< Romans 3 >

1 Ǹjẹ́ àǹfààní wo ní Júù ní? Tàbí kín ni èrè ilà kíkọ?
What, then, [is] the superiority of the Jew? Or what the profit of the circumcision?
2 Púpọ̀ lọ́nà gbogbo; pàtàkì jùlọ ni pé àwọn ni a fi ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run lé lọ́wọ́.
Much in every way; for first, indeed, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God;
3 Ǹjẹ́ kí ha ni bí àwọn kan jẹ́ aláìgbàgbọ́? Àìgbàgbọ́ wọn yóò ha sọ òtítọ́ Ọlọ́run di asán bí?
for what, if certain were faithless? Will their faithlessness make the faithfulness of God useless?
4 Kí a má rí! Kí Ọlọ́run jẹ́ olóòtítọ́, àti olúkúlùkù ènìyàn jẹ́ èké; gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ pé: “Kí a lè dá ọ láre nínú ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ, ṣùgbọ́n kí ìwọ lè borí nígbà tí ìwọ bá wá sí ìdájọ́.”
Let it not be! And let God become true, and every man false, according as it has been written: “That You may be declared righteous in Your words, and may overcome in Your being judged.”
5 Ṣùgbọ́n bí àìṣòdodo wa bá fi òdodo Ọlọ́run hàn, kín ni àwa ó wí? Ọlọ́run ha jẹ́ àìṣòdodo bí, nígbà tí ó bá ń fi ìbínú rẹ̀ hàn? (Mo fi ṣe àkàwé bí ènìyàn.)
And if our unrighteousness establishes God’s righteousness, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who is inflicting the wrath? (I speak after the manner of a man.)
6 Kí a má rí i. Bí bẹ́ẹ̀ bá ni, Ọlọ́run yóò ha ṣe lè dájọ́ aráyé?
Let it not be! Since how will God judge the world?
7 Nítorí bí òtítọ́ Ọlọ́run bá di púpọ̀ sí ìyìn rẹ̀ nítorí èké mi, èéṣe tí a fi ń dá mi lẹ́jọ́ bí ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀?
For if the truth of God in my falsehood abounded more to His glory, why am I also yet judged as a sinner?
8 Èéṣe tí a kò fi ṣe búburú kí rere lè jáde wá? Bí àwọn kan tí ń fi ẹnu àtẹ́ sọ wí pé a ń sọ bẹ́ẹ̀; ti àwọn kan sì ń tẹnumọ́ ọn pé a sọ; àwọn ẹni tí ìdálẹ́bi wọn tọ́.
And not, as we are spoken evil of, and as certain affirm us to say, “We may do the evil things, that the good ones may come?” Whose judgment is righteous.
9 Ǹjẹ́ kí ha ni? Àwa ha sàn ju wọn lọ bí? Kò rí bẹ́ẹ̀ rárá, nítorí a fihàn ṣáájú pé àti àwọn Júù àti àwọn Giriki, gbogbo wọn ni ó wà lábẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
What, then? Are we better? Not at all! For we charged before both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin,
10 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ pé, “Kò sí ẹni tí í ṣe olódodo, kò sí ẹnìkan,
according as it has been written: “There is none righteous, not even one;
11 kò sí ẹni tí òye yé, kò sí ẹni tí ó ń wá Ọlọ́run.
there is none who is understanding, there is none who is seeking after God.
12 Gbogbo wọn ni ó ti yapa, wọ́n jùmọ̀ di aláìlérè; kò sí ẹni tí ń ṣe rere, kò tilẹ̀ sí ẹnìkan.”
All went out of the way, together they became unprofitable, there is none doing good, there is not even one.
13 “Ibojì tí ó ṣí sílẹ̀ ní ọ̀fun wọn: ahọ́n wọn n sọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀tàn.” “Oró paramọ́lẹ̀ ń bẹ lábẹ́ ètè wọn.”
Their throat [is] an opened grave; with their tongues they used deceit; poison of cobras [is] under their lips—
14 “Ẹnu ẹni tí ó kún fún èpè àti fún oró kíkorò.”
whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.
