< Romans 1 >
1 This letter comes from Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ. I was called to be an apostle by God. God appointed me to announce the good news
Paul the seruaut of Iesus Christ called to be an Apostle put a parte to preache the Gospell of God
2 that he had previously promised through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures.
which he promysed afore by his Prophetes in the holy scriptures
3 The good news is about his Son, whose human forefather was David,
that make mension of his sonne the which was begotte of the seed of David as pertayninge to the flesshe:
4 but who was revealed as God's Son by his resurrection from the dead through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.
and declared to be the sonne of God with power of the holy goost that sanctifieth sence ye tyme that Iesus Christ oure Lorde rose agayne from deeth
5 It was through him that I received the privilege of becoming an apostle to call all nations to obedient trust in him.
by whom we have receaved grace and apostleshyppe to bringe all maner hethe people vnto obedience of the fayth that is in his name:
6 You are also included among those who were called to belong to Jesus Christ.
of the which hethen are ye a part also which are Iesus christes by vocacio.
7 I'm writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God, and called to be his special people. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
To all you of Rome beloved of God and saynctes by callinge. Grace be with you and peace from God oure father and from the Lorde Iesus Christ.
8 Let me begin by saying that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because the way in which you trust in God is spoken about all over the world.
Fyrst verely I thanke my God thorow Iesus Christ for you all because youre fayth is publisshed through out all the worlde.
9 I'm always praying for you, as God can confirm—the God I serve with the whole of my being as I share the good news about his Son.
For God is my witnes whom I serve with my sprete in the Gospell of his sonne that with out ceasinge I make mencion of you alwayes in my prayers
10 In my prayers I'm always asking that I might eventually come and see you, if that's what God wants.
besechinge that at one tyme or another a prosperous iorney (by ye will of god) myght fortune me to come vnto you.
11 I really want to visit you and share with you a spiritual blessing to strengthen you.
For I longe to see you that I myght bestowe amoge you some spirituall gyfte to strength you with all:
12 In this way we can be encouraged together by each others' trust in God, both your trust and mine.
that is that I myght have consolacion together with you through the commen fayth which bothe ye and I have.
13 I want you to know, my brothers and sisters, I often planned to visit you, but I was kept from coming up till now. I want to see some good spiritual results among you just as I've seen among other people.
I wolde that ye shuld knowe brethre how that I have often tymes purposed to come vnto you (but have bene let hitherto) to have some frute amonge you as I have amonge other of ye Gentyls.
14 For I have an obligation to work for both the civilized and the uncivilized, both the educated and the uneducated.
For I am detter both to the Grekes and to them which are no Grekes vnto the learned and also vnto the vnlearned.
15 That's why I'm really keen to come to Rome and share the good news with you.
Lykewyse as moche as in me is I am redy to preache the Gospell to you of Rome also.
16 I'm certainly not ashamed about the good news, for it's God's power to save everyone who trusts in him—to the Jewish people first, and then to everyone else as well.
For I am not ashamed of the Gospell of Christ because it is ye power of God vnto salvacio to all yt beleve namely to the Iewe and also to ye getyle.
17 For in the good news God is revealed as good and right, trustworthy from start to finish. As Scripture says, “Those who are right with God live by trusting him.”
For by it ye rightewesnes which cometh of god is opened fro fayth to fayth. As it is written: The iust shall live by fayth.
18 God's hostility is revealed from heaven against those who are godless and who are not morally right, those who suppress the truth through the evil that they do.
For the wrath of God apereth from heven agaynst all vngodlynes and vnrightewesnes of me which withholde ye trueth in vnrightewesnes
19 What can be known about God is obvious, because he has made it very clear to them.
seynge what maye be knowen of God that same is manifest amoge them. For God dyd shewe it vnto them.
20 Ever since the creation of the world, the invisible aspects of God—his eternal power and divinity—are clearly visible in what he has made. Such people have no excuse, (aïdios )
So that his invisible thinges: that is to saye his eternall power and godhed are vnderstonde and sene by the workes from the creacion of the worlde. So that they are without excuse (aïdios )
21 because even though they knew God, they did not praise him or thank him, but instead their thinking about God turned into complete foolishness, and darkness filled their empty minds.
in as moche as when they knewe god they glorified him not as God nether were thakfull but wexed full of vanities in their imaginacions and their folisshe hertes were blynded.
22 Even though they claimed to be wise, they became foolish.
When they couted them selves wyse they became foles
23 They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for idols, images of mortal human beings, birds, animals, and reptiles.
and turned the glory of the immortall god vnto the similitude of the ymage of mortall man and of byrdes and foure foted beastes and of serpentes.
24 So God abandoned them to the evil desires of their depraved minds, and they did shameful, degrading things to each other.
Wherfore god lykewyse gave the vp vnto their hertes lustes vnto vnclennes to defyle their awne boddyes bitwene them selves:
25 They exchanged God's truth for a lie, worshiping and serving creatures instead of the Creator, who deserves praise forever. Amen. (aiōn )
which tourned his truthe vnto a lye and worshipped and served the creatures more then ye maker which is blessed for ever. Ame. (aiōn )
26 That's why God abandoned them to their evil desires. Their women exchanged natural sex for that which is unnatural,
For this cause god gave them vp vnto shamfull lustes. For even their wemen did chaunge the naturall vse vnto the vnnaturall.
27 and in the same way the men gave up sex with women and burned with lust for each other. Men did indecent things to each other, and as a result they suffered the inevitable consequences of their perversions.
And lyke wyse also the men lefte the naturall vse of the woma and bret in their lustes one on another. And man with man wrought filthynes and receaved in them selves the rewarde of their erroure as it was accordinge.
28 Since they didn't consider it worthwhile to get to know God, he abandoned them to their worthless, distrustful way of thinking, doing things that should never be done.
And as it semed not good vnto them to be aknowen of God even so God delivered them vp vnto a leawde mynd yt they shuld do tho thinges which were not comly
29 They filled themselves with all that's wrong: evil, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malice, and gossip.
beinge full of all vnrighteous doinge of fornicacio wickednes coveteousnes maliciousnes full of envie morther debate disseyte evill codicioned whisperers
30 They're back-stabbers and God-haters. They're arrogant, proud, and boastful. They devise new ways of sinning. They rebel against their parents.
backbyters haters of God doers of wroge proude bosters bringers vp of evyll thinges disobedient to father and mother
31 They don't want to understand, they don't keep their promises, they don't show any kindness or compassion.
with out vnderstondinge covenaunte breakers vnlovinge trucebreakers and merciles.
32 Even though they realize exactly what God requires, they do things that deserve death. Not only do they do such things themselves, they also support others in doing them.
Which me though they knew the rightewesnes of God how that they which soche thinges commyt are worthy of deeth yet not only do the same but also have pleasure in them that do them.
