Zephaniah 1
1 Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí ó tọ Sefaniah ọmọ Kuṣi, ọmọ Gedaliah, ọmọ Amariah, ọmọ Hesekiah, ní ìgbà Josiah ọmọ Amoni ọba Juda.
The word of the Lord which came to Sophonias the son of Chusi, the son of Godolias, the son of Amorias, the son of Ezekias, in the days of Josias son of Amon, king of Juda.
2 “Èmi yóò mú gbogbo nǹkan kúrò lórí ilẹ̀ náà pátápátá,” ni Olúwa wí.
Let there be an utter cutting off from the face of the land, says the Lord.
3 “Èmi yóò mú ènìyàn àti ẹranko kúrò; èmi yóò mú àwọn ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run kúrò, àti ẹja inú Òkun, àti ohun ìdìgbòlù pẹ̀lú àwọn ènìyàn búburú; èmi yóò ké ènìyàn kúrò lórí ilẹ̀ ayé,” ni Olúwa wí.
Let man and cattle be cut off; let the birds of the air and the fishes of the sea be cut off; and the ungodly shall fail, and I will take away the transgressors from the face of the land, says the Lord.
4 “Èmi yóò na ọwọ́ mi sórí Juda àti sórí gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tí ń gbé ní Jerusalẹmu. Èmi yóò sì ké kúrò níhìn-ín yìí ìyókù àwọn Baali, àti orúkọ àwọn abọ̀rìṣà pẹ̀lú àwọn àlùfáà abọ̀rìṣà,
And I will stretch out mine hand upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will remove the names of Baal out of this place, and the names of the priests;
5 àti àwọn tí ń foríbalẹ̀ lórí òrùlé, àwọn tí ń sin ogun ọ̀run, àwọn tó ń foríbalẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì ń fi Olúwa búra, tí wọ́n sì ń fi Moleki búra.
and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;
6 Àwọn tí ó yípadà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa; àti àwọn tí kò tí wá Olúwa, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọn kò sì béèrè rẹ̀.”
and them that turn aside from the Lord, and them that seek not the Lord, and them that cleave not to the Lord.
7 Ẹ dákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́ níwájú Olúwa Olódùmarè, nítorí tí ọjọ́ Olúwa kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀. Olúwa ti pèsè ẹbọ kan sílẹ̀, ó sì ti ya àwọn alápèjẹ rẹ̀ sí mímọ́.
Fear you before the Lord God; for the day of the Lord is near; for the Lord has prepared his sacrifice, and has sanctified his guests.
8 “Ní ọjọ́ ẹbọ Olúwa, Èmi yóò bẹ àwọn olórí wò, àti àwọn ọmọ ọba ọkùnrin, pẹ̀lú gbogbo àwọn tí ó wọ àjèjì aṣọ.
And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will take vengeance on the princes, and on the king's house, and upon all that wear strange apparel.
9 Ní ọjọ́ náà, èmi yóò fi ìyà jẹ gbogbo àwọn tí ó yẹra láti rìn lórí ìloro ẹnu-ọ̀nà, tí wọ́n sì kún tẹmpili àwọn ọlọ́run wọn pẹ̀lú ìwà ipá àti ẹ̀tàn.
And I will openly take vengeance on the porches in that day, [on the men] that fill the house of the Lord their God with ungodliness and deceit.
10 “Ní ọjọ́ náà,” ni Olúwa wí, “Ohùn ẹkún yóò wà láti ìhà ibodè ẹja, híhu láti ìhà kejì wá àti ariwo ńlá láti òkè kékeré wá.
And there shall be in that day, says the Lord, the sound of a cry from the gate of men slaying, and a howling from the second [gate], and a great crashing from the hills.
11 Ẹ hu, ẹ̀yin tí ń gbé ní agbègbè ọjà, gbogbo àwọn oníṣòwò rẹ̀ ni a ó mú kúrò, gbogbo àwọn ẹni tí ó ń ra fàdákà ni a ó sì parun.
Lament, you that inhabit the [city] that has been broken down, for all the people has become like Chanaan; and all that were exalted by silver have been utterly destroyed.
12 Ní àkókò wọ̀n-ọn-nì, èmi yóò wá Jerusalẹmu kiri pẹ̀lú fìtílà, èmi ó sì fi ìyà jẹ àwọn tí kò ní ìtẹ́lọ́rùn, tí wọn sì dàbí àwọn ènìyàn tí ó sinmi sínú gẹ̀dẹ̀gẹ́dẹ̀ wọn, àwọn tí wọn sì ń wí ní ọkàn wọn pé, ‘Olúwa kì yóò ṣe nǹkan kan tí ó jẹ́ rere tàbí tí ó jẹ́ búburú.’
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] I will search Jerusalem with a candle, and will take vengeance on the men that despise the things committed to them; but they say in their hearts, The Lord will not do any good, neither will he do any evil.
13 Nítorí náà, ọrọ̀ wọn yóò di ìkógun, àti ilé wọn yóò sì run. Àwọn yóò sì kọ́ ilé pẹ̀lú, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kì yóò gbé nínú ilé náà, wọn yóò gbin ọgbà àjàrà, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kì yóò mu ọtí wáìnì láti inú rẹ̀.”
And their power shall be for a spoil, and their houses for utter desolation; and they shall build houses, but shall not dwell in them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine of them.
14 “Ọjọ́ ńlá Olúwa kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀, ó kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀ ó sì ń yára bọ̀ kánkán. Ẹ tẹ́tí sílẹ̀, ohùn ẹkún àwọn alágbára; ní ọjọ́ Olúwa yóò korò púpọ̀,
For the great day of the Lord [is] near, [it is] near, and very speedy; the sound of the day of the Lord is made bitter and harsh.
15 ọjọ́ náà yóò jẹ́ ọjọ́ ìbínú, ọjọ́ ìrora àti ìpọ́njú, ọjọ́ òfò àti idà ọjọ́ ìdahoro ọjọ́ òkùnkùn àti ìtẹ̀ba, ọjọ́ kurukuru àti òkùnkùn biribiri,
A mighty day of wrath is that day, a day of affliction and distress, a day of desolation and destruction, a day of gloominess and darkness, a day of cloud and vapor,
16 ọjọ́ ìpè àti ìpè ogun sí àwọn ìlú olódi àti sí àwọn ilé ìṣọ́ gíga.
a day of the trumpet and cry against the strong cities, and against the high towers.
17 “Èmi yóò sì mú ìpọ́njú wá sórí ènìyàn, wọn yóò sì máa rìn gẹ́gẹ́ bí afọ́jú, nítorí àwọn ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí Olúwa. Ẹ̀jẹ̀ wọn ni a ó sì tú jáde bí eruku àti ẹran-ara wọn bí ìgbẹ́.
And I will greatly afflict the men, and they shall walk as blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord; therefore he shall pour out their blood as dust, and their flesh as dung.
18 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni fàdákà tàbí wúrà wọn kì yóò sì le gbà wọ́n là ní ọjọ́ ìbínú Olúwa.” Ṣùgbọ́n gbogbo ayé ni a ó fi iná ìjowú rẹ̀ parun, nítorí òun yóò fi ìyára fi òpin sí gbogbo àwọn tí ń gbé ní ilẹ̀ ayé.
And their silver and their gold shall in nowise be able to rescue them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealously; for he will bring a speedy destruction on all them that inhabit the land.