15 “Ẹsẹ̀ wọn yára láti ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ sílẹ̀,
Their feet [are] swift to shed blood.
16 ìparun àti ìpọ́njú wà lọ́nà wọn.
Ruin and misery [are] in their ways.
17 Ọ̀nà àlàáfíà ni wọn kò sì mọ̀,”
And a way of peace they did not know.
18 “Ìbẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run kò sí níwájú wọn.”
There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Àwa sì mọ̀ pé ohunkóhun tí òfin bá wí, ó ń wí fún àwọn tí ó wà lábẹ́ òfin: kí gbogbo ẹnu bá à lè dákẹ́ àti kí a lè mú gbogbo aráyé wá sábẹ́ ìdájọ́ Ọlọ́run.
And we have known that as many things as the Law says, to those in the Law it speaks, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God;
20 Nítorí pé nípa iṣẹ́ òfin, a kì yóò dá ẹnikẹ́ni láre níwájú rẹ̀: nítorí nípa òfin ni ìmọ̀ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ti wá.
for this reason by works of law will no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.
21 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, a ti fi òdodo Ọlọ́run hàn láìsí òfin, tí a ti ń jẹ́rìí sí nípa òfin àti nípa àwọn wòlíì,
And now apart from law the righteousness of God has been revealed, testified to by the Law and the Prophets,
22 àní òdodo Ọlọ́run nípa ìgbàgbọ́ nínú Jesu Kristi, sí gbogbo ènìyàn àti gbogbo àwọn tí ó gbàgbọ́, nítorí tí kò sí ìyàtọ̀ láàrín Júù àti Helleni.
and the righteousness of God [is] through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and on all those believing—for there is no difference,
23 Gbogbo ènìyàn ni ó ṣá ti ṣẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì kùnà ògo Ọlọ́run,
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God—
24 àwọn ẹni tí a ń dá láre lọ́fẹ̀ẹ́ nípa oore-ọ̀fẹ́ rẹ̀, nípa ìdáǹdè tí ó wà nínú Kristi Jesu.
being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that [is] in Christ Jesus,
25 Ẹni tí Ọlọ́run ti gbé kalẹ̀ láti jẹ́ ètùtù nípa ìgbàgbọ́ nípa ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀, láti fi òdodo rẹ̀ hàn nítorí ìdáríjì àwọn ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ tí ó ti kọjá, nínú ìpamọ́ra Ọlọ́run,
whom God set forth [as] a propitiatory covering, through faith in His blood, for the showing forth of His righteousness, because of the passing over of the former sins in the forbearance of God—
26 láti fi òdodo rẹ̀ hàn ní ìgbà ìsinsin yìí: kí ó lè jẹ́ olódodo àti olùdáláre ẹni tí ó gba Jesu gbọ́.
for the showing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for His being righteous, and declaring him righteous who [is] of the faith of Jesus.
27 Ọ̀nà ìṣògo dà? A ti mú un kúrò. Nípa òfin wo? Nípa iṣẹ́? Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, ṣùgbọ́n nípa òfin ìgbàgbọ́.
Where then [is] the boasting? It was excluded; by what law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith:
28 Nítorí náà, a parí rẹ̀ sí pé nípa ìgbàgbọ́ ni a ń dá ènìyàn láre láìsí iṣẹ́ òfin.
therefore we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.
29 Ọlọ́run àwọn Júù nìkan ha ni bí? Kì í ha ṣe ti àwọn aláìkọlà pẹ̀lú? Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, ti àwọn aláìkọlà pẹ̀lú.
[Is He] only the God of Jews, and not also of nations?
30 Bí ó ti jẹ́ pé Ọlọ́run kan ni, yóò dá àwọn akọlà láre nípa ìgbàgbọ́ àti àwọn aláìkọlà nípa ìgbàgbọ́ wọn.
Yes, also of nations; since [there is] one God who will declare righteous circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Àwa ha ń sọ òfin dasán nípa ìgbàgbọ́ bí? Kí a má rí i, ṣùgbọ́n a ń fi òfin múlẹ̀.
Do we then make law useless through faith? Let it not be! Indeed, we establish law.
