< Romans 1 >
1 Paulu, ìránṣẹ́ Jesu Kristi, ẹni tí a ti pè láti jẹ́ aposteli, tí a sì ti yà sọ́tọ̀ láti wàásù ìyìnrere Ọlọ́run,
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called as an Apostle, separated for the Gospel of God,
2 ìyìnrere tí ó ti ṣe ìlérí tẹ́lẹ̀ rí láti ẹnu àwọn wòlíì rẹ̀ nínú Ìwé Mímọ́.
which he had promised beforehand, through his Prophets, in the Holy Scriptures,
3 Ní ti Ọmọ rẹ̀, ẹni tí a bí láti inú irú-ọmọ Dafidi nípa ti ara,
about his Son, who was made for him from the offspring of David according to the flesh,
4 ẹni tí a pinnu rẹ̀ láti jẹ́ Ọmọ Ọlọ́run nínú agbára gẹ́gẹ́ bí Ẹ̀mí ìwà mímọ́, nípa àjíǹde kúrò nínú òkú, àní Jesu Kristi Olúwa wa.
the Son of God, who was predestined in virtue according to the Spirit of sanctification from the resurrection of the dead, our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 Láti ọ̀dọ̀ ẹni tí àwa rí oore-ọ̀fẹ́ àti jíjẹ́ aposteli gbà, fún ìgbọ́ràn ìgbàgbọ́ láàrín gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè, nítorí orúkọ rẹ̀.
through whom we have received grace and Apostleship, for the sake of his name, for the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles,
6 Ẹ̀yin pẹ̀lú si wa lára àwọn tí a pè sọ́dọ̀ Jesu Kristi.
from whom you also have been called by Jesus Christ:
7 Sí gbogbo àwọn àyànfẹ́ Ọlọ́run tí ó wà ní Romu tí a ti pè láti jẹ́ ènìyàn mímọ́: Oore-ọ̀fẹ́ àti àlàáfíà fún yín láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run Baba wa àti láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi.
To all who are at Rome, the beloved of God, called as saints. Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 Ní àkọ́kọ́, mo dúpẹ́ lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run nípasẹ̀ Jesu Kristi fún gbogbo yín, nítorí a ń ròyìn ìgbàgbọ́ yin káàkiri gbogbo ayé.
Certainly, I give thanks to my God, through Jesus Christ, first for all of you, because your faith is being announced throughout the entire world.
9 Ọlọ́run ṣá à ni ẹlẹ́rìí mi, ẹni tí èmí ń fi gbogbo ẹ̀mí mi sìn nínú ìyìnrere Ọmọ rẹ̀, bí ó ti ṣe pé ní àìsimi ni èmí ń rántí yín nígbà gbogbo nínú àdúrà mi
For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit by the Gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I have kept a remembrance of you
10 nínú àdúrà mi ìgbà gbogbo; mo tún ń gbàdúrà wí pé nípa oore-ọ̀fẹ́ Ọlọ́run kí ọ̀nà ó ṣí fún mi láti wá sọ́dọ̀ yín.
always in my prayers, pleading that in some way, at some time, I may have a prosperous journey, within the will of God, to come to you.
11 Nítorí èmi ń fẹ́ gidigidi láti tọ̀ yín wá, kí èmi lè fún yín ní ẹ̀bùn ẹ̀mí díẹ̀, kí a bá a le sọ yín di alágbára nínú Olúwa,
For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you a certain spiritual grace to strengthen you,
12 èyí nì ni pé, kí a lè jẹ́ ìwúrí fún ara wa nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan wa.
specifically, to be consoled together with you through that which is mutual: your faith and mine.
13 Mo fẹ́ kí ẹ mọ èyí, ẹ̀yin ará mi, pé mo ti gbìyànjú lọ́pọ̀ ìgbà láti tọ̀ yín wá (ṣùgbọ́n ìdíwọ́ wà fún mi), kí èmi ki ó lè jèrè ọkàn díẹ̀ láàrín yín, gẹ́gẹ́ bí mo ti ní láàrín àwọn aláìkọlà yòókù.
But I want you to know, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you, (though I have been hindered even to the present time) so that I might obtain some fruit among you also, just as also among the other Gentiles.
14 Nítorí mo jẹ́ ajigbèsè sí Giriki àti sí àwọn aláìgbédè tí kì í ṣe Giriki, sí àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n àti sí àwọn aṣiwèrè.
To the Greeks and to the uncivilized, to the wise and to the foolish, I am in debt.
15 Nítorí ìdí èyí ni mo ṣe ń làkàkà láti wá sí Romu àti láti fi gbogbo agbára mi wàásù ìyìnrere Ọlọ́run sí i yín.
So within me there is a prompting to evangelize to you also who are at Rome.
16 Èmi kò tijú ìyìnrere Jesu, nítorí agbára Ọlọ́run ní ín ṣe láti gba gbogbo àwọn tí ó bá gbàgbọ́ là, ọ̀rọ̀ yìí ni a kọ́kọ́ wàásù sí àwọn Júù nìkan, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí fún àwọn Helleni pẹ̀lú.
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation for all believers, the Jew first, and the Greek.
17 Nítorí nínú ìyìnrere ni òdodo Ọlọ́run ti farahàn, òdodo Ọlọ́run nípa ìgbàgbọ́ láti ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ dé òpin gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ nínú Ìwé Mímọ́ pé, “Olódodo yóò yè nípa ìgbàgbọ́ rẹ̀.”
For the justice of God is revealed within it, by faith unto faith, just as it was written: “For the just one lives by faith.”
