এইসব কথা শুনে আহাব নিজের পোশাক ছিঁড়ে, চট গায়ে দিয়ে উপবাস করলেন। তিনি চটের বিছানায় শুয়েছিলেন ও নম্রভাবে চলাফেরা করতে শুরু করলেন।

જયારે આહાબે એ વચનો સાંભળ્યાં ત્યારે તેણે પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો ફાડીને પોતાના શરીર પર શોકનાં વસ્ત્રો ધારણ કર્યા. અને ઉપવાસ કર્યો અને ખૂબ જ ઉદાસ બનીને શોકનાં વસ્ત્રો ઓઢીને તે તેમાં સૂઈ ગયો.

एलिय्याह के ये वचन सुनकर अहाब ने अपने वस्त्र फाड़े, और अपनी देह पर टाट लपेटकर उपवास करने और टाट ही ओढ़े पड़ा रहने लगा, और दबे पाँवों चलने लगा।
