< Psalms 17 >

1 Àdúrà ti Dafidi. Gbọ́, Olúwa, ẹ̀bẹ̀ òtítọ́ mi; fi etí sí igbe mi. Tẹ́tí sí àdúrà mi tí kò ti ètè ẹ̀tàn jáde.
A prayer of David. Listen, O Lord, to my innocence; attend to my piercing cry. Give heed to my prayer out of lips unfeigned.
2 Kí ìdáláre mi wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ; kí ojú rẹ kí ó rí ohun tí ó tọ́.
Let my vindication come from you, your eyes see the truth.
3 Ìwọ ti dán àyà mi wò, ìwọ sì bẹ̀ mí wò ní òru, o sì ti wádìí mi, ìwọ kì yóò rí ohunkóhun èmi ti pinnu pé, ẹnu mi kì yóò ṣẹ̀.
When you test my heart when you visit at night, and assay me like silver – you can find no evil. I am determined that my mouth should not lie.
4 Bí ó ṣe ti iṣẹ́ ènìyàn nípa ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu rẹ, èmi ti pa ara mi mọ́ kúrò ní ọ̀nà àwọn ìkà.
I gave earnest heed to the words of your lips.
5 Ìrìn mí ti jẹ mọ́ ọ̀nà rẹ; ẹsẹ̀ mi kì yóò yọ̀.
My steps have held fast to the paths of your precepts and in your tracks have my feet never stumbled.
6 Èmi ké pè ọ́, Ọlọ́run, nítorí tí ìwọ yóò dá mi lóhùn dẹ etí rẹ sí mi kí o sì gbọ́ àdúrà mi.
So I call you, O God, with assurance of answer; bend down your ear to me, hear what I say.
7 Fi ìṣeun ìyanu ìfẹ́ ńlá rẹ hàn ìwọ tí ó fi ọwọ́ ọ̀tún rẹ gba àwọn tí ó gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọ là lọ́wọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá tí ó dìde sí wọn.
Show your marvellous love, you who save from enemies those who take refuge at your right hand.
8 Pa mí mọ́ bí ẹyin ojú rẹ; fi mí pamọ́ sí abẹ́ òjìji ìyẹ́ apá rẹ,
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me in the shelter of your wings.
9 lọ́wọ́ àwọn ènìyàn búburú tí ń fóròó mi, kúrò ní ọwọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá apani tí ó yí mi ká.
From wicked people who do me violence, from deadly foes who crowd around me.
10 Wọ́n pa ọkàn aláìláàánú wọn mọ́, wọ́n sì fi ẹnu wọn sọ̀rọ̀ ìgbéraga.
They have closed their hearts to pity, the words of their mouths are haughty.
11 Wọ́n sì mú mi mọ́lẹ̀, wọ́n sì yí mi ká, pẹ̀lú ojú ìṣọ́ra láti ṣọ́ mi sílẹ̀.
Now they dog us at every step, keenly watching, to hurl us to the ground,
12 Wọn dàbí i kìnnìún tí ebi ń pa fún ìjẹ, àní bí kìnnìún ńlá tí ó ń ba níbi ìkọ̀kọ̀.
like a lion, longing to tear, like a young lion, lurking in secret.
13 Dìde, Olúwa, dojúkọ wọ́n, rẹ̀ wọ́n sílẹ̀; gbà mí sílẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ ẹni búburú nípa idà rẹ.
Arise, Lord, face them and fell them. By your sword set me free from the wicked,
14 Olúwa, nípa ọwọ́ rẹ, gbà mí kúrò lọ́wọ́ irú àwọn ènìyàn bẹ́ẹ̀, kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn ènìyàn ayé yìí, tí èrè wọn wà nínú ayé yìí. Ìwọ ń pa ebi àwọn tí ìwọ fẹ́ràn lẹ́nu mọ́; àwọn ọmọ wọn sì ní ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀, wọ́n sì kó ọrọ̀ jọ fún àwọn ọmọ wọn.
by your hand, O Lord, from those – whose portion of life is but of this world. But let your treasured ones have food in plenty may their children be full and their children satisfied.
15 Ṣùgbọ́n ní tèmi, èmi yóò máa wo ojú rẹ ní òdodo; nígbà tí èmi bá jí, èmi yóò ní ìtẹ́lọ́rùn nígbà tí èmi bá rí àwòrán rẹ.
In my innocence I will see your face, awake I am filled with a vision of you.
