< Psalms 49 >
1 Fún adarí orin. Ti àwọn ọmọ Kora. Saamu. Ẹ gbọ́ èyí, gbogbo ènìyàn! Ẹ fi etí sí i, gbogbo ẹ̀yin aráyé.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. Hear this, all [ye] people; give ear, all [ye] inhabitants of the world:
2 Àti ẹni tí ó ga àti ẹni tí ó kéré tálákà àti ọlọ́lá pẹ̀lú!
Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
3 Ẹnu mi yóò sọ̀rọ̀ ọgbọ́n, èrò láti ọkàn mi yóò mú òye wá
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart [shall be] of understanding.
4 èmi yóò dẹ etí mi sílẹ̀ sí òwe, èmi yóò ṣí ọ̀rọ̀ ìkọ̀kọ̀ mi sílẹ̀ lójú okùn dùùrù.
I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
5 Èéṣe ti èmi yóò bẹ̀rù nígbà tí ọjọ́ ibi dé? Nígbà tí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn ajinnilẹ́sẹ̀ mi yí mi ká,
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, [when] the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
6 àwọn tí o gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọrọ̀ wọn, tí wọn sì ń ṣe ìlérí ni ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ọrọ̀ wọn.
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7 Kò sí ọkùnrin tí ó lè ra ẹ̀mí ẹnìkejì rẹ̀ padà tàbí san owó ìràpadà fún Ọlọ́run.
None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 Nítorí ìràpadà fún ẹni jẹ́ iyebíye kò sì sí iye owó tó tó fún sísan rẹ̀,
(For the redemption of their soul [is] precious, and it ceaseth for ever: )
9 ní ti kí ó máa wà títí ayé láìrí isà òkú.
That he should still live for ever, [and] not see corruption.
10 Nítorí ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn rí ọkùnrin ọlọ́gbọ́n tí ó kú, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni aṣiwèrè àti aláìlọ́gbọ́n pẹ̀lú ṣègbé wọ́n sì fi ọrọ̀ wọn sílẹ̀ fún ẹlòmíràn.
For he seeth [that] wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 Ibojì wọn ni yóò jẹ́ ilé wọn láéláé, ibùgbé wọn láti ìrandíran, wọn sọ orúkọ ilẹ̀ wọn ní orúkọ ara wọn.
Their inward thought [is, that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [and] their dwelling places to all generations; they call [their] lands after their own names.
12 Ṣùgbọ́n ọkùnrin tí o wà nínú ọlá kò dúró pẹ́ ó sì dàbí ẹranko tí ó ṣègbé.
Nevertheless man [being] in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts [that] perish.
13 Èyí ni òtítọ́ àwọn ènìyàn tí ó gbàgbọ́ nínú ara wọn, àti àwọn tí ń tẹ̀lé wọn, tí ó gba ọ̀rọ̀ wọn. (Sela)
This their way [is] their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. (Selah)
14 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí àgùntàn ni a tẹ́ wọn sínú isà òkú ikú yóò jẹun lórí wọn; ẹni tí ó dúró ṣinṣin ni yóò, jẹ ọba lórí wọn ní òwúrọ̀. Ẹwà wọn yóò díbàjẹ́, isà òkú ni ibùgbé ẹwà wọn. (Sheol )
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. (Sheol )
15 Ṣùgbọ́n Ọlọ́run yóò ra ọkàn mi padà kúrò nínú isà òkú, yóò gbé mi lọ sọ́dọ̀ òun fún rara rẹ̀. (Sheol )
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. (Selah) (Sheol )
16 Má ṣe bẹ̀rù nígbà tí ẹnìkan bá di ọlọ́rọ̀. Nígbà tí ìyìn ilé rẹ̀ ń pọ̀ sí i.
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17 Nítorí kì yóò mú ohun kan lọ nígbà tí ó bá kú, ògo rẹ̀ kò ní bá a sọ̀kalẹ̀ sí ipò òkú.
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
18 Nígbà tí ó wà láyé, ó súre fún ọkàn ara rẹ̀. Àwọn ènìyàn yìn ọ́ nígbà tí ìwọ ṣe rere.
Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and [men] will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
19 Òun yóò lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ìran àwọn baba rẹ̀ àwọn tí ki yóò ri ìmọ́lẹ̀ ayé.
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
20 Ọkùnrin tí ó ní ọlá tí kò ní òye dàbí ẹranko tí ó ṣègbé.
Man [that is] in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts [that] perish.
