Acts 20
1 And after the uproar ceased, Paul having sent for the disciples and exhorted them, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia.
Nachdem der Lärm gestillt war, beschied Paulus die Jünger zu sich, ermahnte sie und verabschiedete sich, und zog ab nach Makedonia.
2 And when he had gone through those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece.
Nachdem er diese Landschaft durchreist und ihnen viele Ermahnung gegeben hatte, gieng er nach Hellas.
3 And when he had spent three months [there], and a plot was laid against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.
Und da er nach einem dreimonatlichen Aufenthalt, wie er sich eben nach Syria einschiffen wollte, seitens der Juden durch einen Anschlag bedroht ward, entschloß er sich über Makedonia zurückzukehren.
4 And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater of Beroea, [the son] of Pyrrhus; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
Es begleitete ihn aber Sopater Pyrrhus Sohn von Beröa, von Thessalonikern aber: Aristarchus und Secundus, ferner Gajus von Derbe und Timotheus, sodann die von Asia: Tychikus und Trophimus.
5 But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.
Diese giengen aber voraus und warteten auf uns in Troas.
6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we tarried seven days.
Wir aber segelten nach den Tagen des Ungesäuerten ab von Philippi, und kamen zu ihnen binnen fünf Tagen nach Troas, woselbst wir uns sieben Tage aufhielten.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight.
Als wir aber am ersten Wochentage versammelt waren zum Brotbrechen, redete Paulus zu ihnen, da er am folgenden Morgen abreisen wollte, und dehnte seine Rede bis Mitternacht aus.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber where we were gathered together.
Es waren aber viele Lampen in dem Obergemach, wo wir versammelt waren.
9 And there sat in the window a certain young man named Eutychus, borne down with deep sleep; and as Paul discoursed yet longer, being borne down by his sleep he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.
Da überwältigte einen Jüngling Namens Eutychus, der im Fenster saß, der Schlaf, weil Paulus so lange fortsprach, und er fiel im Schlaf vom Dritten Stock hinunter, und ward tot aufgehoben.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Make ye no ado; for his life is in him.
Paulus aber gieng hinunter, beugte sich über ihn, umfaßte ihn und sprach: beunruhigt euch nicht, denn seine Seele ist in ihm.
11 And when he was gone up, and had broken the bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
nachdem er aber wieder hinaufgegangen, brach er das Brot, aß und sprach noch lange fort bis zur Morgendämmerung, dann zog er weiter.
12 And they brought the lad alive, and were not a little comforted.
Den Knaben aber führten sie lebendig davon und fühlten sich hoch getröstet.
13 But we, going before to the ship, set sail for Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, intending himself to go by land.
Wir aber waren vorausgegangen zum Schiff und fuhren nach Assos, in der Absicht, dort den Paulus aufzunehmen; denn so hatte er es angeordnet, da er selbst zu Fuß dahin kommen wollte.
14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
Wie er aber in Assos mit uns zusammentraf, nahmen wir ihn auf und gelangten nach Mitylene.
15 And sailing from thence, we came the following day over against Chios; and the next day we touched at Samos; and the day after we came to Miletus.
Und von dort ab fuhren wir am folgenden Tag auf die Höhe von Chios, am nächsten hielten wir auf Samos, und Tags darauf kamen wir nach Miletos.
16 For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
Denn Paulus hatte sich entschlossen an Ephesus vorbeizufahren, um nicht in Asia Zeit zu verlieren. Denn er eilte, womöglich auf Pfingsten in Jerusalem zu sein.
17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to him the elders of the church.
Von Miletos aus aber schickte er nach Ephesus und berief die Aeltesten der Gemeinde zu sich.
18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, after what manner I was with you all the time,
Wie sie aber bei ihm eintrafen, sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr wisset es vom ersten Tage her, da ich Asia betreten habe, wie ich mich die ganze Zeit bei euch hielt
19 serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and with trials which befell me by the plots of the Jews;
im Dienste des Herrn unter nichts als Demütigung und Thränen und Versuchungen, die mir durch die Nachstellungen der Juden erwuchsen,
20 how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,
wie ich nichts versäumte, was gut sein konnte, euch zu verkünden, und zu lehren öffentlich und in den Häusern,
21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
und Juden und Griechen beschwor, sich zu Gott zu bekehren und an unseren Herrn Jesus Christus zu glauben.
22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
Und jetzt siehe, gefesselt im Geiste ziehe ich nach Jerusalem, und weiß nicht, war mir dort begegnen wird.
23 save that the Holy Spirit testifieth unto me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
Nur bezeugt mir der heilige Geist in einer Stadt um die andere, daß Fesseln und Drangsale meiner warten.
24 But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Aber ich schlage meines Lebens Wert für nichts an, wenn es gilt, meinen Lauf zu vollenden und den Dienst den ich von dem Herrn Jesus überkommen habe, zu bezeugen die frohe Botschaft der Gnade Gottes.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, shall see my face no more.
Und nun siehe, ich weiß, daß ihr mein Angesicht nicht mehr sehen werdet, ihr alle, unter welchen ich als Verkünder des Reichs wandelte.
26 Wherefore I testify unto you this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
Darum bezeuge ich es am heutigen Tage, daß ich niemands Blut auf mir habe.
27 For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.
Denn ich habe nichts unterschlagen an der Verkündigung des vollen Willens Gottes bei euch.
28 Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood.
Achtet auf euch selbst und die ganze Herde, in welcher euch der heilige Geist zu Aufsehern bestellt hat, zu weiden die Gemeinde des Herrn, die er erworben hat durch sein eigenes Blut.
29 I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock;
Ich weiß, daß nach meinem Hingang reißende Wölfe zu euch kommen werden, welche die Herde nicht verschonen.
30 and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
Und aus eurer selbst Mitte werden Männer mit verkehrten Reden sich erheben, um die Jünger an sich zu reißen.
31 Wherefore watch ye, remembering that by the space of three years I ceased not to admonish every one night and day with tears.
Darum wachet und denket daran, daß ich drei Jahre lang Nacht und tag nicht abgelassen habe, unter Thränen einen jeden zu verwarnen.
32 And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build [you] up, and to give [you] the inheritance among all them that are sanctified.
Und für jetzt übergebe ich euch Gott und dem Worte seiner Gnade, der euch vermag zu erbauen, und das Erbe zu geben unter allen den Geheiligten.
33 I coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.
Nach Silber, Gold und Kleidern habe ich nicht getrachtet.
34 Ye yourselves know that these hands ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
Ihr selbst wisset davon, wie diese Hände für meinen Bedarf und für meine Genossen ganz und gar gedient haben.
35 In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Ich habe es euch in allewege gezeigt, daß man so mittelst Arbeit für die Schwachen sorgen soll, und der Worte des Herrn Jesus gedenken, da er selbst gesagt hat: geben ist seliger denn nehmen.
36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down and prayed with them all.
Und nachdem er so gesprochen, beugte er seine Knie, und betete mit ihnen allen.
37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him,
Es brachen aber alle in lautes Wehklagen aus, und fielen dem Paulus um den Hals, und küßten ihn,
38 sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should behold his face no more. And they brought him on his way unto the ship.
und jammerten besonders über das Wort, das er gesprochen hatte: daß sie sein Angesicht nicht mehr schauen sollten. Dann geleiteten sie ihn zum Schiffe.
