1 আসফের মস্কীল। হে আমার লোকসকল, আমার উপদেশ শোনো; আমার মুখের বাক্যে কর্ণপাত করো।
An Instructive Psalm. Asaph’s. Give ear, O my people, to mine instruction, Bend your ear to the sayings of my mouth;
2 আমি দৃষ্টান্তের মাধ্যমে আমার মুখ খুলব; আমি পূর্বকালের গুপ্ত শিক্ষার কথা উচ্চারণ করব—
I will open, in a parable, my mouth, I will pour forth enigmas out of antiquity; —
3 যা আমরা শুনেছি আর জেনেছি, সেসব আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা আমাদের বলেছেন।
Which we have heard, and come to know, And, our fathers, have recounted to us;
4 তাঁদের বংশধরদের কাছে আমরা সেসব লুকিয়ে রাখব না; আমরা আগামী প্রজন্মের কাছে সদাপ্রভুর প্রশংসনীয় কাজের কথা বলব, তাঁর পরাক্রম, আর তাঁর আশ্চর্য কাজ।
We will not withhold [them] from their children, To a later generation, recounting the praises of Yahweh, Even his might and his wonders which he wrought;
5 তিনি যাকোবের জন্য বিধি দিয়েছিলেন আর তিনি তাঁর আইন ইস্রায়েলে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলেন, যা তিনি আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন তাঁদের ছেলেমেয়েদের শিক্ষা দেওয়ার জন্য,
When he set up a testimony in Jacob, And, a law, appointed in Israel, —Which he commanded our fathers, That they might make them known to their children;
6 যেন পরবর্তী প্রজন্ম সেগুলি জানতে পারে, এমনকি তারাও পারে যাদের জন্ম হয়নি, এবং তারা যেন পরে নিজের নিজের ছেলেমেয়েদের বলতে পারে।
To the end, A later generation, might come to know, Children who should be born, Who should arise, and recount [them] to their children;
7 তখন তারা ঈশ্বরে আস্থা রাখবে আর তাঁর কার্যাবলি ভুলে যাবে না কিন্তু তাঁর আজ্ঞাসকল পালন করবে।
That they might set, in Elohim, their confidence, —And not forget the doings of El, But, his commandments, might observe;
8 তারা তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মতো হবে না— একগুঁয়ে এবং বিদ্রোহী এক প্রজন্ম, যাদের হৃদয় ঈশ্বরের প্রতি অনুগত ছিল না, যাদের আত্মা তাঁর প্রতি বিশ্বস্ত ছিল না।
And not become, like their fathers, a generation stubborn and rebellious, —A generation that fixed not their heart, Neither was their spirit, faithful with GOD.
9 ইফ্রয়িম বংশের যোদ্ধারা, যদিও ধনুকে সজ্জিত, যুদ্ধের দিনে পিছু ফিরল;
The sons of Ephraim—armed bowmen, Turned in the day of battle;
10 তারা ঈশ্বরের নিয়ম রক্ষা করল না আর তাঁর আইন অনুসারে বাঁচতে অস্বীকার করল।
They kept not the covenant of God, And, in his law, refused to walk;
11 তারা ভুলে গেল যে তিনি কী করেছিলেন, যে আশ্চর্য কাজগুলি তিনি তাদের দেখিয়েছিলেন।
And forgat His doings, And his wonders which he had showed them:
12 মিশর দেশে, আর সোয়নের অঞ্চলে, তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের দৃষ্টিতে তিনি অলৌকিক কাজ করেছিলেন।
In presence of their fathers, wrought he, wondrously, —In the land of Egypt—the field of Zoan:
13 তিনি সমুদ্র ভাগ করেছিলেন আর তাদেরকে মাঝখান দিয়ে এগিয়ে নিয়ে গেলেন; প্রাচীরের মতো তিনি জলকে দাঁড় করালেন।
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through, And reared up the waters like a mound;
14 তিনি দিনে তাদের মেঘ আর রাতে আগুনের আলো দ্বারা পথ দেখালেন।
And led them, by a cloud, in the daytime, And all the night, by a light of fire;
15 তিনি মরুপ্রান্তরে শৈল বিভক্ত করলেন আর সমুদ্রের মতো অফুরন্ত জল দিলেন;
He used to cleave rocks in the desert, And let them drink as out of mighty deeps;
16 শৈল থেকে তিনি জলস্রোত নির্গত করলেন আর নদীর মতো জল প্রবাহিত করলেন।
And he brought forth streams out of the cliff, And caused waters to flow down, like rivers.
