2 Chronicles 26
1 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Vzziah, which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King in the steade of his father Amaziah.
Ensuite tout le peuple de Juda établit son fils Ozias, âgé de seize ans, roi en la place d’Amasias, son père.
2 He buylt Eloth, and restored it to Iudah after that the King slept with his fathers.
C’est lui qui bâtit Aïlath, et la rendit à la domination de Juda, après que le roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.
3 Sixteene yeere olde was Vzziah, when he began to reigne, and he reigned two and fiftie yere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iecoliah of Ierusalem.
Ozias avait seize ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Jéchélie de Jérusalem.
4 And hee did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, according to al that his father Amaziah did.
Et il fit ce qui était droit aux yeux du Seigneur, selon tout ce qu’avait fait Amasias, son père.
5 And he sought God in the dayes of Zechariah (which vnderstoode the visions of God) and when as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.
Et il chercha le Seigneur aux jours de Zacharie, qui comprenait et voyait Dieu; et comme il cherchait le Seigneur, le Seigneur le dirigea en toutes choses.
6 For he went forth and fought against the Philistims and brake downe the wall of Gath, and the wall of Iabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities in Ashdod, and among the Philistims.
Enfin il sortit et combattit contre les Philistins; il détruisit le mur de Geth, le mur de Jabnie et le mur d’Azot: il bâtit des villes dans Azot et chez les Philistins.
7 And God helped him against ye Philistims, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal and Hammeunim.
Et Dieu l’aida contre les Philistins et contre les Arabes qui habitaient dans Gurbaal, et contre les Ammonites.
8 And the Ammonites gaue gifts to Vzziah, and his name spred to the entring in of Egypt: for he did most valiantly.
Or les Ammonites donnaient des présents à Ozias, et son nom se répandit jusqu’à l’entrée de l’Égypte, à cause de ses fréquentes victoires.
9 Moreouer Uzziah buylt towres in Ierusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning, and made them strong.
Et Ozias bâtit des tours à Jérusalem sur la porte de l’angle et sur la porte de la vallée, et d’autres sur le même côté du mur, et il les fortifia.
10 And he built towres in the wildernesse, and digged many cisternes: for he had much cattell both in the valleyes and playnes, plowmen, and dressers of vines in the mountaines, and in Carmel: for he loued husbandrie.
Il bâtit encore des tours dans le désert, et il creusa plusieurs citernes, parce qu’il avait beaucoup de troupeaux, tant dans la campagne que dans la vaste étendue du désert. Il eut aussi des vignes et des vignerons sur les montagnes et sur le Carmel; car c’était un homme adonné à l’agriculture.
11 Vzziah had also an hoste of fighting men that went out to warre by bandes, according to the count of their nomber vnder the hande of Ieiel the Scribe, and Maaseiah the ruler, and vnder the hand of Hananiah, one of the Kings captaines.
Or l’armée de ses guerriers qui marchaient aux combats était sous la main de Jéhiel, le scribe, Maasias, le docteur, et sous la main de Hananie, qui était un des chefs de l’armée du roi.
12 The whole nomber of the chiefe of the families of the valiant men were two thousande and sixe hundreth.
Le nombre complet des princes dans les familles des hommes forts était de deux mille six cents.
13 And vnder their hande was the armie for warre, three hundreth and seuen thousand, and fiue hundreth that fought valiantly to helpe the King against the enemie.
Et sous eux toute l’armée était de trois cent sept mille cinq cents soldats, qui était propres à la guerre, et qui combattaient pour le roi contre les ennemis.
14 And Vzziah prepared them throughout all the hoste, shieldes, and speares, and helmets, and brigandines, and bowes, and stones to sling.
Or Ozias disposa pour eux, c’est-à-dire pour toute l’armée, des boucliers, des lances, des casques, des cuirasses, des arcs et des frondes à jeter des pierres.
15 He made also very artificial engins in Ierusalem, to be vpon the towres and vpon the corners, to shoote arrowes and great stones: and his name spred farre abroade, because God did helpe him marueilously, till he was mightie.
Et il fit dans Jérusalem des machines de divers genres, qu’il plaça dans les tours et dans tous les angles des murs, pour lancer les flèches et les grosses pierres; et son nom se répandit au loin, parce que le Seigneur l’aidait et le fortifiait.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lift vp to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the Temple of the Lord to burne incense vpon the altar of incense.
Mais, lorsqu’il eut été ainsi affermi, son cœur s’éleva pour sa perte, et il négligea le Seigneur son Dieu; et, étant entré dans le temple du Seigneur, il voulut brûler de l’encens sur l’autel du parfum.
17 And Azariah the Priest went in after him, and with him foure score Priests of the Lord, valiant men.
Mais aussitôt entra après lui Azarias, le prêtre, et avec lui quatre-vingts prêtres du Seigneur, hommes très forts;
18 And they withstoode Vzziah the King, and said vnto him, It perteineth not to thee, Vzziah, to burne incense vnto the Lord, but to the Priests the sonnes of Aaron, that are consecrated for to offer incense: goe forth of the Sanctuarie: for thou hast transgressed, and thou shalt haue none honour of the Lord God.
Ils s’opposèrent au roi, et dirent: Il ne vous appartient pas, Ozias, de brûler de l’encens devant le Seigneur; mais c’est aux prêtres, c’est-à-dire aux enfants d’Aaron, qui ont été consacrés pour ce ministère. Sortez du sanctuaire, et ne nous méprisez point, parce que cette action ne vous sera pas imputée à gloire par le Seigneur Dieu.
19 Then Vzziah was wroth, and had incense in his hand to burne it: and while he was wroth with the Priestes, the leprosie rose vp in his forehead before the Priestes in the house of the Lord beside the incense altar.
Mais Ozias, irrité, tenant un encensoir à la main pour brûler de l’encens, menaçait les prêtres. Et aussitôt la lèpre se forma sur son front, devant les prêtres, dans la maison du Seigneur, près de l’autel du parfum.
20 And when Azariah the chiefe Priest with al the Priestes looked vpon him, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they caused him hastily to depart thence: and he was euen compelled to go out, because the Lord had smitten him.
Et lorsque Azarias, le pontife, et tous les autres prêtres eurent jeté les yeux sur lui, ils virent la lèpre sur son front, et ils le chassèrent promptement. Mais lui-même, épouvanté, se hâta de sortir, parce qu’il sentit sur-le-champ la plaie du Seigneur.
21 And Vzziah the king was a leper vnto the day of his death, and dwelt as a leper in an house apart, because he was cut off from the house of ye Lord: and Iotham his sonne ruled ouer the Kings house, and iudged the people of the land.
Le roi, Ozias, fut donc lépreux jusqu’au jour de sa mort; et il habita dans une maison séparée, plein de la lèpre, à cause de laquelle il avait été chassé de la maison du Seigneur. Cependant Joatham, son fils, gouverna la maison du roi, et il jugeait le peuple de la terre.
22 Concerning the rest of the acts of Vzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the Prophet the sonne of Amoz write.
Mais le reste des actions d’Ozias, des premières et des dernières, Isaïe, le prophète, fils d’Amos, l’a écrit.
23 So Vzziah slept with his fathers, and they buryed him with his fathers in the fielde of the burial, which perteined to the kings: for they said, He is a leper. And Iotham his sonne reigned in his steade.
Et Ozias dormit avec ses pères, et on l’ensevelit dans le champ des sépulcres royaux, parce qu’il était lépreux; et Joatham, son fils, régna en sa place.
