< 1 Jo-Korintho 10 >

1 Jowetena, ok adwar ni mondo ukia kaka kwerewa nowuotho e bwo bor polo, to kendo giduto negingʼado Nam Makwar.
I want you to bear in mind, Brothers, that all our ancestors were beneath the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 Bedo e bwo bor polono kendo ngʼado nam makwarno ema nokwan ka batiso mane omiyo gibetie achiel gi Musa.
that in the cloud and in the sea they all underwent baptism as followers of Moses;
3 Giduto negichamo chiemb chuny machalre
and that they all ate the same supernatural food,
4 kendo giduto ne gimodho pi achiel mar chuny, nikech ne gimodho e lwanda mar chuny mane wuotho kodgi; to lwandano ne en Kristo.
and all drank the same supernatural water, for they used to drink from a supernatural rock which followed them, and that rock was the Christ.
5 To kata kamano, Nyasaye ne ok omor gi ji mangʼeny kuomgi, kendo ringregi nodongʼ e thim.
Yet with most of them God was displeased; for they were ‘struck down in the desert.’
6 Gigi duto notimore mondo obednwa ranyisi masiemowa mondo kik wagomb gik maricho kaka ne gigombo.
Now these things happened as warnings to us, to teach us not to long for evil things as our forefathers longed.
7 Kik ulam nyiseche manono kaka moko kuomgi nolamo, mana kaka ondiki niya, “Ji nobet piny mondo gichiem kendo gimethi, kendo negia malo mondo gimiel miende dwanyruok mag oganda.”
Do not become idolaters, as some of them became. Scripture says — ‘The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to dance.’
8 Kik waterre kaka moko kuomgi notimo, mi ji alufu piero ariyo gadek kuomgi notho odiechiengʼ achiel.
Nor let us act immorally, as some of them acted, with the result that twenty-three thousand of them fell dead in a single day.
9 Kik watem Ruoth, kaka moko kuomgi notimo, mi thuonde nonegogi.
Nor let us try the patience of the Lord too far, as some of them tried it, with the result that they ‘were, one after another, destroyed by the snakes.’
10 Bende kik wangʼur, kaka moko kuomgi notimo, mi malaika mar tho nonegogi.
And do not murmur, as some of them murmured, and so ‘were destroyed by the Angel of Death.’
11 Gigi duto notimorenigi kaka ranyisi, kendo nondiknwagi mondo gibednwa siem, wan ma wadak e ndalo ma giko piny chiegnini. (aiōn g165)
These things happened to them by way of warning, and were recorded to serve as a caution to us, in whose days the close of the ages has come. (aiōn g165)
12 Omiyo, ka iparo ni ichungʼ motegno bed motangʼ, nono to ipodho!
Therefore let the man who thinks that he stands take care that he does not fall.
13 Onge tem museneno mopogore gi ma ji duto neno. Nyasaye rito singruokne, ok obi yie mondo otemu mohingo tekreu. To e sa ma itemoueno, obiro miyou yo munyalo tonygo mondo ubed gi teko mar timo sinani.
No temptation has come upon you that is not common to all mankind. God will not fail you, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength; but, when he sends the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, so that you may have strength to endure.
14 Kuom mano, osiepena mageno, ringuru ua kuom nyiseche manono.
Therefore, my dear friends, shun the worship of idols.
15 Awuoyo kodu kaka joma parogi nikare, omiyo paruru matut tiend wach ma awachonuno.
I speak to you as man of discernment; form your own judgment about what I am saying.
16 Donge kikombe mar gweth ma wagoyene Nyasaye erokamano ketowa e lalruok achiel e remb Kristo? Koso makati mwangʼingo donge ketowa e lalruok achiel, e ringre Kristo?
In the Cup of Blessing which we bless, is not there a sharing in the blood of the Christ? And in the Bread which we break, is not there a sharing in the Body of the Christ?
17 Nikech nitie makati achiel, koro wan ringruok achiel, kata obedo ni wangʼeny, nikech wan duto wachamo makati achielno.
The Bread is one, and we, though many, are one body; for we all partake of that one Bread.