17 কিন্তু তারা তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেই গেল, মরুপ্রান্তরে পরাৎপরের প্রতি বিদ্রোহ করল।
But again, once more sinned they against him, Resisting the Most High in a land of drought:
18 তাদের আকাঙ্ক্ষিত খাদ্য দাবি করে তারা ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে ঈশ্বরের পরীক্ষা করল।
They put GOD to the proof in their heart, By asking food to their mind:
19 তারা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলল; তারা বলল, “ঈশ্বর কি সত্যিই মরুপ্রান্তরে মেজ সাজাতে পারেন?
Yea they spake against Elohim, —They said, Can GOD prepare a table in the desert?
20 সত্যিই, তিনি শৈলকে আঘাত করলেন, আর জল বেরিয়ে এল, বিপুল জলস্রোত প্রবাহিত হল, কিন্তু তিনি কি আমাদের রুটি দিতে পারেন? তিনি কি তাঁর লোকেদের খাবার জন্য মাংস দিতে পারেন?”
Lo! he hath smitten a rock, And waters, have gushed out, Yea, torrents, have rushed along, —Food also, can he give? Or provide flesh for his people?
21 যখন সদাপ্রভু তাদের কথা শুনলেন তিনি রাগে অগ্নিশর্মা হলেন; যাকোবের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর আগুন জ্বলে উঠল, আর তাঁর ক্রোধ ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে প্রজ্জ্বলিত হল,
Therefore, Yahweh hearkened, and became wroth, —And, a fire, was kindled against Jacob, Moreover also, anger, mounted against Israel;
22 কেননা তারা ঈশ্বরে বিশ্বাস করেনি এবং তাঁর উদ্ধারে আস্থা রাখেনি।
Because, They believed not in God, Nor trusted in his salvation;
23 তবুও তিনি উপরের আকাশকে আজ্ঞা দিলেন এবং স্বর্গের দরজা খুলে দিলেন;
Though he had commanded the skies above, And, the doors of the heavens, had opened;
24 লোকেদের খাদ্যের জন্য তিনি বৃষ্টির মতো মান্না নিয়ে এলেন, তিনি তাদের স্বর্গের শস্য দিলেন।
And had rained on them manna to eat, And, the corn of the heavens, had given to them:
25 মানুষ দূতদের রুটি খেল; তারা যত খেতে পারে সেইমতো তিনি তাদের খাদ্য পাঠালেন।
The food of the mighty, each one did eat, Nourishment, sent he them to the full;
26 তিনি পূবের বাতাস স্বর্গ থেকে পাঠালেন আর তাঁর পরাক্রমে দক্ষিণের বাতাস প্রবাহিত করলেন।
He let loose an east wind in the heavens, Then guided he, in his might, a south wind;
27 তিনি ধুলোর মতো মাংস বৃষ্টি করলেন, আর সমুদ্রতীরে বালির মতো পাখি দিলেন।
And rained upon them flesh as the dust, And, like the sand of the seas, birds of wing;
28 তাদের শিবিরের মধ্যে, আর তাদের তাঁবুর চারপাশে নামিয়ে আনলেন।
And let them fall in the midst of their camp, —Round about their habitations.
