< Psalms 18 >

1 Fún adarí orin. Ti Dafidi ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa tí ó kọ sí Olúwa, ọ̀rọ̀ orin tí ó kọ sí Olúwa fún ìdáǹdè kúrò lọ́wọ́ Saulu ọ̀tá rẹ̀. Ó wí pé. Mo fẹ́ ọ, Olúwa, agbára mi.
“To the chief musician, by the servant of the Lord, by David, who spoke unto the Lord the words of this song on the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the power of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul; And he said,” I ever love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2 Olúwa ni àpáta àti odi mi, àti olùgbàlà mi; Ọlọ́run mi ni àpáta mi, ẹni tí mo fi ṣe ibi ìsádi mi. Òun ni àpáta ààbò àti ìwo ìgbàlà mi àti ibi ìsádi mi.
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 Mo ké pe Olúwa, ẹni tí ìyìn yẹ fún, a ó sì gbà mí lọ́wọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá à mi.
Praised, I cried, be the Lord, and from my enemies was I saved.
4 Ìrora ikú yí mi kà, àti ìṣàn omi àwọn ènìyàn búburú dẹ́rùbà mí.
The bonds of death encompassed me, and the floods of destruction made me afraid.
5 Okùn isà òkú yí mi ká, ìkẹ́kùn ikú dojúkọ mí. (Sheol h7585)
The bonds of hell encircled me: the snares of death seized on me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Nínú ìpọ́njú mo ké pe Olúwa; mo sọkún sí Olúwa mi fún ìrànlọ́wọ́. Láti inú tẹmpili rẹ̀, ó gbọ́ igbe mi; ẹkún mi wá sí iwájú rẹ̀, sí inú etí rẹ̀.
[When] in my distress I called upon the Lord, and unto my God I cried: he heard from his temple my voice, and my complaint came before him, even into his ears.
7 Ayé wárìrì, ó sì mì tìtì, ìpìlẹ̀ àwọn òkè gíga sì ṣídìí; wọ́n wárìrì nítorí tí ó ń bínú.
Then shook and trembled the earth; and the foundations of the mountains were moved; and they were shaken, because he was wroth.
8 Èéfín ti ihò imú rẹ̀ jáde wá; iná ajónirun ti ẹnu rẹ̀ jáde wá, ẹ̀yin iná bú jáde láti inú rẹ̀.
Smoke went up in his anger and consuming fire out of his mouth: coals flamed forth from him.
9 Ó pín àwọn ọ̀run, Ó sì jáde wá; àwọsánmọ̀ dúdú sì wà ní abẹ́ ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀.
And he bent the heavens, and came down: and thick darkness was under his feet:
10 Ó gun orí kérúbù, ó sì fò; ó ń rábàbà lórí ìyẹ́ apá afẹ́fẹ́.
And he rode upon a cherub, and flew along, and he flitted by upon the wings of the wind.
11 Ó fi òkùnkùn ṣe ibojì rẹ̀, ó fi ṣe ìbòrí yí ara rẹ̀ ká kurukuru òjò dúdú ní ojú ọ̀run.
He made darkness his hiding-place, round about him as his pavilion, dark waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 Nípa ìmọ́lẹ̀ iwájú rẹ̀, àwọsánmọ̀ ṣíṣú dudu rẹ kọjá lọ pẹ̀lú yìnyín àti ẹ̀yín iná
From the brightness before him his thick clouds passed away, [with] hail-stones and coals of fire.
13 Olúwa sán àrá láti ọ̀run wá; Ọ̀gá-ògo sì fọ ohun rẹ̀; yìnyín àti ẹ̀yin iná.
And the Lord thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered forth his voice, [with] hail-stones and coals of fire.
14 Ó ta àwọn ọfà rẹ̀, ó sì tú àwọn ọ̀tá náà ká, ọfà mọ̀nàmọ́ná ńlá sì dà wọ́n rú.
And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot forth lightnings, and discomfited them.
15 A sì fi ìsàlẹ̀ àwọn òkun hàn, a sì rí àwọn ìpìlẹ̀ ayé nípa ìbáwí rẹ, Olúwa, nípa fífún èémí ihò imú rẹ.
And then were seen the channels of the waters, and there were laid open the foundations of the world, through thy rebuke, O Lord, through the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 Ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ibi gíga, ó sì dì mímú; Ó fà mí jáde láti inú omi jíjìn.
