< Ruth 4 >

1 Nígbà náà ni Boasi gòkè lọ sí ẹnu ibodè ìlú, ó sì jókòó síbẹ̀. Nígbà tí ìbátan tí ó súnmọ́ Elimeleki jùlọ, arákùnrin tí Boasi ti sọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ ń kọjá, Boasi pè é wí pé, “Máa bọ̀ wá síbí ìwọ ọ̀rẹ́ mi, kí o sì jókòó.” Ó sì lọ jókòó.
Then Boaz went up to the gate, and he sat there. And when he had seen the kinsman passing by, whom he had previously discussed, he spoke to him, calling him by his name, “Pause for a little while, and sit down here.” He turned aside and sat down.
2 Boasi sì pe mẹ́wàá nínú àwọn àgbàgbà ìlú, wí pé ki wọn jókòó, wọn sí ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀,
But Boaz, calling aside ten men among the elders of the city, said to them, “Sit down here.”
3 ó sì sọ fún ìbátan rẹ̀ náà pé, “Arábìnrin Naomi tí ó dé láti ilẹ̀ Moabu fẹ́ ta ilẹ̀, èyí tí ó ṣe ti arákùnrin Elimeleki wa.
They settled down, and he spoke to the kinsman, “Naomi, who has returned from the region of the Moabites, is selling part of a field of our brother Elimelech.
4 Mó sì rò wí pé ó yẹ kí n mú ọ̀rọ̀ náà wá sí etí ìgbọ́ rẹ, wí pé kí o rà á ní iwájú gbogbo àwọn tí ó jókòó sí ibi yìí. Bí ìwọ yóò bá rà á padà rà á. Ṣùgbọ́n bí ìwọ kò bá ní rà á padà, sọ fún mi, kí èmi ó le è mọ̀. Nítorí pé kò sí ẹlòmíràn tí ó ní ẹ̀tọ́ láti rà á ju ìwọ lọ, èmi sì ni ẹni tí ó tún kàn lẹ́yìn rẹ̀.” Ọkùnrin náà sì sọ wí pé, “Èmi yóò rà á padà.”
I wanted you to hear this, and to tell you in front of everyone sitting here, including the eldest of my people. If you will take possession of it by the right of kinship, buy it and possess it. But if it displeases you, you should reveal this to me, so that I will know what I have to do. For there is no near kinsman besides you, who is before me, and I am after you.” But he answered, “I will buy the field.”
5 Nígbà náà ni Boasi sọ wí pé, “Bí ìwọ bá ti ra ilẹ̀ náà lọ́wọ́ Naomi àti lọ́wọ́ Rutu ará Moabu, ìwọ gbọdọ̀ fẹ́ opó ọkùnrin náà, kí orúkọ ọkùnrin tí ó kú náà má ba à parẹ́ pẹ̀lú ohun ìní rẹ̀ àti kí o le è bímọ ní orúkọ rẹ̀.”
And Boaz said to him, “When buying the field, you are likewise obliged to accept the hand of the woman Ruth, the Moabite, who was the wife of the deceased, so that you may raise up the name of your near kinsman through his posterity.”
6 Nígbà náà ni ọkùnrin náà dáhùn sí èyí pé, “Nípa ti èyí, èmi kò le è rà á padà, nítorí pé, ọmọ rẹ̀, ọkùnrin yóò wá jẹ́ ajogún àwọn ohun ìní mi pẹ̀lú. Rà á fún ara rẹ, èmi kò le ṣe é.”
He answered, “I yield my right of kinship, for I am obliged not to cut off the posterity of my own family. You may make use of my privilege, which I freely declare I will forego.”
7 Ní ayé ìgbàanì, kí a tó le sọ wí pé ohun ìràpadà tàbí pàṣípàrọ̀ ohun ìní fi ìdí múlẹ̀ ní ilẹ̀ Israẹli, ẹnìkan ni láti yọ bàtà rẹ̀ kúrò ní ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ kí ó sì fi fún ẹnìkejì, ó jẹ́ òfin fún ẹni tí ó fẹ́ rà á. Nípa ṣíṣe èyí, àwọn ará Israẹli fihàn wí pé ọ̀rọ̀ náà ti fìdímúlẹ̀.
Yet it was the custom between kinsmen in this former time in Israel, that if at any time one yielded his right to another, so as to confirm his permission, the man took off his shoe and gave it to his neighbor. This was a testimony of concession in Israel.
8 Nítorí náà, nígbà tí ọkùnrin náà sọ fún Boasi wí pé, “Ìwọ rà á fúnra rẹ̀,” ó yọ bàtà rẹ̀ kúrò ní ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀.
And so Boaz said to his kinsman, “Take off your shoe.” And immediately he released it from his foot.