29 তারা গলা পর্যন্ত খাবার খেয়ে তৃপ্ত হল— তাদের আকাঙ্ক্ষা তিনি পূর্ণ করলেন।
So they did eat and were abundantly filled, When, what they longed for, he had brought them: —
30 কিন্তু তারা আকাঙ্ক্ষিত খাদ্য খেয়ে শেষ করার আগেই, এমনকি যখন খাবার তাদের মুখেই ছিল,
They had not turned away from what they had longed for, Yet was their food in their mouth,
31 ঈশ্বরের ক্রোধ তাদের বিরুদ্ধে জ্বলে উঠল; তাদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে শক্তপোক্ত লোকদেরও তিনি হত্যা করলেন, ইস্রায়েলের যুবকদের আঘাত করলেন।
When, the anger of God, mounted against them, And he slew of their vigorous youths, And, the choice young men of Israel, caused he to bow down in death.
32 এসব কিছু দেখেও, তারা পাপ করতেই থাকল; তাঁর আশ্চর্য কাজ সত্ত্বেও, তারা বিশ্বাস করল না।
For all this, sinned they still, And believed not in his wonders;
33 তাই তিনি তাদের আয়ু ব্যর্থতায় আর তাদের বছর আতঙ্কে শেষ করলেন।
So he ended, in a breath, their days, And their years, in a sudden terror!
34 যখনই ঈশ্বর তাদের নাশ করতেন, তারা তাঁর অন্বেষণ করত; তারা অনুতাপ করল আর পুনরায় ঈশ্বরের দিকে ফিরল।
If he slew [of] them, then they sought him, Yea they turned, and did earnestly seek GOD;
35 তারা মনে রাখল যে ঈশ্বর তাদের শৈল, যে পরাৎপর ঈশ্বর তাদের মুক্তিদাতা।
And remembered that, Elohim, was their rock, Yea, EL Most High, their Redeemer:
36 কিন্তু তারা তাদের মুখ দিয়ে তাঁকে তোষামোদ করল, তাদের জিভ দিয়ে তাঁর প্রতি মিথ্যা কথা বলল;
So they spake him fair with their mouth, And, with their tongue, did promise him falsely;
37 তাদের হৃদয় তাঁর প্রতি অনুগত ছিল না, তাঁর নিয়মের প্রতি তারা বিশ্বস্ত ছিল না।
But, their heart, was not fixed with him, Nor were they trusty in his covenant:
38 তবুও তিনি কৃপাময় ছিলেন; তিনি তাদের অপরাধ ক্ষমা করলেন এবং তাদের ধ্বংস করলেন না। অনেকবার তিনি তাঁর রাগ সংযত করলেন তাঁর সম্পূর্ণ ক্রোধ জাগিয়ে তুললেন না।
Yet, he, full of compassion, would put a propitiatory-covering over iniquity, and not destroy, —Yea, many a time, turned he back his anger, And would not stir up all his wrath.
39 তিনি মনে রাখলেন যে তারা মাংসমাত্র, বায়ুর মতো, যা বয়ে গেলে আর ফিরে আসে না।
So then he remembered, That, Flesh, they were, A Wind departing, that returneth not.
40 তারা মরুপ্রান্তরে কতবার তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করল আর পতিত জমিতে তাঁকে শোকাহত করল!
