John 15
1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
第三款 グッセマニに往く途中の談話 我は眞の葡萄樹にして、我父は栽培者なり、
2 He cuts off every one of my branches that doesn't bear fruit. He prunes every branch that bears fruit so it can bear even more.
我に在る枝の果を結ばざる者は、父悉く之を伐去り、果を結ぶ者は、尚多く果を結ばしめん為に、悉く之を切透かし給ふべし。
3 You are already pruned and made clean through what I've told you.
我が汝等に語りたる言に由りて汝等は既に潔きなり。
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it remains part of the vine, so it is for you: you cannot bear fruit unless you remain in me.
我に止れ、我も亦汝等に止るべし。枝が葡萄樹に止るに非ずば自ら果を結ぶこと能はざる如く、汝等も我に止るに非ずば能はじ。
5 I'm the vine, you're the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit—for apart from me you can't do anything.
我は葡萄樹にして汝等は枝なり、我に止り我が之に止る人、是多くの果を結ぶ者なり、蓋我を離れては、汝等何事をも為す能はず。
6 Anyone who doesn't remain in me is like a branch that is thrown out and dries up. Such branches are gathered together, thrown into the fire and burned.
人若我に止らずば枝の如く棄てられて枯れ、然て拾はれ、火に投入れられて焚けん。
7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, then you can ask for whatever you want, and it will be given you.
汝等若我に止り、我言汝等に止らば、欲する所を願はんに叶へらるべし。
8 My Father is glorified as you produce much fruit, proving you are my disciples.
我父の據りて以て光榮を得給ふは、汝等が夥しき果を結びて我弟子と成らん事是なり。
9 As the Father loved me, so I have loved you. Remain in my love.
父の我を愛し給へ如く、我も亦汝等を愛せり、汝等我愛に止れ。
10 If you do what I say, you will remain in my love, just as I do what my Father says and remain in his love.
若我命を守らば汝等我愛に止る事、我も我父の命を守りて其愛に止るが如くなるべし。
11 I've explained this to you so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
是等の事を汝等に語れるは、我喜汝等の衷に在りて、汝等が喜の全うせられん為なり。
12 This is my command: love one another as I have loved you.
汝等相愛すること、我が汝等を愛せしが如くせよ、是我命なり。
13 There is no greater love than to give your life for your friends.
誰も其友の為に生命を棄つるより大いなる愛を有てる者はあらず。
14 You're my friends if you do what I tell you.
汝等若我が命ずる所を行はば是我友なり。
15 I don't call you servants any longer, for servants are not taken into their master's confidence. I call you friends, for everything my Father told me I've explained to you.
我最早汝等を僕と呼ばじ、僕は其主の為す所を知らざればなり。然て我は汝等を友と呼べり、是総て我父より聞きし事を悉く汝等に知らせたればなり。
16 You didn't choose me, I chose you. I have given you the responsibility to go and produce lasting fruit. So the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
汝等が我を選みたるに非ず、我こそ汝等を選みて立てたるなれ、是汝等が往きて果を結び其果永く存して、我名によりて父に何事を願ふも、父が汝等に之を賜はん為なり。
17 This is my command to you: love one another.
我が斯く汝等に命ずるは、汝等が相愛せん為なり。
18 If the world hates you, remember that it hated me before it hated you.
世若汝等を憎まば、汝等より先に我を憎めりと知れ。
19 If you were part of this world, it would love you as its own. But you're not part of the world, and I chose you out of the world—that's why the world hates you.
汝等世のものなりしならば、世は己がものとして愛せしならん、然れども、世のものに非ずして、我が世より選出せる汝等なれば、世は汝等を憎むなり。
20 Remember what I told you: servants aren't more important than their master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too. If they did what I told them, they will do what you tell them too.
僕は其主より大いならず、と我が曾て汝等に語りしを記憶せよ、人我を迫害したれば、亦汝等をも迫害せん、我言を守りたれば、亦汝等の言をも守らん、
21 But everything they do to you will be because of me, for they don't know the one who sent me.
然れども此凡ての事は、彼等我名の為に之を汝等に為さん、是我を遣はし給ひし者を知らざる故なり。
22 If I hadn't come and spoken to them, they wouldn't be guilty of sin—but now they have no excuse for their sin.
若我が來りて彼等に告ぐる事なかりせば、彼等罪なかりしならん。然れど今は其罪を推諉くるに所なし。
23 Anyone who hates me hates my Father as well.
我を憎む人は我父をも憎むなり、
24 If I had not given them such a demonstration through things that no one had ever done before, they wouldn't be guilty of sin, but despite seeing all this they hated both me and my Father.
若我彼等の中に在りて、何人も曾て為さざりし業を行はざりせば、彼等罪なかりしならん。然れど今は現に之を眼前に見て而も我と我父とを憎みたるなり。
25 But this just fulfilled what Scripture says, ‘They hated me for no reason at all.’
但し是彼等の律法に録して「彼等謂なく我を憎めり」とある言の成就せん為なり。
26 But I will send you the Comforter from the Father. When he comes, he will give evidence about me. He is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father.
斯て父の許より我が遣はさんとする弁護者、即ち父より出づる眞理の霊來らば、我に就きて證明を為し給はん、
27 You will also give evidence about me because you were with me from the beginning.
汝等も初より我に伴へるに由りて亦證明を為さん。
