< Luka 23 >
1 Kenaka gulu lonse la anthuwo linayimirira ndi kumutengera kwa Pilato.
The whole company of them rose up and brought him before Pilate.
2 Ndipo iwo anayamba kumuneneza nati, “Ife tinapeza munthu uyu akusokoneza anthu a mtundu wathu ndipo amatsutsa zopereka msonkho kwa Kaisara komanso amati ndi Khristu, Mfumu.”
They began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding paying taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is the Christ, a king."
3 Pamenepo Pilato anamufunsa Yesu kuti, “Kodi Iwe ndiwe Mfumu ya Ayuda?” Yesu anayankha kuti, “Mwatero ndinu.”
Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" He answered him, "You say so."
4 Kenaka Pilato anawawuza akulu a ansembe ndi gulu la anthu, “Ine sindikumupeza cholakwa munthuyu.”
Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, "I find no basis for a charge against this man."
5 Koma iwo analimbikirabe kuti, “Iyeyu amasokoneza anthu ku Yudeya konse ndi chiphunzitso chake, Iyeyu anayambira ku Galileya ndipo wayenda mtunda wonse mpaka kuno.”
But they insisted, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place."
6 Pakumva zimenezi, Pilato anafunsa ngati munthuyo ndi Mgalileya.
But when Pilate heard it, he asked if the man was a Galilean.
7 Iye atamva kuti Yesu anali pansi pa ulamuliro wa Herode, anamutumiza kwa Herodeyo, amene pa nthawi imeneyo analinso mu Yerusalemu.
When he found out that he was in Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.
8 Herode ataona Yesu, anakondwa kwambiri, chifukwa kwa nthawi yayitali, ankafunitsitsa atamuona. Kuchokera pa zimene anamva za Iye, anayembekezera kuti achita zodabwitsa.
Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.
9 Iye anamufunsa mafunso ambiri, koma Yesu sanayankhe.
He questioned him with many words, but he gave no answers.
10 Akulu a ansembe ndi aphunzitsi amalamulo, anayimirira pamenepo ndi kumuneneza kwambiri.
The chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.
11 Pamenepo Herode ndi asilikali ake anamuseka ndi kumunyoza Iye. Atamuveka mkanjo wonyezimira, anamutumizanso kwa Pilato.
Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.
12 Tsiku limenelo, Herode ndi Pilato anakhala abwenzi. Zisanachitike izi anali adani.
Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before that they were enemies with each other.
13 Pilato anasonkhanitsa akulu a ansembe, oweruza ndi anthu,
Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 ndipo anawawuza kuti, “Munabweretsa munthuyu kwa ine ngati ndiye amawuza anthu kuti awukire. Ine ndamufunsa pamaso panu ndipo sindinapeze chomuyimbira mlandu.
and said to them, "You brought this man to me as one that subverts the people, and see, I have examined him before you, and found no basis for a charge against this man concerning those things of which you accuse him.
15 Herodenso sanapeze chifukwa pakuti wamutumizanso kwa ife monga mmene mukuoneramu. Iyeyu sanachite chinthu chakuti aphedwe.
Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us, and see, nothing worthy of death has been done by him.
16 Nʼchifukwa chake, ine ndingomulanga, nʼkumumasula.”
I will therefore chastise him and release him."
17 (Pa nthawi yachikondwerero cha Paska iye ankayenera kumasula munthu mmodzi).
(Now he had to release one prisoner to them at the feast.)
18 Onse pamodzi anafuwula kuti, “Muchotseni munthuyu! Timasulireni Baraba!”
But they all shouted out together, saying, "Away with this man. Release to us Barabbas"
19 (Baraba anaponyedwa mʼndende chifukwa choyambitsa chipolowe mu mzinda ndi kupha).
(one who was thrown into prison for a certain revolt in the city, and for murder.)
20 Pofuna kumumasula Yesu, Pilato anawadandaulira iwo.
Then Pilate spoke to them again, wanting to release Jesus,
21 Koma iwo anapitirirabe kufuwula kuti, “Mpachikeni! Mpachikeni!”
but they shouted, saying, "Crucify. Crucify him."
22 Kachitatu anawafunsanso iwo kuti, “Chifukwa chiyani? Kodi munthu uyu wachita choyipa chanji? Ine sindinapeze cholakwa mwa Iye chakuti aphedwe choncho ndingomukwapula ndi kumumasula.”
He said to them the third time, "Why? What evil has this man done? I have found no capital crime in him. I will therefore chastise him and release him."
