< Job 20 >

1 Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:
To naah Naamath acaeng Zophar mah;
2 Therefore various thoughts succeed one another in me, and my mind is hurried away to different things.
ka pathim hanah, ka palung thungah toksak pongah, karangah ka thuih han.
3 The doctrine with which thou reprovest me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding shall answer for me.
Kai kasae na thuihaih hoi zoehhaih lok to ka thaih boeh, to pongah pathim han angaih, tiah palung thung hoi ka panoek.
4 This I know from the beginning, since man was placed upon the earth,
Long ah kami oh tangsuekhaih atue, canghnii atue hoi kaom hae baktih hmuen hae na panoek ai maw?
5 That the praise of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment.
Kasae kami khosak hoihaih loe sawk ai, Sithaw tidoeh sah ai kami anghoehaih doeh nawnetta ah ni oh.
6 If his pride mount up even to heaven, and his head touch the clouds:
A lensawkhaih mah van to phak moe, a lu mah tamai angtok cadoeh,
7 In the end he shall be destroyed like a dunghill, and they that has seen him shall say: Where is he?
anih loe angmah ih aek baktiah ni amro poe tih, anih hnu kaminawk mah, Anih loe naa ah maw oh ving boeh? tiah thui o tih.
8 As a dream that fleeth away he shall not be found, he shall pass as a vision of the night:
Anih loe amang baktiah azawk ving tih, hnu mak ai boeh; ue, khoving amang ah hnuk ih hmuen baktiah anghmaa ving tih.
9 The eyes that had seen him, shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more behold him.
Anih hnu mik mah anih to hnu let mak ai boeh; a ohhaih ahmuen mah doeh anih to khen mak ai boeh.
10 His children shall be oppressed with want, and his hands shall render him his sorrow.
A caanawk loe amtang kaminawk khaeah tahmenhaih hni o ueloe, a tawnh o ih hmuenmae to a ban hoiah paek pathok o let tih.
11 His bones shall be filled with the vices of his youth, and they shall sleep with him in the dust.
Anih ih huhongnawk loe thendoeng thacak nathuem ih zaehaih hoiah koi cadoeh, angmah hoi nawnto maiphu thungah angsong tih.
12 For when evil shall be sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue.
Sethaih loe anih ih pakha ah luep, anih mah angmah ih palai tlim ah hawk moe,
13 He will spare it, and not leave it, and will hide it in his throat.
paawt pongah pahnawt sut han koeh ai, angmah ih pakha thungah paumh hmoek cadoeh,
14 His bread in his belly shall be turned into the gall of asps within him.
a caak ih buh zok thungah phak naah thaw ueloe, pahui sae ih kasoetui ah angcoeng pae tih.
15 The riches which he hath swallowed; he shall vomit up, and God shall draw them out of his belly.
Anih mah paaeh ih angraenghaihnawk to pathaak let ueloe, Sithaw mah anih ih zok thung hoiah la let tih.
16 He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper’s tongue shall kill him.
Anih loe pahui sae ih kasoetui to pazop ueloe, pahui sae mah anih to patuk maat tih.
17 (Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.)
Anih loe kalong tuipui, khoitui hoi kamkhawk tahnutui longhaih tui to hnu mak ai.
18 He shall be punished for all that he did, and yet shall not be consumed: according to the multitude of his devices so also shall he suffer.
A toksakhaih atho to caa mak ai, minawk hanah paek let tih; to tiah a paek let pongah anih loe anghoehaih tawn mak ai.
19 Because he broke in and stripped the poor: he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.
Anih mah kamtang kaminawk to pacaekthlaek moe, tiah doeh sah ai; angmah sak ai ih imnawk to a lomh pae pongah to tiah oh.
20 And yet his belly was not filled: and when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them.
Anih loe koehhaih boep thai ai; a koeh ih hmuen mah anih pahlong thai mak ai.
21 There was nothing left of his meat, and therefore nothing shall continue of his goods:
Anih mah caak han ih buh tidoeh om mak ai boeh; a tawnh ih angraenghaih hmuen doeh cak poe mak ai.
22 When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened, he shall burn, and every sorrow shall fall upon him.
Hmuenmae angraeng nathuem ah amtang ueloe, a nuiah raihaih congca to pha tih.
23 May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him.
Anih zok amhah han oh naah, Sithaw mah palungphuihaih to a nuiah phasak ueloe, buhcaak nathuem ah palungphuihaih khotui baktiah angzo tih.
24 He shall flee from weapons of iron, and shall fall upon a bow of brass.
Anih loe sum hoi sak ih maiphaw maica thung hoiah loih; toe sumkamling palaa mah anih to kaat tih.
25 The sword is drawn out, and cometh forth from its scabbard, and glittereth in his bitterness: the terrible ones shall go and come upon him.
Anih loe a takpum thung hoi tacawt, palaa to aphongh; ue, anih ih ahmuet thung hoiah rong kampha sumsen to tacawt; a nuiah zithaih to phak;
26 All darkness is hid in his secret places: a fire that is not kindled shall devour him, he shall be afflicted when left in his tabernacle.
anih tamquta hoi ohhaih ahmuen ah khovinghaih to suek pae; anih loe kami mah hmuh ai ih hmai mah kang tih; a ohhaih kahni im ah kaom hmuennawk boih to kangh pae tih.
27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
Van mah anih sakpazaehaih amtuengsak tih, long mah doeh anih han misa angthawk thui tih.
28 The offspring of his house shall be exposed, he shall be pulled down in the day of God’s wrath.
A im ih hmuenmaenawk to anghmaa tih, Angraeng palungphuihaih niah loe anih khosak hoihaih to tui baktiah long tih.
29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord.
Sithaw mah to baktih tangqum to kasae kaminawk hanah paek, Sitawh mah to baktih qawktoep hanah anih to suek, tiah a naa.
