Matthai 9
1 Hahoi, Jisuh ni long dawk a kâcui teh, a ma onae kho tui namran lah a pha navah,
And, entering into a boat, he crossed over, and came into his own city.
2 a kutkhok kamkhuen e tami buet touh ikhun dawk sut ka yan e hah ama koe a thokhai awh. Jisuh ni hotnaw e yuemnae hah a hmu navah, ka kamkhuen e tami hanelah, ka capa, kângai hanh. Na yon ngaithoum lah ao toe.
And lo! they were bringing unto him a paralytic, on a couch, laid prostrate; and Jesus, seeing, their faith, said to the paralytic, —Take courage! child, forgiven are thy sins.
3 Cakathutkungnaw tangawn ni teh Cathut ka tapuet lah lawk a dei telah a pouk awh.
And lo! certain of the scribes, said within themselves, —This man, speaketh profanely!
4 Jisuh ni hotnaw e lungpouk hah a hmu navah, nangmouh ni bangkongmaw utsinnae lung na tawn awh.
And Jesus, knowing, their inward thoughts, said, —To what end are ye cherishing evil thoughts within your hearts?
5 Bang lawk maw dei bet ka yawihnawn. Na yon ngaithoum lah ao toe tie maw bet ka yawihnawn, nahoeh teh thaw nateh cet leih tie maw bet ka yawihnawn.
For which is easier—To say, Forgiven are thy sins, —or to say, Rise and be walking!
6 Tami Capa teh talaivan vah yon ngaithoum thainae kâtawnnae ka tawn tie nangmouh ni na panue awh nahanelah, thaw leih. Na phailei hah sin nateh nama im vah cet leih, telah ka kamkhuen e tami hah atipouh.
But, that ye may know, that the Son of Man hath, authority, upon the earth, to be forgiving sins, then, saith he to the paralytic, —Rise! take up thy couch, and withdraw unto thy house.
7 Ahni ni a thaw teh a ma im vah a cei.
And, rising, he departed unto his house.
8 Tami kamkhuengnaw ni a hmu awh navah a kângairu awh teh, taminaw koevah hettelah sak thainae kapoekung kahring Cathut hah a pholen awh.
Now the multitudes, seeing, were struck with fear, and glorified the God who had given authority, such as this, unto men.
9 Hote hmuen koehoi Jisuh a cei navah, tamuk cawngnae im dawk ka tahung e Matthai hah a hmu navah, ka hnuk kâbang haw atipouh. Ahni hai a thaw teh, a hnuk a kâbang.
And Jesus, passing aside from thence, saw a man presiding over the tax-office, called, Matthew, and saith unto him, —Be following me. And, arising, he followed him.
10 Hathnukkhu imthung bu ca hanlah a tahung navah, tamuk kacawngnaw hoi tamikathoutnaw a tho awh teh, a hnukkâbangnaw hoi rawca reirei a ven awh.
And it came to pass, as he was reclining in the house, that lo! many tax-collectors and sinners, came, and were reclining together with Jesus and his disciples.
11 Farasinaw ni a hmu awh toteh, a hnukkâbangnaw koe, nangmae Bawipa teh bangkongmaw tamuk kacawngnaw, tamikathoutnaw hoi cungtalah reirei a canei vaw, atipouh awh.
And, the Pharisees, observing it, began to say unto his disciples, —Wherefore, with tax-collectors and sinners, doth your Teacher eat?
12 Jisuh ni a thai navah, a tak kadamnaw ni tâsibawi panki awh hoeh. Kapatawnaw ni doeh a panki awh.
And, he, hearing it, said, —No need have the strong, of a physician, but they who are sick.
13 Thuengnae hlak hai pahrennae doeh ka ngai tie na thai panuek awh nahanlah cet a nateh kamtu awh. Tami kalannaw kaw hanlah ka tho hoeh, tamikayonnaw hanelah doeh ka tho, atipouh.
But go ye, and learn what this meaneth, —Mercy, I desire, and not, sacrifice; For I came, not to call the righteous, but sinners.
14 Hatnavah Jawhan e a hnukkâbangnaw ni ahni koe a hnai awh teh, kaimouh hoi Farasinaw ni rawca ka hai awh. Bangkongmaw na hnukkâbangnaw ni rawca a hai awh hoeh vaw, atipouh awh.
Then come near unto him the disciples of John, saying, —Wherefore do, we, and the Pharisees, fast, whereas, thy disciples, fast not?
15 Jisuh ni, yupaluenkung teh amae a huikonaw hoi rei ao navah, ahnimouh teh a lungmathoe a maw. Yupaluenkung hah a huikonaw hoi kapek teh alouklah ceitakhainae tue ka phat han. Hattoteh ahnimouh ni rawca a hai awh han.
And Jesus said unto them, —Can, the sons of the bridechamber, mourn, so long as, the bridegroom, is, with them? But days will come, when the bridegroom, shall be taken from them, and, then, will they fast.
16 Khohna a kapawn e hah a katha e hoi ouk bo awh hoeh. Hottelah bo pawiteh bonae ni bo e hah vak sawn vaiteh hoe kâphi han.
Howbeit, no one, layeth on a patch of unshrunk cloth, upon an old garment, —for the shrinking of it teareth away from the garment, and, a worse rent, is made.
17 Hot patetvanlah, phaivuen um karuem dawk misurtui katha e hlun boihoeh. Hottelah hlun pawiteh, phaivuen um karuem tangpawk vaiteh, misurtui a yu han, phaivuen um hai karawk han. Ahruem e misurtui teh a katha e phaivuen um dawk doeh ouk hlun. Hottelah hlun to doeh kahni touh hoi a cuem han, atipouh.
