hände haben mir diesen Reichtum verschafft.
18 But remember the Lord thy God: for it is he which giueth thee power to get substance to establish his couenant which he sware vnto thy fathers, as appeareth this day.
Sondern du sollst des HERRN, deines Gottes, gedenken; denn er ist es, der dir Kraft gibt, solchen Reichtum zu erwerben; auf daß er seinen Bund aufrechterhalte, den er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, wie es heute geschieht.
19 And if thou forget the Lord thy God, and walke after other gods, and serue them, and worship them, I testifie vnto you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Wirst du aber des HERRN, deines Gottes, vergessen und andern Göttern nachfolgen und ihnen dienen und sie anbeten, so bezeuge ich heute über euch, daß ihr gewiß umkommen werdet.
20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before you, so ye shall perish, because ye woulde not be obedient vnto the voyce of the Lord your God.
Wie die Heiden, die der Herr vor eurem Angesicht umbringt, also werdet auch ihr umkommen, weil ihr der Stimme des HERRN, eures Gottes, nicht gehorsam seid.