9 Nígbà náà ni Boasi wí fún àwọn àgbàgbà àti àwọn mìíràn tí ó wà ní ibẹ̀ pé, “Gbogbo yín jẹ́ ẹlẹ́rìí mi ní òní wí pé mo ti ra ohun gbogbo tí í ṣe ti Elimeleki àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ ọkùnrin méjèèjì: Maloni àti Kilioni lọ́wọ́ Naomi.
And he said to the eldest and to all the people, “You are witnesses this day, that I have taken possession of all that belonged to Elimelech and Chilion and Mahlon, and was bequeathed to Naomi.
10 Ní àfikún, mo ra Rutu ará Moabu opó Maloni padà láti di aya mi. Èyí tí yóò mú kí orúkọ ọkùnrin òkú náà wà pẹ̀lú ohun ìní rẹ̀, kí ìran rẹ̀ má ba à lè parẹ́ láàrín àwọn ẹbí rẹ̀ àti ìlú rẹ̀. Ẹ̀yin ni ẹlẹ́rìí ní òní.”
And Ruth, the Moabite, the wife of Mahlon, I have taken in marriage so as to raise up the name of the deceased in his posterity, so that his name will not be cut off from among his family and his brethren and his people. You, I say, are witnesses of this thing.”
11 Nígbà náà ni àwọn àgbàgbà àti àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wà ní ibẹ̀ dáhùn wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, àwa ni ẹlẹ́rìí, kí Olúwa jẹ́ kí obìnrin tí ó ń bọ̀ wá sí inú ilẹ̀ rẹ dàbí Rakeli àti Lea láti ara àwọn ẹni tí gbogbo ìdílé Israẹli ti jáde wá. Kí ìwọ sì di ọlọ́rọ̀ ní ìran Efrata àti olókìkí ní ìlú Bẹtilẹhẹmu.
All the people who were at the gate, along with the eldest, answered, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make this woman, who enters into your house, like Rachel, and Leah, who built up the house of Israel, so that she may be an example of virtue in Ephrathah, and so that her name may be honored in Bethlehem.
12 Kí Olúwa fún ọ ní ọmọ tí yóò mú ìdílé rẹ dàbí ti Peresi ọmọkùnrin tí Tamari bí fún Juda láti ipasẹ̀ ọ̀dọ́mọbìnrin yìí.”
And may your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the offspring which the Lord will give to you from this young woman.”
13 Báyìí ni Boasi ṣe mú Rutu, tí ó sì di aya rẹ̀. Nígbà náà ni ó wọlé tọ aya rẹ̀, Olúwa sì mú kí ó lóyún, ó sì bí ọmọ ọkùnrin kan.
And so Boaz took Ruth, and received her as his wife, and he went in to her, and the Lord granted to her to conceive and bear a son.
14 Àwọn obìnrin sì wí fún Naomi pé, “Ìyìn ni fún Olúwa tí kò fi ọ sílẹ̀ ní òní yìí láìní ìbátan, Olùràpadà. Kí ọmọ náà di olókìkí ní Israẹli.
And the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not permitted your family to be without a successor, and may his name be called upon in Israel.
15 Yóò tún ayé rẹ ṣe, yóò sì dáàbò bò ọ́ ní ọjọ́ ogbó rẹ. Nítorí pé ìyàwó ọmọ rẹ, èyí tí ó sàn fún ọ ju ọmọkùnrin méje lọ, tí ó sì fẹ́ràn rẹ ni ó bí ọmọ yìí fún.”
And now you may have someone to comfort your soul and to care for you in old age, for he is born of your daughter-in-law, who loves you, and this is much better for you, than if you had seven sons.”
16 Naomi sì gbé ọmọ náà lé orí ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀, ó sì ń tọ́jú rẹ̀.
And taking up the boy, Naomi placed him on her bosom, and she took on the duties of carrying him and nursing him.
17 Àwọn obìnrin àdúgbò sì wí pé, “A bí ọmọkùnrin kan fún Naomi.” Wọ́n sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Obedi. Òun sì ni baba Jese tí í ṣe baba Dafidi.
And the women of the near future were congratulating her and saying, “There was a son born to Naomi. They called his name Obed. Here is the father of Jesse, the father of David.”
18 Èyí ni ìran Peresi: Peresi ni baba Hesroni,
These are the generations of Perez: Perez conceived Hezron,
19 Hesroni ni baba Ramu, Ramu ni baba Amminadabu
Hezron conceived Aram, Aram conceived Amminadab,
20 Amminadabu ni baba Nahiṣoni, Nahiṣoni ni baba Salmoni,
Amminadab conceived Nahshon, Nahshon conceived Salmon,
21 Salmoni ni baba Boasi, Boasi ni baba Obedi,
Salmon conceived Boaz, Boaz conceived Obed,
22 Obedi ní baba Jese, Jese ni baba Dafidi.
Obed conceived Jesse, Jesse conceived David.
