Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that were from the days of old; when her people fell into the hand of the adversary, and no one helped her. The adversaries saw her. They mocked at her desolations.
قَدْ ذَكَرَتْ أُورُشَلِيمُ فِي أَيَّامِ مَذَلَّتِهَا وَتَطَوُّحِهَا كُلَّ مُشْتَهَيَاتِهَا ٱلَّتِي كَانَتْ فِي أَيَّامِ ٱلْقِدَمِ. عِنْدَ سُقُوطِ شَعْبِهَا بِيَدِ ٱلْعَدُوِّ وَلَيْسَ مَنْ يُسَاعِدُهَا. رَأَتْهَا ٱلْأَعْدَاءُ. ضَحِكُوا عَلَى هَلَاكِهَا.
تَذَكَّرَتْ أُورُشَلِيمُ فِي أَيَّامِ شَقَائِهَا وَمِحْنَتِهَا جَمِيعَ مَا كَانَتْ تَتَمَتَّعُ بِهِ مِنْ مُشْتَهَيَاتٍ فِي حِقَبِهَا الْغَابِرَةِ. عِنْدَمَا وَقَعَ شَعْبُهَا فِي قَبْضَةِ الْعَدُوِّ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهَا مُسْعِفٌ، رَآهَا الْعَدُوُّ صَرِيعَةً وَسَخِرَ لِهَلاكِهَا.