How often they, Resisted him in the desert, Vexed him, in the waste:
41 বারবার তারা ঈশ্বরকে পরীক্ষায় ফেলল; তারা ইস্রায়েলের পবিত্রজনকে উত্ত্যক্ত করল।
Yea they again put GOD to the test, And, to the Holy One of Israel, caused they sorrow:
42 তারা তাঁর পরাক্রম মনে রাখল না— যেদিন তিনি তাদের অত্যাচারীদের হাত থেকে মুক্ত করলেন,
They remembered not his hand—The day, When he ransomed them from the adversary;
43 যেদিন মিশরে তিনি তাঁর চিহ্নগুলি, সোয়নের অঞ্চলে তাঁর আশ্চর্য কাজগুলি দেখালেন।
When he set, in Egypt, his signs, And his wonders, in the plain of Zoan;
44 তিনি তাদের নদীগুলি রক্তে পরিণত করলেন; তাদের জলস্রোত থেকে তারা পান করতে পারল না।
When he turned, into blood, their Nile-streams, And, their own rivers, could they not drink;
45 তিনি ঝাঁকে ঝাঁকে মাছি পাঠালেন যা তাদের গ্রাস করল, আর ব্যাঙদের পাঠালেন যা তাদের বিধ্বস্ত করল।
He sent among them, The gad-fly, and it devoured them, And the frog, and it despoiled them;
46 তিনি তাদের শস্য ফড়িংদের দিলেন, তাদের ফসল পঙ্গপালদের দিলেন।
When he gave to the corn-locust their produce, And their toil, to the swarming locust;
47 তিনি তাদের দ্রাক্ষালতা শিলা দিয়ে নষ্ট করলেন আর তাদের ডুমুর গাছ শিলাবৃষ্টি দিয়ে ধ্বংস করলেন।
He killed, with hail, their vine, And their sycomores, with frost:
48 তিনি তাদের গবাদি পশুদের শিলার কাছে, আর তাদের গৃহপালিত পশুপালকে বজ্রবিদ্যুতের কাছে সমর্পণ করলেন।
When he gave up, to hail-storms, their beasts, And their cattle, to pestilent fevers;
49 তিনি তাদের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর প্রচণ্ড রাগ পাঠালেন, তাঁর ক্রোধ, উন্মাদনা এবং শত্রুতা— ধ্বংসকারী দূতের একদল।
He sent among them the heat of his anger, Wrath and indignation and distress, —A mission of messengers of misfortune:
50 তিনি তাঁর ক্রোধ তাদের বিরুদ্ধে নিক্ষেপ করলেন; মৃত্যু থেকে তিনি তাদের বাঁচালেন না কিন্তু মহামারির হাতে তুলে দিলেন।
He leveled a path for his anger, Withheld not, from death, their soul, But, their life—to the pestilence, he delivered:
51 তিনি মিশরের সব প্রথমজাতকে আঘাত করলেন, হামের তাঁবুতে পুরুষত্বের প্রথম ফলকে।
So he smote, Every first-born in Egypt, The beginning of their strength, in the tents of Ham;
52 কিন্তু তিনি মেষপালের মতো তাঁর প্রজাদের বের করে আনলেন; মরুপ্রান্তরে মেষের মতো তিনি তাদের পরিচালনা করলেন।
And he set forth, like sheep, his people, And guided them, like a flock in the desert;
53 তিনি তাদের সুরক্ষিতভাবে পথ দেখালেন, তাই তারা ভীত হল না; কিন্তু সমুদ্র তাদের শত্রুদের ঘিরে ফেলল।
Yea he led them securely, and they dreaded not, And, their enemies, the sea did cover.
54 আর তিনি তাঁর নিজের পবিত্র সীমায় নিয়ে এলেন, পাহাড়ের সেই দেশে যেখানে তাঁর ডান হাত তাদের নিয়ে গিয়েছিল।
Then brought he them within his own holy bounds, The mountain-range, which his right hand made his own:
55 তিনি তাদের সামনে সমস্ত জাতিকে তাড়িয়ে দিলেন আর তাদের জমি ইস্রায়েলীদের মধ্যে অধিকারস্বরূপ ভাগ করে দিলেন; ইস্রায়েলের গোষ্ঠীদের তাদের গৃহে বসবাস করতে দিলেন।
So he drave out, before them, [whole] nations, And allotted them, by line, an inheritance, And caused to dwell, in their own homes, the tribes of Israel.
56 কিন্তু তারা ঈশ্বরকে পরীক্ষা করেই চলল আর পরাৎপরের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করল; তাঁর বিধিবিধান তারা পালন করল না।
But they tested and resisted God Most High, And, his testimonies, did not observe;
57 তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মতো তারা ছিল বিশ্বাসঘাতক আর বিশ্বাসহীন, ত্রুটিযুক্ত ধনুকের মতো অনির্ভরযোগ্য।
But drew back and dealt treacherously, like their fathers, They turned aside, like deceitful bowmen;
58 তাদের উঁচু পীঠস্থানগুলি দিয়ে তারা তাঁকে রাগিয়ে তুলল; তাদের প্রতিমা দিয়ে তাঁর ঈর্ষা জাগ্রত করল।
And provoked him to anger with their high places, And, with their images, used to move him to jealousy.