18 Ka wakawo jo-Israel kaka ranyisi: Donge joma chamo gik mokete kendo mar misango bet e lalruok achiel gi kendo mar misangono?
Look at the people of Israel. Do not those who eat the sacrifices share with the altar?
19 Diponi awacho ni misango mochiwne nyiseche manono en gimoro kata ni nyasaye manono nigi tiende?
What do I mean? you ask. That an offering made to an idol, or the idol itself, is anything?
20 Ooyo! Awacho ni misango ma jopiny makia Nyasaye timo, gitimo ni jochiende, to ok ni Nyasaye. To ok adwar mondo ubedi e lalruok achiel gi jochiende.
No; what I say is that the sacrifices offered by the Gentiles ‘are offered to demons and to a Being who is no God,’ and I do not want you to share with demons.
21 Ok unyal madho kikombe Ruoth kaachiel gi kikombe jochiende bende; kendo ok unyal chiemo e mesa Ruoth, ka uchiemo e mesa jochiende bende.
You cannot drink both the Cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake at the Table of the Lord and at the table of demons.
22 Koso wadwaro miyo Ruoth mirima? Waparo ni watek moloye?
Or ‘are we to rouse the jealousy of the Lord’? Are we stronger than he?
23 Ngʼato nyalo wacho niya, “Oyiena timo gimoro amora mwadwaro,” to gik moko duto ma watimo ok kelnwa konyruok. Ngʼat machielo to wacho niya, “Oyiena timo gimoro amora madwaro,” to gik moko duto ma watimo ok kelnwa dongruok.
Everything is allowable! Yes, but everything is not profitable. Everything is allowable! Yes, but everything does not build up character.
24 Kik ngʼato dwar mana gik makonye en owuon, to ngʼato mondo odwar gima konyo jowadgi bende.
A man must not study his own interests, but the interests of others.
25 Un thuolo mar chamo ringʼo mongʼiew e chiro ma ok ubedo gi penjo mathoth e chunyu
Eat anything that is sold in the market, without making inquiries to satisfy your scruples;
26 nikech Muma wacho niya, “Piny kaachiel gi gik moko duto manie iye, gin mag Jehova Nyasaye.”
for ‘the earth, with all that is in it, belongs to the Lord.’
27 Ka ngʼat ma ok oyie kuom Kristo ogweli e chiemo, kendo ihero dhi, to cham gimoro amora moketi e nyimi ma ok ichich gi penjo mathoth e chunyi.
If an unbeliever invites you to his house and you consent to go, eat anything that is put before you, without making inquiries to satisfy your scruples.
28 To ka ngʼato onyisi niya, “Chiemoni ne olosi mondo otimgo misango ne nyiseche manono,” to kik icham chiemono, nikech wach ma ngʼatno onyisino, kendo nikech wach mar chich ma in-go.
But, if any one should say to you ‘This has been offered in sacrifice to an idol,’ then, for the sake of the speaker and his scruples, do not eat it.
29 Tim kamano mar konyo chuny ngʼatno, to ok nikech konyruokni. Ere gima omiyo paro manie chuny ngʼat machielo ema mona timo gima aneno ni an gi thuolo mar timo?
I do not say ‘your’ scruples, but ‘his.’ For why should the freedom that I claim be condemned by the scruples of another?
30 Ka agoyo erokamano ni chiemo ma achamo, to angʼo momiyo ikwana ka jaketho ne gima agoyonee Nyasaye erokamano?
If, for my part, I take the food thankfully, why should I be abused for eating that for which I give thanks?
31 Omiyo gimoro amora mutimo, bed ni uchiemo kata umetho, to timgiuru duto mondo Nyasaye oyud duongʼ.
Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do everything to the honour of God.
32 Kik ubed rachwany ni jo-Yahudi, kata ni jo-Yunani, kata ni kanisa Nyasaye,
Do not cause offence either to Jews or Greeks or to the Church of God;
33 mana kaka an awuon atemo moro ji duto e gik moko duto matimo, ka ok amany mana gik makonya an awuon, to atimo gik makonyo ji mangʼeny, mondo kanyalore to giyud warruok.
for I, also, try to please everybody in everything, not seeking my own advantage, but that of men in general, that they may be saved.
