< 1 Timothy 6 >
1 Let as many bondmen as are under yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and the teaching be not blasphemed.
yaavanto lokaa yugadhaari. no daasaa. h santi te svasvasvaamina. m puur. nasamaadarayogya. m manyantaa. m no ced ii"svarasya naamna upade"sasya ca nindaa sambhavi. syati|
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise [them] because they are brethren; but let them the rather serve them with subjection, because they are faithful and beloved, who profit by the good and ready service [rendered]. These things teach and exhort.
ye. saa nca svaamino vi"svaasina. h bhavanti taiste bhraat. rtvaat naavaj neyaa. h kintu te karmmaphalabhogino vi"svaasina. h priyaa"sca bhavantiiti heto. h sevaniiyaa eva, tvam etaani "sik. saya samupadi"sa ca|
3 If any one teach differently, and do not accede to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the teaching which [is] according to piety,

4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and disputes of words, out of which arise envy, strife, injurious words, evil suspicions,
sa darpadhmaata. h sarvvathaa j naanahiina"sca vivaadai rvaagyuddhai"sca rogayukta"sca bhavati|
5 constant quarrellings of men corrupted in mind and destitute of the truth, holding gain to be [the end of] piety.

6 But piety with contentment is great gain.
sa. myatecchayaa yuktaa ye"svarabhakti. h saa mahaalaabhopaayo bhavatiiti satya. m|
7 For we have brought nothing into the world: [it is] [manifest] that neither can we carry anything out.
etajjagatprave"sanakaale. asmaabhi. h kimapi naanaayi tattayajanakaale. api kimapi netu. m na "sak. syata iti ni"scita. m|
8 But having sustenance and covering, we will be content with these.
ataeva khaadyaanyaacchaadanaani ca praapyaasmaabhi. h santu. s.tai rbhavitavya. m|
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many unwise and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and ruin.
ye tu dhanino bhavitu. m ce. s.tante te pariik. saayaam unmaathe patanti ye caabhilaa. saa maanavaan vinaa"se narake ca majjayanti taad. r"se. svaj naanaahitaabhilaa. se. svapi patanti|
10 For the love of money is [the] root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
yato. arthasp. rhaa sarvve. saa. m duritaanaa. m muula. m bhavati taamavalambya kecid vi"svaasaad abhra. m"santa naanaakle"sai"sca svaan avidhyan|
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness of spirit.
he ii"svarasya loka tvam etebhya. h palaayya dharmma ii"svarabhakti rvi"svaasa. h prema sahi. s.nutaa k. saanti"scaitaanyaacara|
12 Strive earnestly [in] the good conflict of faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast confessed the good confession before many witnesses. (aiōnios )
vi"svaasaruupam uttamayuddha. m kuru, anantajiivanam aalambasva yatastadartha. m tvam aahuuto. abhava. h, bahusaak. si. naa. m samak. sa ncottamaa. m pratij naa. m sviik. rtavaan| (aiōnios )
13 I enjoin thee before God who preserves all things in life, and Christ Jesus who witnessed before Pontius Pilate the good confession,
apara. m sarvve. saa. m jiivayiturii"svarasya saak. saad ya"sca khrii. s.to yii"su. h pantiiyapiilaatasya samak. sam uttamaa. m pratij naa. m sviik. rtavaan tasya saak. saad aha. m tvaam idam aaj naapayaami|
14 that thou keep the commandment spotless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ;
ii"svare. na svasamaye prakaa"sitavyam asmaaka. m prabho ryii"sukhrii. s.tasyaagamana. m yaavat tvayaa ni. skala"nkatvena nirddo. satvena ca vidhii rak. syataa. m|
15 which in its own time the blessed and only Ruler shall shew, the King of those that reign, and Lord of those that exercise lordship;
sa ii"svara. h saccidaananda. h, advitiiyasamraa. t, raaj naa. m raajaa, prabhuunaa. m prabhu. h,
16 who only has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor is able to see; to whom [be] honour and eternal might. Amen. (aiōnios )
amarataayaa advitiiya aakara. h, agamyatejonivaasii, marttyaanaa. m kenaapi na d. r.s. ta. h kenaapi na d. r"sya"sca| tasya gauravaparaakramau sadaatanau bhuuyaastaa. m| aamen| (aiōnios )
17 Enjoin on those rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to trust on the uncertainty of riches; but in the God who affords us all things richly for [our] enjoyment; (aiōn )
ihaloke ye dhaninaste cittasamunnati. m capale dhane vi"svaasa nca na kurvvataa. m kintu bhogaartham asmabhya. m pracuratvena sarvvadaataa (aiōn )
18 to do good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal in distributing, disposed to communicate [of their substance],
yo. amara ii"svarastasmin vi"svasantu sadaacaara. m kurvvantu satkarmmadhanena dhanino sukalaa daataara"sca bhavantu,
19 laying by for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold of [what is] really life.
yathaa ca satya. m jiivana. m paapnuyustathaa paaratrikaam uttamasampada. m sa ncinvantveti tvayaadi"syantaa. m|
20 O Timotheus, keep the entrusted deposit, avoiding profane, vain babblings, and oppositions of false-named knowledge,
he tiimathiya, tvam upanidhi. m gopaya kaalpanikavidyaayaa apavitra. m pralaapa. m virodhokti nca tyaja ca,
21 of which some having made profession, have missed the faith. Grace [be] with thee.
yata. h katipayaa lokaastaa. m vidyaamavalambya vi"svaasaad bhra. s.taa abhavana| prasaadastava sahaayo bhuuyaat| aamen|
