< Ngeche 7 >

1 Wuoda, rit wechena kendo ipand chikena e chunyi.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Rit chikena to ibiro bedo mangima; rit puonjna mana kaka dirit tong wangʼi.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Twegi e lith lweti kendo ndikgi e chunyi maiye.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Wach ne rieko niya, “In e nyaminwa,” to luong ngʼeyo tiend wach ni watni;
Say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
5 ginimi itangʼ ni dhako ma jachode, inibed mabor gi dhako mabayo kaachiel, kod wechene malombo ji.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7 ne aneno e dier joma ngʼeyogi tin, ne afwenyo e dier yawuowi matindo, rawera maonge gi rieko.
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10 Eka apoya nono dhakono nowuok mondo oromne, korwakore kaka ochot mopongʼ gi paro marach.
And, behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
11 En dhako ma wangʼe tek kendo maonge wichkuot, tiendene susni ma ok obed e ot;
(She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 sani onene e yo, to bangʼ sa matin en kuonde chokruok, kendo e kuonde mopondo duto oyudore.
Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13 Omiyo nokwake mi onyodhe, gi wangʼ matek, nowachone niya:
So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said unto him,
14 “An gi misango mar lalruok e oda, kawuononi asechopo singruok maga.
[I have] peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
15 Omiyo ne abiro mondo arom kodi, asemanyi to koro aseyudi!
Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 Asepedho kitandana gi suke mokikokiko moa Misri.
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
17 Asekiro moo e kitandana, gin modhi mangʼeny mangʼwe ngʼar gi mane-mane kod obala ndago.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Bi, wadhi wayud mor mar hera nyaka piny ru, mondo wabed mamor ka wawinjo maber e hera!
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 Chwora ok nitiere dala; osedhiyo e wuoth mabor.
For the goodman [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20 Nokawo mifukone mopongʼ gi pesa, kendo ok obi duogo dala nyaka bangʼ ndalo mogwarore.”
He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
21 Kamano, dhakono nowuonde gi weche mamit; mi nohoye kendo odhi kode.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
22 Gikanyono noluwe kodhi kode mana ka rwadh bwoch mitero kar yengʼo, kata ka mwanda madonjo e obeto
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Kik uyie mondo chunyu odhi e yorene, kata bayo e yorene.
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 Oseketho ngima ji mangʼeny, kendo osemiyo ji mathoth mak kwanre otho.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
(Sheol h7585)
Her house [is] the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death. (Sheol h7585)
