Acts 21
1 And when it came to pass that we were parted from them and had set sail, we came with a straight course unto Cos, and the next day unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
Wie es aber geschah, daß wir uns von ihnen losgerissen und gelichtet hatten, segelten wir geradezu auf Kos, am folgenden Tage aber auf Rhodus, und von da nach Patara.
2 and having found a ship crossing over unto Phoenicia, we went aboard, and set sail.
Und da wir daselbst ein Schiff fanden, das nach Phoinike gieng, bestiegen wir es und segelten ab.
3 And when we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed unto Syria, and landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
Nachdem wir Kypros in Sicht bekommen, und links gelassen, hielten wir auf Syria, und gelangten nach Tyrus, denn dahin hatte das Schiff seine Ladung abzugeben.
4 And having found the disciples, we tarried there seven days: and these said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not set foot in Jerusalem.
Wir aber suchten die Jünger auf, und blieben daselbst sieben Tage, und sie rieten dem Paulus durch den Geist, nicht nach Jerusalem hinaufzugehen.
5 And when it came to pass that we had accomplished the days, we departed and went on our journey; and they all, with wives and children, brought us on our way till we were out of the city: and kneeling down on the beach, we prayed, and bade each other farewell;
Als es aber kam, daß wir mit unserer Zeit fertig waren, machten wir uns auf und zogen ab, wobei uns alle das Geleite gaben samt Weib und Kind, bis vor die Stadt hinaus und am Strande beugten wir die Knie und beteten,
6 and we went on board the ship, but they returned home again.
dann umarmten wir einander, und wir bestiegen das Schiff, jene aber giengen heim.
7 And when we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais; and we saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
Wir aber vollendeten unsere Fahrt von Tyrus ab, und kamen nach Ptolemais, und begrüßten die Brüder und blieben einen Tag bei ihnen.
8 And on the morrow we departed, and came unto Cæsarea: and entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we abode with him.
Am folgenden Tage aber zogen wir ab und giengen nach Cäsarea, und traten in das Haus des Evangelisten Philippus, eines von den Sieben, und blieben bei demselben.
9 Now this man had four virgin daughters, who prophesied.
Dieser hatte aber vier jungfräuliche Töchter, welche weissagten.
10 And as we tarried there some days, there came down from Judæa a certain prophet, named Agabus.
Da wir aber mehrere Tage verweilten, kam ein Prophet von Judäa mit Namen Agabus herab, und besuchte uns,
11 And coming to us, and taking Paul’s girdle, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, Thus saith the Holy Spirit, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
der nahm den Gürtel des Paulus, band sich Füße und Hände und sagte: so spricht der heilige Geist: den Mann, dem dieser Gürtel gehört, werden die Juden in Jerusalem also binden und in die Hand der Heiden ausliefern.
12 And when we heard these things, both we and they of that place besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
Wie wir aber das vernahmen, drangen wir sowohl als die vom Orte in ihn, nicht nach Jerusalem hinaufzugehen.
13 Then Paul answered, What do ye, weeping and breaking my heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
Hierauf antwortete Paulus: was treibt ihr, so zu weinen und mir das Herz zu brechen? ich bin bereit nicht blos mich binden zu lassen, sondern auch zu sterben in Jerusalem für den Namen des Herrn Jesus.
14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
Da er sich nicht bereden ließ, so gaben wir Ruhe und sprachen: des Herrn Wille geschehe.
15 And after these days we took up our baggage and went up to Jerusalem.
Nach diesen Tagen aber machten wir uns fertig, und giengen hinauf nach Jerusalem.
16 And there went with us also [certain] of the disciples from Cæsarea, bringing [with them] one Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge.
Es giengen aber auch von den Jüngern von Cäsarea mit uns, und führten uns zur Herbege bei einem gewissen Mnason, einem Kyprier und alten Jünger.
17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
Da wir aber in Jerusalem angekommen, empfiengen uns die Brüder mit Freuden.
18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
Und am Tage darauf gieng Paulus mit uns zu Jakobus, und die sämtlichen Aeltesten fanden sich ein.
19 And when he had saluted them, he rehearsed one by one the things which God had wrought among the Gentiles through his ministry.
Und er begrüßte sie und berichtete ihnen alles im einzelnen, was Gott bei den Heiden durch seinen Dienst gewirkt.
20 And they, when they heard it, glorified God; and they said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of them that have believed; and they are all zealous for the law:
Sie aber, als sie es hörten, priesen Gott, und sprachen zu ihm: du schaust, Bruder, wie viel Myriaden von Gläubigen unter den Juden sind, und alle sind Eiferer für das Gesetz.
21 and they have been informed concerning thee, that thou teachest all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
Sie haben sich aber über dich berichten lassen, daß du überall die Juden in der Heidenwelt den Abfall von Moses lehrest, und anweisest, ihre Kinder nicht zu beschneiden und die Sitten nicht zu beobachten.
