David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody and provided them with sustenance, but did not go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.

وَعِنْدَمَا اسْتَقَرَّ الْمَلِكُ فِي مَقَرِّهِ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ حَجَزَ الْمَحْظِيَّاتِ الْعَشْرَ اللَّوَاتِي تَرَكَهُنَّ لِحِفْظِ الْقَصْرِ وَكَانَ يَعُولُهُنَّ، وَلَكِنَّهُ امْتَنَعَ عَنْ مُعَاشَرَتِهِنَّ، وَبَقِينَ كَالأَرَامِلِ مَحْجُوزَاتٍ حَتَّى يَوْمِ وَفَاتِهِنَّ.

Về đến cung Giê-ru-sa-lem, vua bắt mười cung phi đã ở lại giữ cung trước kia, cầm giữ tại một nơi, cung cấp vật thực cần thiết, nhưng không đi lại với họ nữa. Vậy họ bị giam giữ như ở góa cho đến ngày chết.