59 ঈশ্বর সেসব শুনে অগ্নিশর্মা হলেন; তিনি ইস্রায়েলকে সম্পূর্ণ পরিত্যাগ করলেন।
God heard and was wroth, And greatly abhorred Israel;
60 তিনি শীলোতে সমাগম তাঁবু পরিত্যাগ করলেন, সেই তাঁবু যা তিনি মানুষদের মধ্যে স্থাপন করেছিলেন।
So he gave up the habitation of Shiloh, The tent he had set up among Men;
61 তিনি তাঁর পরাক্রমের সিন্দুক বন্দিদশায় পাঠালেন, তাঁর শত্রুদের হাতে তাঁর প্রভা।
Yea he gave up, into captivity, his strength, And his beauty into the hand of an adversary;
62 তিনি তাঁর প্রজাদের তরোয়ালের কোপে তুলে দিলেন; তিনি তাঁর অধিকারের প্রতি ক্রুদ্ধ হলেন।
And delivered up, to the sword, his people, And, with his own inheritance, was he wroth;
63 আগুন তাদের যুবকদের গ্রাস করল, এবং তাদের যুবতীদের বিয়েতে কোনো গান হল না;
His young men, were devoured by fire, And, his virgins, were not praised in song;
64 তাদের যাজকদের তরোয়ালে নাশ করা হোলো আর তাদের বিধবারা কাঁদতে পারল না।
His priests, by the sword, did fall, And, his widows, were not able to bewail.
65 তারপর সদাপ্রভু, ঘুম থেকে জেগে ওঠার মতো, জেগে উঠলেন, যেমন এক যোদ্ধা সুরার অসাড়তা থেকে জেগে ওঠে।
Then awoke, as one that had slept, Adonay, As a warrior exulting with wine!
66 তিনি তাঁর শত্রুদের প্রহার করলেন; তাদের চিরস্থায়ী লজ্জার পাত্র করলেন।
So he smote his adversaries in the rear, Reproach age-abiding, laid he upon them.
67 তারপর তিনি যোষেফের তাঁবুগুলি পরিত্যাগ করলেন, তিনি ইফ্রয়িম গোষ্ঠীকে মনোনীত করলেন না;
Howbeit he rejected the tent of Joseph, And, the tribe of Ephraim, did not choose:
68 কিন্তু যিহূদার গোষ্ঠীকে মনোনীত করলেন, সিয়োন পর্বত, যা তিনি ভালোবাসতেন।
But made choice of the tribe of Judah, The mountain of Zion, which he loved;
69 উচ্চ শিখরের মতো তাঁর পবিত্রস্থান তিনি নির্মাণ করলেন, জগতের মতো যা তিনি চিরকালের জন্য স্থাপন করেছেন।
And built, like the heights, his sanctuary, Like the earth, he founded it to times age-abiding.
70 তিনি তাঁর দাস দাউদকে মনোনীত করলেন আর তাকে মেষের খোঁয়াড় থেকে ডেকে নিলেন;
And made choice of David his servant, And took him from among the folds of the sheep:
71 মেষের পরিচর্যা থেকে তিনি তাকে নিয়ে এলেন আর যাকোব গোষ্ঠীর লোকেদের এবং আপন অধিকার ইস্রায়েলের উপর তাকে পালক করলেন।
From after the sucking ewes, he brought him in, —To be shepherd to Jacob his people, And to Israel, his inheritance.
72 এবং হৃদয়ের সততায় দাউদ পালকরূপে তাদের যত্ন নিলেন; এবং দক্ষ হাতের সাহায্যে তাদের পরিচালনা করলেন।
So he did shepherd them, according to the singleness of his heart, And, with the discernment of his hands, used he to guide them.
