< Psalms 31 >

1 Fún adarí orin. Saamu ti Dafidi. Nínú rẹ̀, Olúwa ni mo ti rí ààbò; má ṣe jẹ́ kí ojú kí ó tì mí; gbà mí nínú òdodo rẹ.
Yahweh, I have come to you to be protected; do not allow me to be [defeated, with the result that I am] disgraced. Since you always do what is fair/right, rescue me!
2 Tẹ́ etí rẹ sí mi, gbà mí kíákíá; jẹ́ àpáta ààbò mi, jẹ́ odi alágbára láti gbà mí.
Listen to me, and save me right now! Be [like] a huge rock [under which I can hide] [MET] and [like] a strong fort in which I will be safe.
3 Ìwọ pàápàá ni àpáta àti ààbò mi, nítorí orúkọ rẹ, máa ṣe olùtọ́ mi, kí o sì ṣe amọ̀nà mi.
Yes, you are [like] my huge rock and my fort; guide me and lead me [DOU] in order that I can honor you [MTY].
4 Yọ mí jáde kúrò nínú àwọ̀n tí wọ́n dẹ pamọ́ fún mi, nítorí ìwọ ni ìsádi mi.
You are the one who protects me, so keep me from falling into the hidden traps [that my enemies have set for me].
5 Ní ọwọ́ rẹ ni mo fi ẹ̀mí mi lé; ìwọ ni o ti rà mí padà, Olúwa, Ọlọ́run òtítọ́.
Yahweh, you are a God who can be trusted, so I put myself into your care because you rescued me.
6 Èmi ti kórìíra àwọn ẹni tí ń fiyèsí òrìṣà tí kò níye lórí; ṣùgbọ́n èmi gbẹ́kẹ̀lé Olúwa.
Yahweh, I hate those who worship useless idols, but I trust in you.
7 Èmi yóò yọ̀, inú mi yóò dùn nínú ìfẹ́ ńlá rẹ, nítorí ìwọ ti rí ìbìnújẹ́ mi ìwọ ti mọ̀ ọkàn mi nínú ìpọ́njú.
I will be very glad [DOU] because you faithfully love me. You see me when I have been afflicted, and you have known when I have had troubles.
8 Pẹ̀lú, ìwọ kò sì fà mi lé àwọn ọ̀tá lọ́wọ́ ìwọ ti fi ẹsẹ̀ mi lé ibi ààyè ńlá.
You have not allowed my enemies to capture me; instead, you have rescued me from danger.
9 Ṣàánú fún mi, ìwọ Olúwa, nítorí mo wà nínú ìpọ́njú; ojú mi fi ìbìnújẹ́ sùn, ọkàn àti ara mi pẹ̀lú.
[But now], Yahweh, be kind to me [again] because I am distressed. Because I cry [so much], I cannot see well, and I am completely exhausted.
10 Èmi fi ìbànújẹ́ lo ọjọ́ mi àti àwọn ọdún mi pẹ̀lú ìmí ẹ̀dùn; agbára mi ti kùnà nítorí òsì mi, egungun mi sì ti rún dànù.
I have become very weak because I am [so] miserable, and it is causing my life to become shorter. I have become weak because of all my troubles; even my bones are becoming weaker.
11 Èmi di ẹni ẹ̀gàn láàrín àwọn ọ̀tá mi gbogbo, pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú láàrín àwọn aládùúgbò mi, mo sì di ẹ̀rù fún àwọn ojúlùmọ̀ mi; àwọn tí ó rí mi ní òde ń yẹra fún mi.
All of my enemies make fun of me, and [even] my neighbors despise me. [Even] my friends are afraid of me [because they think I am being punished by God], and when they see me on the streets, they run away.
12 Èmi ti di ẹni ìgbàgbé kúrò ní ọkàn gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹni tí ó ti kú; èmi sì dàbí ohun èlò tí ó ti fọ́.
People have forgotten me like they forget people who are dead. [They think I am as useless] as a broken pot.
13 Nítorí mo gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀gàn ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ìpayà tí ó yí mi ká; tí wọn gbìmọ̀ pọ̀ sí mi, wọ́n sì ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mi láti gba ẹ̀mí mi.
