Matthew 13
1 The same day Jesus going out of the house, sat by the sea side.
Ce jour-là, Jésus sortit de la maison et s'assit au bord de la mer.
2 And great multitudes were gathered unto him, so that he went up into a boat and sat: and all the multitude stood on the shore.
Une grande foule s'étant assemblée autour de lui, il dut monter dans une barque, où il s'assit, tandis que la foule se tenait sur le rivage;
3 And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow.
et il leur dit beaucoup de choses en paraboles: — le semeur, dit-il, sortit pour semer.
4 And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up.
Et pendant qu'il semait, des grains tombèrent le long du chemin, et les oiseaux du ciel vinrent et les mangèrent.
5 And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth.
D'autres grains tombèrent sur un sol pierreux, où ils n'avaient pas beaucoup de terre, et ils levèrent aussitôt, parce que la terre était peu profonde.
6 And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away.
Mais le soleil s'étant levé, la plante, frappée de ses feux et n'ayant pas de racine, sécha.
7 And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them.
D'autres tombèrent parmi les épines, et les épines crûrent et les étouffèrent.
8 And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.
D'autres tombèrent dans la bonne terre, et ils produisirent du fruit, l'un cent, un autre soixante, et un autre trente.
9 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende! "
10 And his disciples came and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables?
Alors ses disciples s'approchant lui dirent: " Pourquoi leur parlez-vous en paraboles? "
11 Who answered and said to them: Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given.
Il leur répondit: " A vous, il a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume des cieux; mais à eux, cela n'a pas été donné.
12 For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he shall abound: but he that hath not, from him shall be taken away that also which he hath.
Car on donnera à celui qui a, et il sera dans l'abondance; mais à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il a.
13 Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
C'est pourquoi je leur parle en paraboles, parce qu'en voyant, ils ne voient pas, et qu'en entendant, ils n'entendent ni ne comprennent.
14 And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.
Pour eux s'accomplit la prophétie d'Isaïe: " Vous entendrez de vos oreilles et vous ne comprendrez point; vous verrez de vos yeux, et vous ne verrez point.
15 For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Car le cœur de ce peuple s'est appesanti; ils ont endurci leurs oreilles et fermé leurs yeux: de peur que leurs yeux ne voient, que leurs oreilles n'entendent, que leur cœur ne comprenne, qu'ils ne se convertissent et que je ne les guérisse. "
16 But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.
Pour vous, heureux vos yeux parce qu'ils voient, et vos oreilles parce qu'elles entendent!
17 For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them.
Je vous le dis en vérité, beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l'ont pas vu; entendre ce que vous entendez, et ne l'ont pas entendu.
18 Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.
Vous donc, écoutez ce que signifie la parabole du semeur:
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side.
" Quiconque entend la parole du royaume et ne la comprend pas, le Malin vient, et il enlève ce qui a été semé dans son cœur: c'est le chemin qui a reçu la semence.
20 And he that received the seed upon stony ground, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy.
Le terrain pierreux où elle est tombée, c'est celui qui entend la parole et la reçoit aussitôt avec joie:
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized.
mais il n'y a pas en lui de racines; il est inconstant; dès que survient la tribulation ou la persécution à cause de la parole, aussitôt il succombe.
22 And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless. (aiōn g165)
Les épines qui ont reçu la semence, c'est celui qui entend la parole; mais les sollicitudes de ce siècle et la séduction des richesses étouffent la parole, et elle ne porte point de fruit. (aiōn g165)
23 But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.
La bonne terre ensemencée, c'est celui qui entend la parole et la comprend; il porte du fruit, et donne l'un cent, un autre soixante, un autre trente pour un. "
24 Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seeds in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: " Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un homme qui avait semé de bon grain dans son champ.
25 But while men were asleep, his enemy came and oversowed cockle among the wheat and went his way.
Mais, pendant que les hommes dormaient, son ennemi vint et sema de l'ivraie au milieu du froment, et s'en alla.
26 And when the blade was sprung up, and had brought forth fruit, then appeared also the cockle.
Quand l'herbe eut poussé et donné son fruit, alors apparut aussi l'ivraie.
27 And the servants of the goodman of the house coming said to him: Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it cockle?
Et les serviteurs du père de famille vinrent lui dire: Seigneur, n'avez-vous pas semé de bon grain dans votre champ? D'où vient donc qu'il s'y trouve de l'ivraie?
28 And he said to them: An enemy hath done this. And the servants said to him: Wilt thou that we go and gather it up?
Il leur répondit: C'est un ennemi qui a fait cela. Les serviteurs lui dirent: Voulez-vous que nous allions la cueillir?
