約伯記 8
1 書亞人比勒達回答說：
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2 這些話你要說到幾時？ 口中的言語如狂風要到幾時呢？
How long wilt thou speak these [things]? and [how long shall] the words of thy mouth [be like] a strong wind?
3 上帝豈能偏離公平？ 全能者豈能偏離公義？
Doth God pervert judgment; or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
4 或者你的兒女得罪了他； 他使他們受報應。
If thy children have sinned against him, and he hath cast them away for their transgression;
5 你若殷勤地尋求上帝， 向全能者懇求；
If thou wouldst seek to God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6 你若清潔正直， 他必定為你起來， 使你公義的居所興旺。
If thou [wert] pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
7 你起初雖然微小， 終久必甚發達。
Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end would greatly increase.
8 請你考問前代， 追念他們的列祖所查究的。
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
9 我們不過從昨日才有，一無所知； 我們在世的日子好像影兒。
(For we [are but of] yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth [are] a shadow: )
10 他們豈不指教你，告訴你， 從心裏發出言語來呢？
Will they not teach thee, [and] tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11 蒲草沒有泥豈能發長？ 蘆荻沒有水豈能生發？
Can the rush grow without mire? can the flag grow without water?
12 尚青的時候，還沒有割下， 比百樣的草先枯槁。
Whilst it [is] yet in its greenness, [and] not cut down, it withereth before any [other] herb.
13 凡忘記上帝的人，景況也是這樣； 不虔敬人的指望要滅沒。
So [are] the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:
14 他所仰賴的必折斷； 他所倚靠的是蜘蛛網。
Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust [shall be] a spider's web.
15 他要倚靠房屋，房屋卻站立不住； 他要抓住房屋，房屋卻不能存留。
He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
16 他在日光之下發青， 蔓子爬滿了園子；
He [is] green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
17 他的根盤繞石堆， 扎入石地。
His roots are wrapped about the heap, [and] seeth the place of stones.
18 他若從本地被拔出， 那地就不認識他，說： 我沒有見過你。
If he shall destroy him from his place, then [it] shall deny him, [saying], I have not seen thee.
19 看哪，這就是他道中之樂； 以後必另有人從地而生。
Behold, this [is] the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
20 上帝必不丟棄完全人， 也不扶助邪惡人。
Behold, God will not cast away a perfect [man], neither will he help the evil doers:
21 他還要以喜笑充滿你的口， 以歡呼充滿你的嘴。
Till he shall fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
22 恨惡你的要披戴慚愧； 惡人的帳棚必歸於無有。
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to naught.
