1 Ce a qam khui a pha lawnaak nyn thum voei a law awh, Kaiserea khaw awhkawng Jerusalem na Festa ce cet hy,
Festus therefore, being come into the eparchy, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
2 cawh khawsoeih boeikhqi ingkaw Juda a hqam cakhqi ce a haiawh cun unawh, Paul ami thawlh saknaak akawng ce kqawn pe uhy.
And the chief priests and the chief of the Jews laid informations before him against Paul, and besought him,
3 Festa a venawh, a mingmih ak kawngaih sai pe nawh cekkhqi a kut awh Paul ce a hlah peek aham qeennaak thoeh khak uhy, kawtih cekkhqi ing Paul ce him aham lam awh thlang ana mah sak hawh uhy.
asking as a grace against him that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying people in wait to kill him on the way.
4 Festa ing, “Paul ve Kaiserea khaw awh khawh na awm hy, a di hlanawh kai awm cena cet kawng nyng.
Festus therefore answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to set out shortly.
5 Na mimah anglakawhkaw a hqamca thlang pynoet ingawm nik bawng unawh cawhkaw thlang ce thawlh naak a taak awhtaw nami oelh khak khak aham awm saw,” tinak khqi hy.
Let therefore the persons of authority among you, says he, going down too, if there be anything in this man, accuse him.
6 Cekkhqi a venawh khaw kqet nyn nu hqa nyn nu a awm coengawh, Kaiserea khawna ce cet nawh a khawngawi nyn awh awidengnaak a taak awh Paul ce a haina khy sak hy.
And having remained among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the next day, having sat down on the judgment-seat, commanded Paul to be brought.
7 Paul a law awh, Jerusalem nakawng anuk law Judakhqi ing chung unawh Paul ce thawlh puk uhy, cehlai a thawlhnaak am tu pe thai uhy.
And when he was come, the Jews who were come down from Jerusalem stood round, bringing many and grievous charges which they were not able to prove:
8 Cekcoengawh Paul ing ak cangnaak awi ce kqawn hy. “Judakhqi a anaa awi ing ak kalh na bawkim ing ak kalh na Kaisara ing ak kalh na ikaw awm am sai nyng,” tina hy.
Paul answering for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I offended [in] anything.
9 Festa ing Judakhqi ak kawngaih ce sai aham a ngaih awh, Paul a venawh, “Jerusalem na cet nawh vawhkaw thawlh ami nik puknaak awh ve ka haiawh dyih aham nak ngaih nu?” tina hy.
But Festus, desirous of obliging the Jews, to acquire their favour, answering Paul, said, Art thou willing to go up to Jerusalem, there to be judged before me concerning these things?
10 Paul ing, “Awideng aham awm nyng seiawm Kaisara a haiawh ni dyih aham ka ngaih. Namah ing ak leek cana na sim hawh amyihna Judahkhqi ak khan awh ikawmyih a thawlhnaak awm am sai nyng.
But Paul said, I am standing before the judgment-seat of Caesar, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou also very well knowest.
11 kai ing ni thihnaak khoek dy awh thawlhnaak ka sai vik awhtaw, thih aham ap tha na nyng. Cehlai vawhkaw Judakhqi ing thawlh ami nik puknaak ve ama thym awhtaw, u ingawm kai ve a mingmih a kut awh amni pe thai kaw. Kaisar a haai awh dyi vang nyng,” tina hy.
If then I have done any wrong and committed anything worthy of death, I do not deprecate dying; but if there is nothing of those things of which they accuse me, no man can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.
12 Festa ing cawh kaw awi ak kqawnkung khqi mi a ming doet qu coeng awh, “Kaisara a haiawh dyih aham thoeh hyk ti. Cedawngawh Kaisara a venna cet kawp ti,” tina hy.
Then Festus, having conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed to Caesar. To Caesar shalt thou go.
13 Khawnghi kawlhkalh a di awh Festa hqip aham Agrippa sangpahrang ingkaw Bernice ce Kaiserea na law hy nih.
And when certain days had elapsed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Caesarea to salute Festus.
14 Khawnghi cawh a ni hawnaak hawh dawngawh, Festa ing Paul akawng ce sangpahrang a venawh kqawn pehy. “Vawh thawng ak tla thlang pynoet Felix ing cehta hy.