18 Ṣùgbọ́n Ọlọ́run fi ìbínú rẹ̀ hàn láti ọ̀run wá sí gbogbo àìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run àti gbogbo àìṣòdodo ènìyàn, àwọn tí ń fi ìwà búburú dènà ìmọ̀ òtítọ́ lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven over every impiety and injustice among those men who fend off the truth of God with injustice.
19 Nítorí pé, nǹkan gbogbo tí a lè mọ nípa Ọlọ́run ni a ti fihàn fún wọn, nítorí Ọlọ́run ti fi í hàn fún wọn.
For what is known about God is manifest in them. For God has manifested it to them.
20 Nítorí pé láti ìgbà dídá ayé, gbogbo ohun àìlèfojúrí rẹ̀, bí agbára ayérayé àti ìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ ni a rí gbangba tí a sì ń fi òye ohun tí a dá mọ̀ ọ́n kí ènìyàn má ba à wá àwáwí. (aïdios )
For unseen things about him have been made conspicuous, since the creation of the world, being understood by the things that were made; likewise his everlasting virtue and divinity, so much so that they have no excuse. (aïdios )
21 Lóòótọ́, wọn ní òye nípa Ọlọ́run dáradára, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò yìn ín lógo bí Ọlọ́run, wọ́n kò sí dúpẹ́ lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀; wọ́n ń ro èrò asán, ọkàn aṣiwèrè wọn sì ṣókùnkùn.
For although they had known God, they did not glorify God, nor give thanks. Instead, they became weakened in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was obscured.
22 Níwọ́n bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ wí pé wọ́n pe ara wọn ní ọlọ́gbọ́n ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n di òmùgọ̀ pátápátá,
For, while proclaiming themselves to be wise, they became foolish.
23 wọ́n sì yí ògo Ọlọ́run tí kì í díbàjẹ́ sí àwọn àwòrán ère bí i ti ènìyàn tí í díbàjẹ́ àti ti ẹyẹ, àti ti ẹranko ẹlẹ́sẹ̀ mẹ́rin àti ti ẹranko afàyàfà.
And they exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of flying things, and of four-legged beasts, and of serpents.
24 Nítorí náà Ọlọ́run fà wọ́n lé ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ ọkàn wọn lọ́wọ́ láti máa ṣe ohun ìríra pẹ̀lú ara wọn èyí tí kò tọ́.
For this reason, God handed them over to the desires of their own heart for impurity, so that they afflicted their own bodies with indignities among themselves.
25 Wọ́n yí òtítọ́ Ọlọ́run sí èké, wọ́n sì ń foríbalẹ̀ láti máa sin ẹ̀dá dípò ẹlẹ́dàá—ẹni tí ìyìn tọ́ sí láéláé. Àmín. (aiōn )
And they exchanged the truth of God for a lie. And they worshipped and served the creature, rather than the Creator, who is blessed for all eternity. Amen. (aiōn )
26 Nítorí èyí yìí ni Ọlọ́run ṣe fi wọ́n fún ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́, nítorí àwọn obìnrin wọn tilẹ̀ ń yí ìṣẹ̀dá ìbáṣepọ̀ tí ó tọ̀nà, sí èyí tí kò tọ̀nà.
Because of this, God handed them over to shameful passions. For example, their females have exchanged the natural use of the body for a use which is against nature.
27 Gẹ́gẹ́ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọkùnrin pẹ̀lú, wọn a máa fi ìbálòpọ̀ obìnrin nípa ti ẹ̀dá sílẹ̀, wọn a máa fẹ́ ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ sí ara wọn, ọkùnrin ń bá ọkùnrin ṣe èyí tí kò yẹ, wọ́n sì ǹ jẹ èrè ìṣìnà wọn nínú ara wọn bí ó ti yẹ sí.
And similarly, the males also, abandoning the natural use of females, have burned in their desires for one another: males doing with males what is disgraceful, and receiving within themselves the recompense that necessarily results from their error.
28 Àti gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti kọ̀ láti gba Ọlọ́run nínú ìmọ̀ tí ó tọ́, Ọlọ́run fi wọ́n fún iyè ríra láti ṣe ohun tí kò tọ́ fún wọn láti ṣe.
And since they did not prove to have God by knowledge, God handed them over to a morally depraved way of thinking, so that they might do those things which are not fitting:
29 Wọ́n kún fún onírúurú àìṣòdodo gbogbo, àgbèrè, ìkà, ojúkòkòrò, àrankàn; wọ́n kún fún ìlara, ìpànìyàn, ìjà, ìtànjẹ, ìwà búburú; wọ́n jẹ́ afọ̀rọ̀kẹ́lẹ́ ba ni jẹ́.
having been completely filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness; full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, spite, gossiping;
30 Asọ̀rọ̀ ẹni lẹ́yìn, akórìíra Ọlọ́run, aláfojúdi, agbéraga, ahalẹ̀, aláròṣe ohun búburú, aṣàìgbọràn sí òbí,
slanderous, hateful toward God, abusive, arrogant, self-exalting, devisers of evil, disobedient to parents,
31 aláìníyè nínú, ọ̀dàlẹ̀, aláìnígbàgbọ́, ọ̀dájú, aláìláàánú.
foolish, disorderly; without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.
32 Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ wí pé wọ́n mọ ìlànà Ọlọ́run pé, ẹni tí ó bá ṣe irú nǹkan wọ̀nyí yẹ sí ikú, wọn kò ní inú dídùn sí àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí nìkan ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n ní inú dídùn sí àwọn tí ń ṣe wọ́n.
And these, though they had known the justice of God, did not understand that those who act in such a manner are deserving of death, and not only those who do these things, but also those who consent to what is done.
