< Psalms 55 >
1 Fún adarí orin. Pẹ̀lú ohun èlò orin olókùn. Maskili ti Dafidi. Fi etí sí àdúrà mi, Ọlọ́run, má ṣe fi ojú pa ẹ̀bẹ̀ mi rẹ́:
For the leader. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. Listen, God, to my prayer. Don’t hide yourself from my pleading.
2 gbọ́ mi kí o sì dá mi lóhùn. Èrò mi ń dà mí láàmú, èmi sì ń pariwo.
Hear me, and answer; for bitter is my lament.
3 Sí ohùn àwọn ọ̀tá ni, nítorí igbe àwọn ènìyàn búburú; nítorí wọ́n mú ìjìyà wá sórí mi, wọ́n sì kẹ́gàn mi nínú ìbínú wọn.
I am wild with the noise of the foe, with the clamor of the ungodly; for they hurl disaster upon me, and attack me with fury.
4 Ọkàn mi wà nínú ìrora pẹ̀lú; ẹ̀rù ikú kọjú ìjà sí mi.
My heart shudders within me, terrors of deaths press on me,
5 Ìbẹ̀rù àti ìwárìrì wa sí ara mi; ìbẹ̀rù ti bò mí mọ́lẹ̀.
fear and trembling attack me, and horror wraps me round.
6 Èmi sọ pé, “Èmi ìbá ní ìyẹ́ bí àdàbà! Èmi ìbá fò lọ kí n sì sinmi.
O for the wings of a dove: I would fly away and rest.
7 Èmi ìbá sálọ, jìnnà réré, kí ń sì dúró sí aginjù;
I would wander far away, find refuge in the wilderness. (Selah)
8 èmi ìbá yára lọ́ si ibùgbé mi ní ibi ààbò, jìnnà kúrò nínú ìjì àti ẹ̀fúùfù líle.”
I would find myself a shelter from raging wind and tempest.
9 Da àwọn ẹni búburú láàmú, Olúwa, da ahọ́n wọn rú, nítorí èmi rí ìwà agbára àti ìjà ní ìlú náà.
Confuse them, Lord, upset their plans; for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Ọ̀sán àti òru ni wọ́n fi ń rìn gbogbo odi kiri; ìwà ìkà àti èébú wà láàrín rẹ̀.
By day and by night they make their rounds on the city walls, while within is crime and trouble,
11 Ìwà búburú ń bẹ ní àárín rẹ̀; ẹ̀tàn àti èké kò kúrò ní ìgboro rẹ̀.
within is ruin. Her market-place is never free of deceit and tyranny.
12 Tí ọ̀tá bá tàbùkù mi, èmi yóò fi ara mọ́ ọn; tí ọ̀tá bá gbé ara rẹ̀ ga sí mi, èmi ìbá sá pamọ́ fún un.
The taunts were not those of a foe that I could have borne; the disdain was not that of an enemy I could have shunned them:
13 Ṣùgbọ́n tí ó bá ṣe ìwọ, ọkùnrin bí ẹgbẹ́ mi, ẹlẹgbẹ́ mi, àti ọ̀rẹ́ tí ó súnmọ́ mi,
but it was you, my equal, my dear and familiar friend.
14 pẹ̀lú ẹni tí èmi ti jẹ ìgbádùn adùn ìdàpọ̀, bí a ṣe ń rìn pẹ̀lú àwùjọ ní ilé Ọlọ́run.
We used to be so close, together we walked in God’s house with the crowd.
15 Kí ikú kí ó dé bá wọn, kí wọn ó lọ láààyè sí isà òkú, jẹ́ kí wọn ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ sí ibojì pẹ̀lú ìpayà, nítorí tí ìwà búburú ń bẹ ní ibùjókòó wọn, àti nínú wọn. (Sheol )
May death suddenly take them, may they go down to Sheol alive, for evil lives in their homes and their hearts. (Sheol )
16 Ṣùgbọ́n èmi pe Ọlọ́run; Olúwa yóò sì gbà mí.
But I will call on God, the Lord will save me.
17 Ní alẹ́, ní òwúrọ̀ àti ní ọ̀sán èmi sọkún jáde nínú ìpọ́njú, o sì gbọ́ ohùn mi.
Evening and morning and noon I lament and moan. He will hear my voice;
18 Ó rà mí padà láìléwu kúrò nínú ogun tí ó dìde sí mi, nítorí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ni ó dìde sí mi.
though I am attacked by many he will rescue me, unharmed from the war.
19 Ọlọ́run yóò gbọ́, yóò sì pọ́n wọn lójú àní, ẹni tí ó ti jókòó láti ìgbàanì (Sela) nítorí tí wọn kò ní àyípadà, tí wọn kò sì bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run.
God, who sits on his ancient throne will hear and will humble them, for they never change, they never fear God. (Selah)
20 Ọ̀rẹ́ mi yìí ti dalẹ̀ èmi ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ̀; ó ti ba májẹ̀mú rẹ̀ jẹ́.
My friend turned against me, betrayed his word.
21 Ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu rẹ̀ kúnná ju òrí-àmọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ogun wà ni àyà rẹ̀; ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ fẹ́lẹ́ ju òróró lọ, ṣùgbọ́n idà fífàyọ ní wọn.
His mouth was smoother than butter, but war filled his heart. His words were softer than oil, but sharper than swords.
22 Gbé ẹrù rẹ lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa yóò sì mú ọ dúró; òun kò ní jẹ́ kí olódodo ṣubú.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken.
23 Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ, Ọlọ́run, ni yóò mu àwọn ọ̀tá mi wá sí ihò ìparun; àwọn ẹni tí òǹgbẹ ẹ̀jẹ̀ ń gbẹ àti ẹni ẹ̀tàn, kì yóò gbé ààbọ̀ ọjọ́ wọn. Ṣùgbọ́n fún èmi, èmi gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọ.
But you, God, will hurl them down to the deepest pit. Bloody and treacherous people will not live out half their days; but I will trust you.