And when they had spent many days there, Festus laid before the king the matters relating to Paul, saying, There is a certain man left prisoner by Felix,
15 Jerusalem khaw na ka ceh awh, Juda khawsoeih boeikhqi ingkaw a hqamcakhqi ing anih ce thawlh sak unawh thih sak aham thoeh law uhy.
concerning whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid informations, requiring judgment against him:
16 Kai ing, thlang pynoet ing amah thawlh ak pukkhqi mi hqum qu unawh ak cangnaak awi kak kqawn hlanawh thlang a kut awh peek aham taw Rom phung amni.
to whom I answered, It is not [the] custom of the Romans to give up any man before that the accused have the accusers face to face, and he have got opportunity of defence touching the charge.
17 Kai a venawh ami law awh, a mingmih ak awi ce yih a eng kaana a khawngawi nyn awh awidengnaak sai nyng saw cawhkaw thlang ce khy sak nyng.
When therefore they had come together here, without putting it off, I sat the next day on the judgment-seat and commanded the man to be brought:
18 Anih thawlh amik pukkhqi ce dyi unawh thawlh amik puk awh kak poeknaak amyihna ikaw thawlhnaak ami thawlh saknaak tang tang awm am awm hy.
concerning whom the accusers, standing up, brought no such accusation of guilt as I supposed;
19 A mimah a bawknaak awh awipungnaak ingkaw ak thi hawh Jesu ce Paul ing hqing tlaih hy a ti dawngawh a ming oelh qunaak na awm hy.
but had against him certain questions of their own system of worship, and concerning a certain Jesus who is dead, whom Paul affirmed to be living.
20 Cemyih awipungnaak ce ikawmyihna kqawn aham awm am sim nyng; cedawngawh Jerusalem na cet nawh cawh awideng aham ak ngaih hly nu tinawh doet nyng.
And as I myself was at a loss as to an inquiry into these things, I said, Was he willing to go to Jerusalem and there to be judged concerning these things?
21 Cehlai paul ing Kaisara ak awi tlyknaak ce a thoeh dawngawh, Kaisara a venna a ceh hlan dy ak nep na khoem aham awi pe nyng,” tina hy.
But Paul having appealed to be kept for the cognisance of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I shall send him to Caesar.
22 Cawh Agrippa ing Festa a venawh, “Kamah qoe ing anih ce awi doet aham ngaih nyng,” tina hy. Anih ing, “Khawngawi awh doet bit kawp ti,” tina hy.
And Agrippa [said] to Festus, I myself also would desire to hear the man. To-morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 A khawngawi nyn awh Agrippa ingkaw Bernice ce ani sui ani sak ing thoeih ang cam qu hqet nih nawh thlang kqeng anglakawh qam uk boeikhqi, khawk khui sawikung a hqamcakhqi mi lut hy nih. Cawh Festa ing awi pe nawh Paul ce law pyi uhy.
On the morrow therefore, Agrippa being come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and having entered into the hall of audience, with the chiliarchs and the men of distinction of the city, and Festus having given command, Paul was brought.
24 Festa ing, “Agrippa sangpahrang ingkaw vawhkaw ak awm thlangkhqi boeih, vawhkaw thlang ve hu uhyk ti, ve ak thlang ak camawh Jerusalem ingkaw Sisarea khaw awhkaw Juda thlangkhqi boeih ing ka venawh qeennaak thoeh law uhy, ve ak thlang ve a hqing aham am tyng hy ti unawh khy uhy.
And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this person, concerning whom all the multitude of the Jews applied to me both in Jerusalem and here, crying out against [him] that he ought not to live any longer.
25 Kai ingtaw a thihnaak khoek ikaw thawlhnaak am sai hy tice hu nyng, cehlai Kaisara boei a venawh ceh aham a thoeh dawngawh Rom na ceh sak aham kqawn hawh nyng.
But I, having found that he had done nothing worthy of death, and this [man] himself having appealed to Augustus, I have decided to send him;
26 Cehlai anih akawng Kaisarar a venawh ikawmyihna ca ka qee peek hly tice ak leek na am sim hlan nyng. Cedawngawh tuh nangmih boeih a haiawh law pyi nyng, awipui khyt na, nang Agrippa sangpahrang a haiawh, vawh kawng qee hly kawi awm ak awm hly khoem hy voei nu ti nyng.
concerning whom I have nothing certain to write to my lord. Wherefore I have brought him before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, so that an examination having been gone into I may have something to write:
27 Ikawtih thawk tla thlang pynoet thawlh amik puknaak akawng ak nep cana a sim kaana tyih sawhqat ham taw am nep hy tinawh poek nyng,” tina hy.
for it seems to me senseless, sending a prisoner, not also to signify the charges against him.