22 What is it therefore? they will certainly hear that thou art come.
Was ist nun zu machen? Jedenfalls werden sie hören, daß du gekommen bist.
23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men that have a vow on them;
So thue denn, was wir dir sagen. Wir haben da vier Männer, die ein Gelübde auf sich haben.
24 these take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges for them, that they may shave their heads: and all shall know that there is no truth in the things whereof they have been informed concerning thee; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, keeping the law.
Die nimm, und laß dich mit ihnen reinigen, und wende die Kosten auf für sie, daß sie sich das Haupt scheren lassen können; so wird jedermann einsehen, daß es nichts mit dem ist, wovon sie in betreff deiner berichtet wurden, und daß vielmehr auch du selbst in Beobachtung des Gesetzes wandelst.
25 But as touching the Gentiles that have believed, we wrote, giving judgment that they should keep themselves from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication.
Was aber die Heiden betrifft, die gläubig geworden sind, so haben wir die Anordnung getroffen, daß sie sich hüten sollen vor dem Götzenopfer, Blut, Ersticktem und Unzucht.
26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them went into the temple, declaring the fulfilment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.
Da übernahm Paulus die Männer am folgenden Tag, und nachdem er sich mit ihnen der Reinigung unterworfen, gieng er in den Tempel, und zeigte die Erfüllung der Tage der Reinigung an (nämlich bis zur Darbringung des Opfers für einen jeden von ihnen).
27 And when the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the multitude and laid hands on him,
Wie es aber daran war, daß die sieben Tage zu Ende giengen, brachten die Juden von Asia, welche ihn im Tempel sahen, alles Volk in Aufruhr, und legten Hand an ihn,
28 crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man that teacheth all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place; and moreover he brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath defiled this holy place.
und riefen: Ihr israelitische Männer, zu Hilfe! Das ist der Mensch, der allerorten jedermann lehrt gegen das Volk und das Gesetz und diese Stätte, und dazu hat er auch noch Griechen in das Heiligtum hereingebracht, und diese geweihte Stätte entweiht.
29 For they had before seen with him in the city Trophimus the Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.
Sie hatten nämlich vorher den Ephesier Trophimus bei ihm in der Stadt gesehen, und meinten Paulus habe diesen in den Tempel gebracht.
30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together; and they laid hold on Paul, and dragged him out of the temple: and straightway the doors were shut.
Und die ganze Stadt kam in Bewegung, und es entstand ein Volksauflauf, und sie griffen den Paulus und zogen ihn aus dem Tempel heraus, und die Thüren wurden sofort geschlossen.
31 And as they were seeking to kill him, tidings came up to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in confusion.
Schon giengen sie darauf aus, ihn zu töten, als die Kunde zu dem Obersten der Cohorte hinauf kam, daß ganz Jerusalem in Aufruhr sei.
32 And forthwith he took soldiers and centurions, and ran down upon them: and they, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, left off beating Paul.
Der nahm sogleich Soldaten und Hauptleute, und eilte herab zu ihnen. Da sie aber den Obersten und die Soldaten sahen, hörten sie auf den Paulus zu schlagen.
33 Then the chief captain came near, and laid hold on him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and inquired who he was, and what he had done.
Hierauf trat der Oberst herzu, bemächtigte sich seiner, hieß ihn mit zwei Ketten binden, und erkundigte sich, wer er sei und was er gethan.
34 And some shouted one thing, some another, among the crowd: and when he could not know the certainty for the uproar, he commanded him to be brought into the castle.
Es rief aber alles durcheinander in der Masse, und weil er des Lärmens wegen nichts sicher erfahren konnte, hieß er ihn in die Burg bringen.
35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the crowd;
Als er aber auf der Treppe war, kam es dazu, daß ihn die Soldaten trugen, wegen des Andrangs des Volkes;
36 for the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, Away with him.
denn der Volkshaufe zog mit, unter dem Geschrei: fort mit ihm.
37 And as Paul was about to be brought into the castle, he saith unto the chief captain, May I say something unto thee? And he said, Dost thou know Greek?
Und da er in die Burg hineingeführt werden sollte, sprach Paulus zu dem Obersten: darf ich etwas zu dir sagen? Der aber antwortete: du verstehst griechisch?
38 Art thou not then the Egyptian, who before these days stirred up to sedition and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins?
Da bist du wohl nicht der Aegypter, der kürzlich die viertausend Mann Sikarier aufwiegelte, und in die Wüste führte?
39 But Paul said, I am a Jew, of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and I beseech thee, give me leave to speak unto the people.
Paulus aber sprach: ich bin ein Jude, von Tarsus in Kilikia, Bürger dieser ansehnlichen Stadt, ich bitte dich aber, gestatte mir zum Volke zu reden.
40 And when he had given him leave, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with the hand unto the people; and when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew language, saying,
Da er es gewährte, stellte sich Paulus auf die Treppe und winkte dem Volke mit der Hand; als es dann ganz stille geworden war, redete er sie auf Hebräisch also an:
