Psalms 82

1 A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the assembly of God, he judgeth among the gods.

Un psaume d'Asaph. Dieu préside la grande assemblée. Il juge parmi les dieux.

2 How long will ye judge unrighteously, and accept the person of the wicked? (Selah)

« Jusqu'à quand jugerez-vous injustement, et faire preuve de partialité envers les méchants? (Selah)

3 Judge the poor and the fatherless, do justice to the afflicted and the destitute;

« Défendez le faible, le pauvre et l'orphelin. Maintenir les droits des pauvres et des opprimés.

4 Rescue the poor and needy, deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

Secourir les faibles et les nécessiteux. Délivre-les de la main des méchants. »

5 They know not, neither do they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are moved.

Ils ne savent pas, ils ne comprennent pas non plus. Ils vont et viennent dans l'obscurité. Toutes les fondations de la terre sont ébranlées.

6 I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High;

J'ai dit: « Vous êtes des dieux, vous êtes tous des fils du Très-Haut.

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

Néanmoins, vous mourrez comme des hommes, et tomber comme un des chefs. »

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; for thou shalt inherit all the nations.

Lève-toi, Dieu, juge la terre, car vous héritez de toutes les nations.