Neither pour they new wine into old skins: otherwise at least, the skins are burst, and, the wine, runneth out, and, the skins, are spoiled, —but they pour new wine into unused skins, and, both, are together preserved.
18 Hete lawknaw a dei lahun nah, bawi buet touh a tho teh, a tabo laihoi Bawipa, ka canu teh atuhlangca a due toe. Hatei, na tho teh, a van vah na kut na toung sin pawiteh bout a hring han atipouh.
While, these things, he was speaking unto them, lo! a [certain] ruler, came, and began bowing down to him, saying, —My daughter, just now died! But come, and lay thy hand upon, her, and she shall live.
19 Jisuh ni a thaw teh a hnukkâbangnaw hoi ahnie a hnuk a kâbang awh.
And Jesus, arising, was following him, also his disciples.
20 Hatnavah, kum hlaikahni touh thung thikui patawnae ka tawn e napui buet touh ni,
And lo! a woman, having a flow of blood twelve years, coming near behind, touched the fringe of his mantle.
21 a kâkhu e hni pawi ma hah dek ka tek pawiteh ka dam han telah a pouk dawkvah, rek a hnai teh hni pawi hah dek a tek.
For she kept saying within herself, —If only I touch his mantle, I shall be made well!
22 Jisuh ni a kamlang teh hote napui hah a hmu navah, ka canu, kângai hanh. Na yuemnae ni na patawnae a dam sak toe, atipouh. Hat nah hote napui teh a patawnae a dam pouh.
And, Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, —Take courage! daughter, Thy faith, hath made thee well. And the woman was made well, from that hour.
23 Bawi im a pha awh toteh, tapueng longpan kakhawngnaw hoi taminaw teh ruengrueng ati awh e a hmu navah,
And, Jesus, coming, into the house of the ruler, and seeing the flute-players and the multitude in confusion, was saying:
24 na phoun awh haw, napui ca teh kadout e nahoeh, ka ip e doeh, atipouh. Hahoi ahnimanaw ni a panuikhai awh.
Give place! for the maiden died not, but is sleeping. And they began to deride him.
25 Haw e taminaw hah koung a tâco sak teh, imthungkhu a kâen, napui ca e a kut dawk a tek pouh tahma vah, napui ca teh hluet a thaw.
But, when the multitude had been put forth, he went in, and grasped her hand, —and the maiden arose.
26 Hote kamthang teh khoram pueng dawk a kamthang.
And forth went this report, into the whole of that land.
27 Jisuh ni hote hmuen koehoi a tâco navah, a mit ka dawn e tami kahni touh ni a hnuk a kâbang roi teh, Devit capa, kaimouh roi heh na pahren haw, telah a hramki roi.
And, as Jesus, was passing aside from thence, there followed him, two blind men, crying aloud and saying, —Have mercy on us, O Son of David!
28 Imthung a kâen navah a mit ka dawn e roi ni rek a hnai roi. Bawipa ni hete heh kai ni ka coung sak thai tie hah na yuem roi maw telah a pacei. Ahnimouh roi ni, ka yuem Bawipa ati roi.
And, when he entered the house, the blind men came unto him, —and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye, that I can, do this? They say unto him, Yea, Lord!
29 Ahnimouh roi e a mit dawk a tek pouh teh, na yuemnae patetlah nangmouh roi koe awmseh, atipouh navah ahnimouh roi e mit teh a ang.
Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it done unto you.
30 Jisuh ni, apihai panuek sak roi hanh lah a, telah kâhruetcuetnae a poe.
And their eyes were opened. And Jesus, sternly charged them, saying, Mind! let no one know!
31 Hatei, ahnimouh roi ni a cei roi teh, hote kamthang hah ram thung pueng a pathang roi.
They, however, going forth, made him known throughout the whole of that land.
32 Ahnimanaw a cei a hnukkhu, kahrai ni a man e tamipathu buet touh ama koe a hrawi awh.
And, as, they, were going forth, lo! there was brought to him, a dumb man, demonized.
33 A thung e kahrai a pâlei pouh toteh, hote ka pathu e ni lawk a dei. Ka kamkhueng e pueng teh a kângai lah a ru awh teh, Isarel miphun dawk het patetlah e hmawt boihoeh rah ati awh.
And, the demon being cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the multitudes marvelled, saying, —Never, was it seen thus, in Israel.
34 Farasinaw ni kahraituilinaw e bawi a kâuep laihoi doeh kahraituilinaw a pâlei ati awh.
[But, the Pharisees, beg to say, In the ruler of the demons, is he casting out the demons.]
35 Jisuh ni khopui khote pueng dawk a cei teh, sinakoknaw dawkvah uknaeram kamthang kahawi hah a cangkhai. Patawnae a cawngca hoi kapatawnaw a dam sak.
And Jesus was going round all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the glad-message of the kingdom, —and curing every disease, and every infirmity.
36 Ahnimanaw teh ngawt a tawn awh toung dawkvah, tukhoumkung kaawm hoeh e, pahnawt e tunaw patetlah a hmu.
But, seeing the multitudes, he was moved with compassion concerning them, because they were torn and thrown down, like sheep hating no shepherd.
37 Hatnavah, Jisuh ni, canga hane moi ao. Ka tawk e naw teh a younca.
Then, saith he unto his disciples, The harvest, indeed, is great, but, the labourers, few;
38 Hatdawkvah, law katawnkung koe ratoum awh, canga sak hanelah thawtawkkung a patoun thai nahanlah atipouh.
Beg ye, therefore, of the Lord of the harvest, —That he would thrust forth labourers, into his harvest.