29 And he said: No, lest perhaps gathering up the cockle, you root up the wheat also together with it.
Non, leur dit-il, de peur qu'avec l'ivraie vous n'arrachiez aussi le froment.
30 Suffer both to grow until the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the cockle, and bind it into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather ye into my barn.
Laissez croître l'un et l'autre jusqu'à la moisson, et au temps de la moisson je dirai aux moissonneurs: Cueillez d'abord l'ivraie, et liez-la en gerbes pour la brûler, et amassez le froment dans mon grenier. "
31 Another parable he proposed unto them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: " Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de sénevé, qu'un homme a pris et semé dans son champ.
32 Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown up, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come, and dwell in the branches thereof.
C'est la plus petite de toutes les semences; mais, lorsqu'il a poussé, il est plus grand que toutes les plantes potagères, et devient un arbre, de sorte que les oiseaux du ciel viennent s'abriter dans ses rameaux. "
33 Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.
Il leur dit encore cette parabole: " Le royaume des cieux est semblable au levain qu'une femme prend et mêle dans trois mesures de farine, pour faire lever toute la pâte. "
34 All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes: and without parables he did not speak to them.
Jésus dit à la foule toutes ces choses en paraboles, et il ne lui parlait qu'en paraboles,
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.
accomplissant ainsi la parole du prophète: " J'ouvrirai ma bouche en paraboles, et je révélerai des choses cachées depuis la création du monde. "
36 Then having sent away the multitudes, he came into the house, and his disciples came to him, saying: Expound to us the parable of the cockle of the field.
Puis, ayant renvoyé le peuple, il revint dans la maison; ses disciples s'approchèrent et lui dirent: " Expliquez-nous la parabole de l'ivraie dans le champ. "
37 Who made answer and said to them: He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of man.
Il répondit: " Celui qui sème le bon grain, c'est le Fils de l'homme;
38 And the field, is the world. And the good seed are the children of the kingdom. And the cockle, are the children of the wicked one.
le champ, c'est le monde; le bon grain, ce sont les fils du royaume; l'ivraie, les fils du Malin;
39 And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels. (aiōn g165)
l'ennemi qui l'a semé, c'est le diable; la moisson, la fin du monde; les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
40 Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world. (aiōn g165)
Comme on cueille l'ivraie et qu'on la brûle dans le feu, ainsi en sera-t-il à la fin du monde. (aiōn g165)
41 The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all scandals, and them that work iniquity.
Le Fils de Dieu enverra ses anges, et ils enlèveront de son royaume tous les scandales, et ceux qui commettent l'iniquité,
42 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente: c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
43 Then shall the just shine as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Alors les justes resplendiront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles entende!
44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
" Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un trésor enfoui dans un champ; l'homme qui l'a trouvé l'y cache de nouveau, et, dans sa joie, il s'en va, vend tout ce qu'il a, et achète ce champ.
45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.
" le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un marchand qui cherchait de belles perles.
46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Ayant trouvé une perle de grand prix, il s'en alla vendre tout ce qu'il avait, et l'acheta.
47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.
" le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un filet qu'on a jeté dans la mer et qui ramasse des poissons de toutes sortes.
48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.
Lorsqu'il est plein, les pêcheurs le retirent, et, s'asseyant sur le rivage, ils choisissent les bons pour les mettre dans des vases, et jettent les mauvais.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just. (aiōn g165)
Il en sera de même à la fin du monde: les anges viendront et sépareront les méchants d'avec les justes, (aiōn g165)
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente: c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.
" Avez-vous compris toutes ces choses? " Ils lui dirent: " Oui, Seigneur. "
52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.
Et il ajouta: " C'est pourquoi tout Scribe versé dans ce qui regarde le royaume des cieux, ressemble à un père de famille qui tire de son trésor des choses nouvelles et des choses anciennes. "
53 And it came to pass: when Jesus had finished these parables, he passed from thence.
Après que Jésus eut achevé ces paraboles, il partit de là.
54 And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles?
Etant venu dans sa patrie, il enseignait dans la synagogue; de sorte que, saisis d'étonnement, ils disaient: " D'où viennent à celui-ci cette sagesse et ces miracles?
55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:
N'est-ce pas le fils du charpentier? Sa mère ne s'appelle-t-elle pas Marie, et ses frères Jacques, Joseph, Simon et Jude?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath he all these things?
Et ses sœurs ne sont-elles pas toutes parmi nous? D'où lui viennent donc toutes ces choses? "
57 And they were scandalized in his regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
Et il était pour eux une pierre d'achoppement. Mais Jésus leur dit: " Un prophète n'est sans honneur que dans sa patrie et dans sa maison. "
58 And he wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
Et il ne fit pas beaucoup de miracles dans ce lieu, à cause de leur incrédulité.