23 Koma ndi mawu ofuwulitsa, analimbikirabe kuti Iye apachikidwe, ndipo kufuwulako kunapitirira.
But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. And their voices, and those of the chief priests, prevailed.
24 Choncho Pilato anatsimikiza kuchita zofuna zawozo.
Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.
25 Iye anawamasulira munthu amene anaponyedwa mʼndende chifukwa choyambitsa chipolowe ndi kupha, amene ankamufunayo, ndipo anawapatsa Yesu mwakufuna kwawo.
He released him who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus up to their will.
26 Ndipo pamene ankapita naye, anagwira Simoni wa ku Kurene, amene ankachokera ku munda, namusenzetsa mtanda namuyendetsa pambuyo pa Yesu.
When they led him away, they grabbed one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and placed on him the cross, to carry it after Jesus.
27 Gulu lalikulu la anthu linamutsata Iye, kuphatikiza amayi amene ankabuma ndi kumulirira.
A large crowd of the people followed him, including women who also mourned and lamented him.
28 Yesu anatembenuka nati kwa iwo, “Ana aakazi a Yerusalemu, musandilirire Ine; dzililireni nokha ndi ana anu.
But Jesus, turning to them, said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
29 Pakuti nthawi idzabwera imene inu mudzati, ‘Ndi odala amayi osabereka, mimba zimene sizinabereke ndi mawere amene sanayamwitse!’
For look, the days are coming in which they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'
30 Kenaka, “adzawuza mapiri kuti tigwereni ife; zitunda kuti tiphimbeni ife.
Then they will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us,' and to the hills, 'Cover us.'
31 Chifukwa ngati anthu akuchita izi pa mtengo wauwisi, chidzachitike nʼchiyani ndi wowuma?”
For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?"
32 Amuna ena awiri, onsewo achifwamba, anatengedwanso pamodzi ndi Yesu kukaphedwa.
There were also others, two criminals, led with him to be put to death.
33 Pamene anafika pamalo otchedwa Bade, anamupachika Iye pamodzi ndi achifwambawo, mmodzi kudzanja lake lamanja ndi winayo la ku lamazere.
When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
34 Yesu anati, “Atate, akhululukireni, pakuti sakudziwa chimene akuchita.” Ndipo anagawana malaya ake mochita maere.
And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.
35 Anthu anayimirira nʼkumaonerera, ngakhalenso akuluakulu ankamulalatira Iye. Iwo anati, “Iye anapulumutsa ena; adzipulumutse yekha ngati ndi Khristu wa Mulungu, Wosankhidwayo.”
The people stood watching. The rulers also scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his Chosen One."
36 Asilikalinso anabwera ndi kumunyoza Iye. Iwo anamupatsa vinyo wosasa,
The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,

and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself."
38 Ndipo panalembedwa chikwangwani pamwamba pake chimene chinati: uyu ndi mfumu ya ayuda.
An inscription was also written above him: "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
39 Mmodzi wa achifwambawo, amene anapachikidwa, anamunenera Iye zamwano nati, “Kodi sindiwe Khristu? Dzipulumutse wekha ndi ifenso!”
One of the criminals who hung there insulted him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us."
40 Koma wachifwamba winayo anamudzudzula iye nati, “Suopa Mulungu, iwenso ukulandira chilango chomwechi?
But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
41 Ife tikulangidwa mwachilungamo, pakuti ife tikulandira monga mwa ntchito zathu. Koma munthu uyu sanachimwe kanthu.”
And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
42 Kenaka anati, “Yesu, mundikumbukire ine pamene mulowa mu ufumu wanu.”
And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom."
43 Yesu anayankha kuti, “Zoonadi, ndikukuwuza kuti lero lino udzakhala ndi Ine mʼparadaiso.”
And he said to him, "Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

46 Yesu anafuwula ndi mawu okweza kuti, “Atate, ndikupereka mzimu wanga mʼmanja mwanu.” Atanena zimenezi, anamwalira.
And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Having said this, he breathed his last.
47 Kenturiyo, ataona zimene zinachitikazi, analemekeza Mulungu ndipo anati, “Zoonadi, uyu anali munthu wolungama.”
When the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous man."
48 Anthu onse amene anasonkhana kudzaonerera izi, ataona zinachitikazo, anadziguguda pachifuwa ndipo anachoka.
All the crowds that came together to see this, when they saw the things that were done, returned home beating their breasts.
49 Koma onse amene anamudziwa Iye, kuphatikiza amayi amene anamutsatira kuchokera ku Galileya, anayimirira akuona zinthu izi.
All his acquaintances, and the women who followed with him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
