< Zechariah 1 >

1 Ní oṣù kẹjọ ọdún kejì ọba Dariusi, ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ wòlíì Sekariah ọmọ Berekiah, ọmọ Iddo pé:
In the eighth month in the second year of Darius, this message of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo:
2 “Olúwa ti bínú sí àwọn baba ńlá yín.
The Lord was furious with your ancestors.
3 Nítorí náà sọ fún àwọn ènìyàn. Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí: ‘Ẹ padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ mi,’ báyìí ní Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, ‘èmi náà yóò sì padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ yín,’ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
So tell the people this message of the Lord of hosts: “Return to me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you” says the Lord of hosts.
4 Ẹ má dàbí àwọn baba yín, àwọn tí àwọn wòlíì ìṣáájú ti ké sí wí pé, báyìí ní Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, ‘Ẹ yípadà nísinsin yìí kúrò ní ọ̀nà búburú yín,’ àti kúrò nínú ìwà búburú yín; ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò gbọ́, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọn kò fetí sí ti èmi, ni Olúwa wí.
“Do not be like your ancestors to whom the former prophets cried, ‘The Lord of hosts says to turn now from your evil ways, and from your evil deeds’. They did not heed nor listen to me,” says the Lord.
5 Àwọn baba yín, níbo ni wọ́n wà? Àti àwọn wòlíì, wọ́n ha wà títí ayé?
“Your ancestors, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
6 Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ mi àti ìlànà mi, ti mo pa ní àṣẹ fún àwọn ìránṣẹ́ mi wòlíì, kò ha tún bá àwọn baba yín? “Wọ́n sì padà wọ́n wí pé, ‘Gẹ́gẹ́ bí Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun ti rò láti ṣe sí wa, gẹ́gẹ́ bi ọ̀nà wa, àti gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìṣe wa, bẹ́ẹ̀ ní o ti ṣe sí wa.’”
But did not my words and my statutes with which I charged my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? And they repented and said, ‘Just as the Lord of hosts planned to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our deeds, so he has dealt with us.’”
7 Ní ọjọ́ kẹrìnlélógún oṣù kọkànlá, tí ó jẹ́, oṣù Sebati, ní ọdún kejì Dariusi, ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ wòlíì Sekariah, ọmọ Berekiah ọmọ Iddo wá, pé.
In the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, this message of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo:
8 Mo rí ìran kan ni òru, si wò ó, ọkùnrin kan ń gun ẹṣin pupa kan, òun sì dúró láàrín àwọn igi maritili tí ó wà ní ibi òòji; lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ sì ni ẹṣin pupa, adíkálà, àti funfun gbé wà.
I saw in the night a man on a red horse, among the myrtle trees that were in the valley-bottom. Behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.
9 Nígbà náà ni mo wí pé, “Kí ni wọ̀nyí olúwa mi?” Angẹli tí ń ba mi sọ̀rọ̀ sì wí fún mi pé, “Èmi ó fi ohun tí àwọn wọ̀nyí jẹ́ hàn ọ́.”
Then said I, “My Lord, what are these?” And the messenger who was talking with me said, “I will show you what they are.”
10 Ọkùnrin tí ó dúró láàrín àwọn igi maritili sì dáhùn ó sì wí pé, “Wọ̀nyí ní àwọn tí Olúwa ti rán láti máa rìn sókè sódò ni ayé.”
And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, “They are those whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.”
11 Wọ́n si dá angẹli Olúwa tí ó dúró láàrín àwọn igi maritili náà lóhùn pé, “Àwa ti rìn sókè sódò já ayé, àwa sí ti rí i pé gbogbo ayé wà ní ìsinmi àti àlàáfíà.”
And the riders answered the messenger of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, “We have gone up and down through the world and behold, all the earth is still and at peace.”
12 Nígbà náà ni angẹli Olúwa náà dáhùn ó sì wí pé, “Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun, yóò ti pẹ́ tó tí ìwọ kì yóò fi ṣàánú fún Jerusalẹmu, àti fún àwọn ìlú ńlá Juda, ti ìwọ ti bínú sí ni àádọ́rin ọdún wọ̀nyí?”
Then the messenger of the Lord said, “Lord of hosts, how long will you have no pity for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah with which you have been angry for seventy years?”
13 Olúwa sì fi ọ̀rọ̀ rere àti ọ̀rọ̀ ìtùnú dá angẹli tí ń bá mi sọ̀rọ̀ lóhùn.
And the Lord answered the messenger who was talking with me with kind and comforting words.
14 Angẹli ti ń bá mi sọ̀rọ̀ sì wí fún mi pé, “Ìwọ kígbe wí pé, báyìí ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, ‘Èmi ń fi ìjowú ńlá jowú fún Jerusalẹmu àti fún Sioni.
So the messenger who was talking with me said to me, “Proclaim now that the Lord of hosts says: I am deeply concerned for Jerusalem.
15 Èmi sì bínú púpọ̀púpọ̀ si àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó rò wí pé òun ní ààbò. Nítorí nígbà tí mo bínú díẹ̀, wọ́n ran ìparun lọ́wọ́ láti tẹ̀síwájú.’
But I am deeply angry with the arrogant, complacent nations. I was only a little angry with Israel but they made the suffering worse.
16 “Nítorí náà, báyìí ni Olúwa wí: ‘Mo padà tọ Jerusalẹmu wá pẹ̀lú àánú; ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, a ó kọ́ ilé mi sínú rẹ̀, a o sí ta okùn ìwọ̀n kan jáde sórí Jerusalẹmu.’
Therefore, says the Lord, I am turning to show mercy to Jerusalem. My temple will be rebuilt in it, says the Lord of hosts, and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.
17 “Máa ké síbẹ̀ pé, báyìí ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, ‘A o máa fi ìre kún ìlú ńlá mi síbẹ̀; Olúwa yóò sì máa tu Sioni nínú síbẹ̀, yóò sì yan Jerusalẹmu síbẹ̀.’”
Proclaim again: Thus says the Lord of hosts: My cities will again overflow with prosperity and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.”
18 Mo si gbé ojú sókè, mo sì rí, sì kíyèsi i, ìwo mẹ́rin.
Now I looked up and saw four horns.
19 Mo sì sọ fún angẹli tí ó ń bá mi sọ̀rọ̀ pé, “Kí ni nǹkan wọ̀nyí?” Ó si dà mí lóhùn pé, “Àwọn ìwo wọ̀nyí ni ó tí tú Juda, Israẹli, àti Jerusalẹmu ká.”
I said to the messenger who was talking with me, “What are these?” He answered, “These are the horns which scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.”
20 Olúwa sì fi alágbẹ̀dẹ mẹ́rin kan hàn mí.
Then the Lord showed me four smiths.
21 Nígbà náà ni mo wí pé, “Kí ni àwọn wọ̀nyí wá ṣe?” O sì sọ wí pé, “Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ìwo tí ó ti tú Juda ká, tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ẹnikẹ́ni kò fi gbé orí rẹ̀ sókè? Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn wọ̀nyí wá láti dẹ́rùbà wọ́n, láti lé ìwo àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè jáde, ti wọ́n gbé ìwo wọn sórí ilẹ̀ Juda láti tú ènìyàn rẹ̀ ká.”
I said, “What are these coming to do?” He answered, “The horns scattered Judah, so that no one dared lift their head. But the smiths have come to terrify them, to crush the horns of the nations which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter its people.”