He stretched out from above [his hand], he took me; he drew me out from mighty waters.
17 Ó gbà mí kúrò lọ́wọ́ ọ̀tá mi alágbára, láti ọwọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá, ti ó lágbára jù fún mi.
He delivered me from my enemy, the strong, and from those that hated me, when they were too mighty for me.
18 Wọ́n dojúkọ mí ní ọjọ́ ìpọ́njú mi; ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa ni alátìlẹ́yìn mi.
They overcame me on the day of my calamity; but the Lord became my stay.
19 Ó mú mi jáde wá sínú ibi ńlá; Ó gbà mí nítorí tí ó ní inú dídùn sí mi.
And he brought me forth into a large space; he delivered me, because he had delight in me.
20 Olúwa ti hùwà sí mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí òdodo mi; gẹ́gẹ́ bí mímọ́ ọwọ́ mi, ó ti fi èrè fún mi.
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the purity of my hands did he recompense me.
21 Nítorí mo ti pa ọ̀nà Olúwa mọ́; èmi kò ṣe búburú nípa yíyí padà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run mi.
For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 Gbogbo òfin rẹ̀ ni ó wà níwájú mi; èmi kò sì yípadà kúrò nínú ìlànà rẹ̀.
For all his ordinances were before me, and his statutes had I not put away from me.
23 Mo ti jẹ́ aláìlẹ́bi níwájú rẹ̀; mo sì pa ara mi mọ́ kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
I was also upright with him, and I guarded myself against my iniquity.
24 Olúwa san ẹ̀san fún mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí òdodo mi; gẹ́gẹ́ bí mímọ́ ọwọ́ mi níwájú rẹ̀.
Therefore did the Lord recompense me according to my righteousness, according to the purity of my hands before his eyes.
25 Fún olóòtítọ́ ni ìwọ ó fi ara rẹ̀ hàn ní olóòtítọ́, sí aláìlẹ́bi, ìwọ ó fi ara rẹ̀ hàn ní aláìlẹ́bi,
With the kind thou wilt show thyself kind; with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright;
26 sí ọlọ́kàn mímọ́, ìwọ ó fi ara rẹ̀ hàn ní ọlọ́kàn mímọ́, ṣùgbọ́n sí ọlọ́kàn-wíwọ́, ìwọ ó fi ara rẹ̀ hàn ní òǹrorò.
With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt wage a contest.
27 O pa onírẹ̀lẹ̀ mọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ó rẹ àwọn ti ń gbéraga sílẹ̀.
For thou wilt indeed save the afflicted people; but haughty eyes wilt thou bring down.
28 Ìwọ, Olúwa, jẹ́ kí fìtílà mi kí ó máa tàn; Ọlọ́run mi, yí òkùnkùn mi padà sí ìmọ́lẹ̀.
For thou wilt cause my light to shine: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 Pẹ̀lú ìrànlọ́wọ́ rẹ̀, èmi sáré tọ ogun lọ; pẹ̀lú Ọlọ́run mi mo lè fo odi kan.
For [aided] by thee I run through a troop; and [helped] by my God I leap over a wall.
30 Bí ó ṣe ti Ọlọ́run mi, ọ̀nà rẹ̀ pé, a ti rídìí ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa òun ni àpáta ààbò fún gbogbo àwọn tí ó fi ṣe ààbò.
As for God, —his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a shield to all those that trust in him.
31 Nítorí ta ni ṣe Ọlọ́run bí kò ṣe Olúwa? Ta ní àpáta bí kò ṣe Olúwa wa?
For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock beside our God?
32 Ọlọ́run ni ẹni tí ó fi agbára dì mí ní àmùrè ó sì mú ọ̀nà mi pé.
He is the God that girdeth me with strength, and rendereth my way unobstructed.
33 Ó ṣe ẹsẹ̀ mi gẹ́gẹ́ bi ẹsẹ̀ abo àgbọ̀nrín; ó jẹ́ ki n lè dúró lórí ibi gíga.
He maketh my feet like those of the hinds, and upon my high-places he causeth me to stand.
34 Ó kọ́ ọwọ́ mi ni ogun jíjà; apá mi lè tẹ ọrùn idẹ.
He teacheth my hands for the war, so that a brazen bow is bent by my arms.
