গীতসংহিতা 90
1 ঈশ্বর মনোনীত ব্যক্তি মোশির প্রার্থনা। হে সদাপ্রভু, বংশপরম্পরায় তুমি আমার বাসস্থান হয়ে এসেছ।
A Prayer by Moses, the Man of God. Lord! a dwelling-place, hast, thou, become to us, From generation to generation:
2 পর্বতগুলির জন্মের আগে এমনকি, তুমি পৃথিবী ও জগৎকে জন্ম দেওয়ার আগে, অনাদিকাল থেকে অনন্তকাল পর্যন্ত, তুমিই ঈশ্বর।
Before, the mountains, were born, Or thou hadst brought forth the earth and the world, Even, from age to age, thou, [wast] GOD.
3 তুমি এই বলে লোকেদের ধুলোয় ফিরিয়ে দিয়ে থাকো, “ধুলোয় ফিরে এসো, হে মরণশীল তোমরা।”
Thou causest man to return unto dust, And hast said—Return, ye sons of Adam!
4 তোমার দৃষ্টিতে এক হাজার বছর একদিনের সমান যা এইমাত্র কেটেছে, অথবা রাতের প্রহরের মতো।
For, a thousand years, in thine eyes, [are], As yesterday, in that it passed away, Or [as] a watch in the night.
5 তুমি মানুষকে মৃত্যুর ঘুমে নিশ্চিহ্ন করো— তারা সকালের নতুন ঘাসের মতো:
Thou hast snatched them away, A sleep, do they become, In the morning, [they are] like grass that shooteth up,
6 সকালে তারা নতুন করে গজিয়ে ওঠে, কিন্তু সন্ধ্যায় তা শুকিয়ে যায় আর বিবর্ণ হয়।
In the morning, it sprouteth and shooteth up, By the evening, it is cut down and withered.
7 তোমার রাগে আমরা ক্ষয়ে যাই আর তোমার ক্রোধে আমরা আতঙ্কিত হই।
For we are consumed in thine anger, And, in thy wrath, are we dismayed;
8 তুমি আমাদের অন্যায়গুলি আমাদের সামনে রেখেছ, আমাদের গোপন পাপগুলি তোমার সান্নিধ্যের আলোতে রেখেছ।
Thou hast set, Our iniquities before thee, Our secret near the luminary of thy face.
9 তোমার ক্রোধে আমাদের সব দিন কেটে যায়; বিলাপে আমরা আমাদের বছরগুলি কাটাই।
For, all our days, decline in thy wrath, —We end our years like a sigh.
10 আমাদের আয়ু হয়তো সত্তর বছর পর্যন্ত হবে, অথবা আশি, যদি আমাদের ক্ষমতা স্থায়ী হয়; তবুও সবচেয়ে ভালো দিনও কষ্টে আর দুঃখে পরিপূর্ণ, কেননা সেগুলি তাড়াতাড়ি অদৃশ্য হয় আর আমরা উড়ে যাই।
The days of our years, have, in them, three score years and ten, And, if, by reason of strength, they have fourscore years, Yet, their boast, is labour and sorrow, For it hath passed quickly, and we have flown away.
11 তোমার রাগের পরাক্রম কে বুঝতে পারে? তোমার ক্রোধ ভয়াবহ যেমন তুমি সম্ভ্রমের যোগ্য।
Who knoweth the strength of thine anger? Even, according to the fear of thee, is thy wrath!
12 আমাদের দিন গুনতে আমাদের শিক্ষা দাও, যেন আমরা প্রজ্ঞার হৃদয় লাভ করি।
How to number our days, so grant us to know, That we may win us a heart that hath wisdom.
13 হে সদাপ্রভু, ফিরে এসো! আর কত কাল দেরি করবে? তোমার সেবাকারীদের প্রতি করুণা করো।
Return, Yahweh, oh how long? And have compassion upon thy servants;
14 সকালে তোমার অবিচল প্রেম দিয়ে আমাদের তৃপ্ত করো, যেন আমরা আনন্দের গান করতে পারি আর জীবনের সব দিন খুশি হতে পারি।
Satisfy us, in the morning, with thy lovingkindness, That we may shout aloud and be glad, Throughout all our days.
15 যতদিন তুমি আমাদের পীড়িত করেছিলে যত বছর আমরা বিপদ দেখেছি, তেমনই আমাদের আনন্দিত করো।
Make us glad, according to, The days thou hast humbled us, The years we have seen misfortune:
16 আমরা, তোমার দাস, যেন তোমার কার্যাবলি আবার দেখতে পাই, যেন আমাদের ছেলেমেয়েরা তোমার মহিমা দেখতে পায়।
Let thy work, appear unto thy servants, And, thy majesty, upon their children;
17 আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুগ্রহ আমাদের উপরে বিরাজ করুক; আর তুমি আমাদের জন্য আমাদের হাতের প্রচেষ্টা স্থায়ী করো, হ্যাঁ! আমাদের হাতের প্রচেষ্টা স্থায়ী করো।
And let the delightfulness of Adonay our God be upon us, —And, the work of our hands, establish thou upon us, Yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
