< 1 Timothy 3 >

1 He ol taha uepom pai. Khat khat long ni hiphoelnah te a hue atah bibi then ni a hue.
This saying is true. If one earnestly seek the office of a bishop, he desires an excellent work.
2 Te dongah hiphoelkung he hmabuet la, yuu va pakhat la, aka khuel la, a cuepmueih la, mikcop la, moeihoeih la, khala la, om ham a kuek.
The bishop, then, must be unblamed, the husband of one wife, vigilant, prudent, of comely behavior, hospitable, fit to teach;
3 Yumi mahpawh, kuthlah mahpawh, a kodo saeh, hohmuh mahpawh, tangka moo mahpawh.
not given to wine, no striker, but gentle; not quarrelsome, nor a lover of money:
4 Amah imkhui tea then la mawt saeh. A ca rhoek te hinomnah neh boengainah khuiah boeih om uh saeh.
one who rules well his own house, having his children in subjection to him with all gravity:
5 Te dongah khat khat long ni amah imkhui te mawt ham a ming pawt atah Pathen kah hlangboelte metlama cuncah eh?
for if one know not how to govern his own house; how shall he take care of the congregation of God?
6 Tanoe hlangthai boel saeh. Te daengah ni koevoei uh pawt vetih rhaithae kah dumlai khuiaha cungku pawt eh.
Not a new convert, lest being puffed up with pride, he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Te phoeiah poeng lamkah laipai then khueh ham a kuek. Te daengah ni hnaelcoenah neh rhaithae kah thaang dongaha cungku pawt eh.
Moreover, he must even have a good report from those without, that he may not fall into reproach, and the snare of the devil.
8 Te vanbangla tueihyoeih rhoek khaw a hinom saeh. Olrhak boel saeh. Misurtuite muep ngaithuen boel saeh. Tangkarhai boel saeh.
The deacons, in like manner, must be grave, not double-tongued, not giving themselves to much wine, not persons who earn money by base methods;
9 A caih la mingcimnah neh tangnah olhuep te pom saeh.
holding fast the secret of the faith with a pure conscience.
10 Amihte lamhma la nuemnai phoeiah cimbit la aka om loh bi saeh.
But let those also be first proved: then let them exercise the office of the deacon, being without blame.
11 a yuurhoek khaw hinom saeh. Hmui yoi mahpawh, khuel saeh. A cungkuem dongaha uepom saeh.
The women, in like manner, must be grave, not slanderers; but vigilant, faithful in all things.
12 tueihyoeih rhoek he yuu pakhat kah va la om saeh. A carhoek neh amah imkhui tea then la mawt saeh.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling well their children and their families.
13 Balh aka doedanrhoek long ni a paihmuen thena kutloh tih tangnah neh Jesuh Khrih ah muepa sayalh.
For they who have performed the office of a deacon well, procure to themselves an excellent degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 He rhoek he nang ham ka daektih nang taengah thamaa la pawk ham ka ngaiuep.
These things I write to you, hoping to come to you soon.
15 Tedae ka koe mai atah Pathen imkhui kaha kuek khosak tena ming van ni. Te tah aka hing Pathen kah hlangboel, oltak kah rhungsut neh khoengim pawn ni.
But if I tarry long, that you may know you ought to behave yourselves in the house of God, which is the congregation of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.--
16 Hingcimnah olhuep kaha len he oelh om pawt la om. Amah tah pumsa ah tuengtih mueihla loha tang sak te puencawn rhoek loh a hmuh. Namtomrhoek taenglaa hoe dongah Diklai aha tangnah uh tih thangpomnah neha loh.
And, confessedly, great is the secret of godliness; --he who has manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit; seen of messengers, proclaimed to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
