< Mark 11 >

1 As they approached Jerusalem, near to Bethphage and Bethany, beside the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples on ahead.
When they came near to Jerusalem, to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples
2 He told them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as soon as you enter, you'll find a colt tied up that no one has ever ridden before. Untie it and bring it here.
and said to them, “Go your way into the village that is opposite you. Immediately as you enter into it, you will find a young donkey tied, on which no one has sat. Untie him and bring him.
3 If anyone asks you what you are doing, tell them, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back soon.’”
If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs him;’ and immediately he will send him back here.”
4 So they set off, and found a colt tied to a door, out on the street, and they untied it.
They went away, and found a young donkey tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied him.
5 Some of the people standing around asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt”?
Some of those who stood there asked them, “What are you doing, untying the young donkey?”
6 The disciples replied just as Jesus told them to, and the people let them go.
They said to them just as Yeshua had said, and they let them go.
7 They brought the colt to Jesus, put their cloaks on it, and Jesus sat on it.
They brought the young donkey to Yeshua and threw their garments on it, and Yeshua sat on it.
8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others laid down leafy branches that they'd cut in the fields.
Many spread their garments on the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees and spreading them on the road.
9 Those leading in the front and those that were following were all shouting, “Hosanna! Bless the one coming in the name of the Lord.
Those who went in front and those who followed cried out, “Hoshia'na! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
10 Bless the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!”
Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming in the name of the Lord! Hoshia'na in the highest!”
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went in to the Temple. He looked around him, observing everything, and then, since it was getting late, he returned to Bethany with the twelve disciples.
Yeshua entered into the temple in Jerusalem. When he had looked around at everything, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
12 The next day, as they left Bethany, Jesus was hungry.
The next day, when they had come out from Bethany, he was hungry.
13 From some distance away he saw a fig tree with leaves, so he went over to it to see if it had any fruit. But when he got there, he found it had only leaves, because it was not the season for figs.
Seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came to see if perhaps he might find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
14 He said to the tree, “May no one eat fruit from you ever again.” His disciples heard his words. (aiōn g165)
Yeshua told it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” and his disciples heard it. (aiōn g165)
15 They arrived back in Jerusalem, and Jesus went into the Temple. He started driving out the people who were buying and selling in the Temple. He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the chairs of the people selling doves.
They came to Jerusalem, and Yeshua entered into the temple and began to throw out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.
16 He stopped anyone carrying things through the Temple.
He would not allow anyone to carry a container through the temple.
17 He explained to them, “Doesn't Scripture say, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have turned it into a den of thieves!”
He taught, saying to them, “Isn’t it written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers!”
18 The chief priests and religious teachers heard what had happened, and tried to find a way to kill Jesus. But they were afraid of him, for everyone was so impressed by his teaching.
The chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him. For they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.
19 When evening came Jesus and his disciples left the city.
When evening came, he went out of the city.
20 The following morning as they returned, they saw the fig tree, withered from the roots up.
As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots.
21 Peter remembered what Jesus had done, and said to him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree that you cursed has withered.”
Peter, remembering, said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered away.”
22 “Trust in God,” Jesus replied.
Yeshua answered them, “Have faith in God.
23 “Believe me when I say to you that if you told this mountain, ‘Get out of here and be thrown into the sea,’ and you don't doubt in your heart, but are convinced about what you're asking, then it will happen!
For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening, he shall have whatever he says.
24 I'm telling you that whatever you pray for, whatever you ask, trust that you've received it, and it's yours.
Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.
25 But when you're praying, if you have something against someone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your sins.”
Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.”
27 They returned to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the Temple, the chief priests, religious teachers, and the leaders approached him.
They came again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him,
28 “By what authority are you doing all this?” they demanded. “Who gave you the right?”
and they began saying to him, “By what authority do you do these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”
29 “Let me ask you a question,” Jesus told them. “You answer me, and I'll tell you by whose authority I do these things.
Yeshua said to them, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 John's baptism—did that come from heaven, or from people?”
The immersion of Yochanan—was it from heaven, or from men? Answer me.”
31 They discussed it among themselves. They said, “If we say it's from heaven, he'll reply, ‘So why didn't you believe him?’
They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we should say, ‘From heaven;’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
32 But if we say, it's of human origin, well…” They were afraid of the crowd, because everyone believed that John was a true prophet.
If we should say, ‘From men’”—they feared the people, for all held Yochanan to really be a prophet.
33 So they answered Jesus, “We don't know.” “Then I'm not telling you by whose authority I do these things,” replied Jesus.
They answered Yeshua, “We don’t know.” Yeshua said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