35 Ìwọ fi asà ìṣẹ́gun rẹ̀ fún mi, ọwọ́ ọ̀tún rẹ̀ gbé mí dúró; àti ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́ rẹ̀ sọ mí di ńlá.
And thou gavest me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand supported me: and thy meekness hath made me great.
36 Ìwọ sọ ìrìn ẹsẹ̀ mi di ńlá ní ìsàlẹ̀ mi, kí kókó-ẹsẹ̀ mi má ṣe yẹ̀.
Thou enlargest my steps under me, so that my joints do not slip.
37 Èmi lépa àwọn ọ̀tá mi, èmi sì bá wọn èmi kò sì padà lẹ́yìn wọn títí a fi run wọ́n.
I pursue my enemies, and overtake them; and I return not again till I have made an end of them.
38 Èmi sá wọn ní ọgbẹ́ tí wọn ko fi le è dìde; wọ́n ṣubú ní abẹ́ ẹsẹ̀ mi.
I crush them that they are not able to rise: they fall under my feet.
39 Nítorí ìwọ fi agbára dì mí ní àmùrè fún ogun náà; ìwọ ti mú àwọn tí ó dìde si mí tẹríba ní abẹ́ ẹsẹ̀ mi.
For thou hast girded me with strength for the war: thou subduest my opponents under me.
40 Ìwọ yí ẹ̀yìn àwọn ọ̀tá mí padà sí mi èmi sì pa àwọn tí ó kórìíra mi run.
And my enemies thou causest to turn their back to me; and those that hate me, —that I may destroy them.
41 Wọ́n kígbe fún ìrànlọ́wọ́, ṣùgbọ́n kò sí ẹnìkan tí ó gbà wọ́n, àní sí Olúwa, ṣùgbọ́n kò dá wọn lóhùn.
They cry, but there is none to help; unto the Lord, —but he answereth them not.
42 Mo lù wọ́n gẹ́gẹ́ bí eruku níwájú afẹ́fẹ́; mo dà wọ́n síta gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹrọ̀fọ̀.
And I beat them small as the dust before the wind: like the dirt in the streets do I cast them out.
43 Ìwọ ti gbà mí lọ́wọ́ ìkọlù àwọn ènìyàn; Ìwọ ti fi mí ṣe olórí àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè. Àwọn ènìyàn ti èmi kò mọ, yóò sì máa sìn mí,
Thou deliverest me from the contests of the people; thou appointest me to be the head of nations: a people that I know not shall serve me.
44 ni wéré ti wọ́n gbọ́ ohùn mi, wọ́n pa àṣẹ mi mọ́; àwọn ọmọ àjèjì yóò tẹríba fún mi.
As soon as their ear heareth they shall be obedient to me: the children of the stranger shall utter flattery unto me.
45 Àyà yóò pá àlejò; wọn yóò sì fi ìbẹ̀rù jáde láti ibi kọ́lọ́fín wọn.
The children of the stranger shall fade away, and come forth trembling out of their close places.
46 Olúwa wà láààyè! Olùbùkún ni àpáta mi! Gbígbéga ní Ọlọ́run Olùgbàlà mi.
The Lord liveth, and blessed be my Rock; and exalted be the God of my salvation;
47 Òun ni Ọlọ́run tí ó ń gbẹ̀san mi, tí ó sì ń ṣẹ́gun àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó wà ní abẹ́ mi,
The God that granteth me vengeance, and subdueth nations under me;
48 tí ó pa mí mọ́ kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá mí. Ìwọ gbé mi ga ju àwọn ọ̀tá tí ó dìde sí mi lọ; lọ́wọ́ àwọn ènìyàn alágbára ni ìwọ ti gbà mí.
That delivereth me from my enemies: also above my opponents thou liftest me up; thou deliverest me from the man of violence.
49 Títí láéláé, èmi yóò máa yìn ọ́ láàrín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè, ìwọ Olúwa; èmi yóò sì máa kọ orin ìyìn sí orúkọ rẹ.
Therefore will I give thanks unto thee among the nations, O Lord, and unto thy name will I sing praises, —
50 Ó fún ọba rẹ̀ ni ìṣẹ́gun ńlá; ó fi ìkáàánú àìṣẹ̀tàn fún ẹni àmì òróró rẹ̀, fún Dafidi àti ìran rẹ̀ títí láé.
[To him] that maketh great the salvation of his king, and who sheweth kindness to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for ever.
