1 Jehova Nyasaye ok mor gi rapim ma ok nikare, to rapim makare ema omorgo.
A false balance [is] abomination to the LORD: but a just weight [is] his delight.
2 Ka sunga biro, eka wichkuot bende biro, to muolo biro kod rieko.
[When] pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly [is] wisdom.
3 Bidhruok mar joma kare telonegi, to joma ok jo-adiera kethore gi timbegi mag achach.
The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4 Mwandu onge gi ohala e ndalo mar mirima, to tim makare reso ngʼato e tho.
Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
5 Tim makare mar joma kare maonge ketho loso yoregi moriere, to joricho podho nikech richogi.
The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6 Tim makare mar joma kare resogi, to jogo ma ok jo-adiera imako gi gombogi maricho.
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in [their own] naughtiness.
7 Ka jaricho otho, to genone duto tho kode, gigo duto mane ogeno kuom tekone bedo nono.
When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust [men] perisheth.
8 Ngʼat makare ireso kuom chandruok, to chandruok biro mana ni jaricho.
The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
9 Ngʼat ma ok ja-Nyasaye hinyo jabathe gi dhoge owuon, to rieko miyo ngʼat makare tony.
An hypocrite with [his] mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
10 Ka ngʼat makare mewo, dala maduongʼ bedo mamor, ka joricho otho, to nitie koko mar mor.
When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, [there is] shouting.
11 Gweth mar joma kare kelo pak ne dala, to kuom dho joricho dala kethore.
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Ngʼat maonge gi rieko jaro jabathe, to ngʼat man-gi winjo rito lewe.
He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
13 Kuoth ketho genruok, to ngʼat ma ja-ratiro rito wach malingʼ-lingʼ.
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
14 Oganda podho nimar onge puonj, to jongʼad rieko mangʼeny miyo loch mar adier bedo.
Where no counsel [is], the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors [there is] safety.
15 Ngʼat machungʼ e gowi ni ngʼat mokia biro hinyore adier, to ngʼat motamore chungʼ e gowi ni ngʼat mokia okonyore.
He that is surety for a stranger shall smart [for it: ] and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
16 Dhako ma chunye ngʼwon yudo luor, to ji ma kitgi richo yudo mana mwandu kende.
A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong [men] retain riches.
17 Ngʼat mangʼwon yudo ohala mana ne en owuon, to ngʼat makwiny kelo chandruok ni en owuon.
The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but [he that is] cruel troubleth his own flesh.
18 Jaricho yudo ohala mar miriambo, to ngʼat machwoyo gima kare kayo pok mar adiera.
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness [shall be] a sure reward.
19 Ngʼat man-gi tim makare kendo ma ja-adiera nobed mangima, to ngʼat maluwo richo dhiyo e thone.
As righteousness [tendeth] to life: so he that pursueth evil [pursueth it] to his own death.
20 Jehova Nyasaye odagi jogo ma chunygi opongʼ gi richo, to omor gi jogo ma yoregi ler.
They that are of a froward heart [are] abomination to the LORD: but [such as are] upright in [their] way [are] his delight.
21 Bed ka ingʼeyo ni jaricho ok notony ma ok okume, to jogo makare nobed thuolo.
[Though] hand [join] in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
22 Mana ka tere mar dhahabu manie um anguro, e kaka dhako ma jaber maonge rieko chalo.
[As] a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, [so is] a fair woman which is without discretion.
23 Dwaro mar joma kare gik mana e ber kende, to geno mar joricho gik mana e mirima.
The desire of the righteous [is] only good: [but] the expectation of the wicked [is] wrath.
24 Ngʼato achiel miyo ji ma ok odewo, to bende pod mwandu medorene moloyo, to ngʼat machielo kungo mokadhore, to ochopo mana e chan.
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and [there is] that withholdeth more than is meet, but [it tendeth] to poverty.
25 Ngʼat mangʼwon biro bedo gi mwandu; to ngʼat makweyo chuny ji ibiro kwe chunye bende.
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26 Ji kwongʼo ngʼat mapando cham, to gweth bedo ni ngʼatno moyie golo chambe mondo ji ongʼiew kuome.
He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing [shall be] upon the head of him that selleth [it].
27 Ngʼat madwaro ber winjo maber, to kethruok biro ni ngʼatno madware.
He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
28 Ngʼatno mogeno kuom mwandune biro podho; to joma kare nodhi nyime mana ka oboke mangʼich.
He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
29 Ngʼatno makelo chandruok ni joge ok nonwangʼ gimoro, to ngʼat mofuwo nobed misumba ngʼat mariek.
He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool [shall be] servant to the wise of heart.
30 Olemb joma kare en yadh ngima, to ngʼatno ma reso chunje riek.
The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise.
31 Ka joma kare yudo pokgi e piny, to joma ok oluoro Nyasaye gi joricho diyud mangʼeny maromo nadi!
Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