I have heard people slandering me, and they have caused me to become terrified. My enemies are making plans in order to kill me.
14 Ṣùgbọ́n èmí gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọ, ìwọ Olúwa; mo sọ wí pé, “Ìwọ ní Ọlọ́run mi.”
But Yahweh, I trust in you. You are my God.
15 Ìgbà mi ń bẹ ní ọwọ́ rẹ; gbà mí kúrò ní ọwọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá mi àti àwọn onínúnibíni.
My whole life [MTY] is in your hands; save me from my enemies, from those who pursue me.
16 Jẹ́ kí ojú rẹ kí ó tan ìmọ́lẹ̀ sí ìránṣẹ́ rẹ lára; gbà mí nínú ìfẹ́ rẹ tí ó dúró ṣinṣin.
Be kind to me and rescue me because you always faithfully love me.
17 Má ṣe jẹ́ kí ojú ki ó tì mí, Olúwa; nítorí pé mo ké pè ọ́; jẹ́ kí ojú kí ó ti ènìyàn búburú; jẹ́ kí wọ́n lọ pẹ̀lú ìdààmú sí isà òkú. (Sheol h7585)
Yahweh, I call out to you, so do not allow me to be disgraced. I desire that wicked people will be disgraced; I want them to [soon die and] go down to the place where the dead people are. (Sheol h7585)
18 Jẹ́ kí àwọn ètè irọ́ kí ó dákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́, pẹ̀lú ìgbéraga àti ìkẹ́gàn, wọ́n sọ̀rọ̀ àfojúdi sí olódodo.
I desire that you will cause people [MTY] who tell lies to be unable to speak. Do that to people who are proud and those who arrogantly accuse righteous people.
19 Báwo ni títóbi oore rẹ̀ ti pọ̀ tó, èyí tí ìwọ ti ní ní ìpamọ́ fún àwọn tí ó bẹ̀rù rẹ, èyí tí ìwọ rọ̀jò rẹ̀ níwájú àwọn ènìyàn tí wọ́n fi ọ́ ṣe ibi ìsádi wọn.
You have stored up many blessings for those who revere you. You do those good things for those who go to you to be protected; everyone sees you doing that.
20 Ní abẹ́ ìbòòji iwájú rẹ ni ìwọ pa wọ́n mọ́ sí kúrò nínú ìdìmọ̀lù àwọn ènìyàn; ní ibùgbé rẹ, o mú wọn kúrò nínú ewu kúrò nínú ìjà ahọ́n.
You hide people in your presence where it is safe, and protect them from people who plot [to kill them]. You hide them in safe places from their enemies [MTY] who accuse/insult them.
21 Olùbùkún ni Olúwa, nítorí pé ó ti fi àgbà ìyanu ìfẹ́ tí ó ní sí mi hàn, nígbà tí mo wà ní ìlú tí wọ́n rọ̀gbà yíká.
Praise Yahweh! When my enemies surrounded the city [in which I was living], he showed me in a wonderful way that he faithfully loves me.
22 Èmí ti sọ nínú ìdágìrì mi, “A gé mi kúrò ní ojú rẹ!” Síbẹ̀ ìwọ ti gbọ́ ẹ̀bẹ̀ mi fún àánú nígbà tí mo ké pè ọ́ fún ìrànlọ́wọ́.
I was afraid, and I cried out, “I have been separated from Yahweh!” but you heard me and answered my cry for help.
23 Ẹ fẹ́ Olúwa, gbogbo ẹ̀yin ènìyàn rẹ̀ mímọ́! Olúwa pa olódodo mọ́, ó sì san án padà fún agbéraga ní ẹ̀kúnrẹ́rẹ́.
You people who belong to Yahweh, love him! Those who are loyal to him, he protects, but those who are very proud, he punishes them severely like they deserve to be punished.
24 Jẹ́ alágbára, yóò sì mú yín ní àyà le gbogbo ẹ̀yin tí ó dúró de Olúwa.
You who confidently expect Yahweh [to do great things for you], be strong, be courageous!
