Acts 6
1 Now in those days, as the disciples were multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution.
Այդ օրերը, երբ աշակերտները շատցան, Հելլենացիներուն կողմէն տրտունջ մը եղաւ Եբրայեցիներուն դէմ. որովհետեւ իրենց այրիները կ՚անտեսուէին ամէն օրուան ողորմութեան սպասարկութեան ատեն:
2 So summoning the multitude of the disciples the twelve said: “It is not advantageous that we should forsake the Word of God to serve at tables.
Տասներկուքը կանչեցին աշակերտներուն բազմութիւնը եւ ըսին. «Մեզի չի վայլեր ձգել Աստուծոյ խօսքը, եւ սպասարկել սեղաններու:
3 Therefore, brothers, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we will appoint over this need.
Ուրեմն, եղբայրնե՛ր, փնտռեցէ՛ք ձեր մէջ եօթը հոգի՝ բարի վկայուած, Սուրբ Հոգիով ու իմաստութեամբ լեցուն, որպէսզի նշանակենք զանոնք այս զբաղումին համար,
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.”
իսկ մենք յարատեւենք աղօթքի եւ Աստուծոյ խօսքին սպասարկութեան մէջ»:
5 The statement pleased the whole multitude; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicholas, a proselyte from Antioch,
Այս խօսքը հաճեցուց ամբողջ բազմութիւնը. ուստի ընտրեցին Ստեփանոսը, հաւատքով ու Սուրբ Հոգիով լեցուն մարդ մը, Փիլիպպոսը, Պրոքորոնը, Նիկանովրան, Տիմովնան, Պարմենան եւ Նիկողայոս նորահաւատ Անտիոքցին:
6 whom they set before the Apostles; and after praying they laid hands on them.
Ասոնք ներկայացուցին առաքեալներուն. անոնք ալ աղօթելով՝ իրենց ձեռքերը դրին անոնց վրայ:
7 Well the Word of God kept spreading, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem kept multiplying at a great rate, and a large company of the priests were obeying the faith.
Եւ Աստուծոյ խօսքը կ՚աճէր, աշակերտներուն թիւը չափազանց կը շատնար Երուսաղէմի մէջ, ու քահանաներէն մեծ բազմութիւն մը կը հնազանդէր նոր հաւատքին:
8 While Stephen, full of faith and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.
Ստեփանոս, որ հաւատքով ու զօրութեամբ լեցուած մարդ մըն էր, մեծ սքանչելիքներ եւ նշաններ կ՚ընէր ժողովուրդին մէջ:
9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.
Բայց ոմանք, այն ժողովարանէն՝ որ կը կոչուէր Ազատագրուածներուն, Կիւրենացիներուն ու Աղեքսանդրացիներուն ժողովարանը, եւ ոմանք՝ որ Կիլիկիայէն ու Ասիայէն էին, կանգնեցան եւ կը վիճաբանէին Ստեփանոսի հետ.
10 And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.
բայց կարող չէին դիմադրել այն իմաստութեան ու հոգիին, որով ան կը խօսէր:
11 Then they instigated men to say, “We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”
Այն ատեն կաշառեցին քանի մը մարդիկ, որպէսզի ըսեն. «Մենք լսեցինք թէ ան հայհոյական խօսքեր կ՚արտասանէր Մովսէսի եւ Աստուծոյ դէմ»:
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders and the scribes; and coming upon him they seized him, and brought him in to the Sanhedrin;
Այսպէս՝ գրգռեցին ժողովուրդը, երէցներն ու դպիրները, եւ հասնելով անոր վրայ՝ յափշտակեցին զինք ու տարին ատեանին առջեւ:
13 and they put forward false witnesses who said: “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against the holy place and the law;
Սուտ վկաներ ներկայացուցին, որոնք կ՚ըսէին. «Այս մարդը չի դադրիր հայհոյական խօսքեր արտասանելէ այս սուրբ տեղին եւ Օրէնքին դէմ:
14 for we have heard him saying that this Jesus the Natsorean will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses delivered to us.”
Որովհետեւ լսեցինք իրմէ, որ կ՚ըսէր թէ “այս Նազովրեցի Յիսուսը պիտի քակէ այս տեղը, ու պիտի փոխէ Մովսէսի մեզի աւանդած սովորութիւնները”»:
15 All who sat in the council, looking intently at him, saw his face like the face of an angel.
Բոլոր ատեանին մէջ բազմողները երբ ակնապիշ նայեցան անոր, անոր երեսը տեսան՝ հրեշտակի երեսի պէս:
