< Psalms 137 >

1 Ní ẹ̀bá odò Babeli, níbẹ̀ ni àwa gbé jókòó àwa sì sọkún nígbà tí àwa rántí Sioni.
By the rivers of Babylon we sat down and wept when we thought about Zion.
2 Àwa fi dùùrù wa kọ́ sí orí igi wílò, tí ó wà láàrín rẹ̀.
On the poplars there we hung our harps.
3 Nítorí pé níbẹ̀ ni àwọn tí ó kó wa ní ìgbèkùn béèrè orin lọ́wọ́ wa, àti àwọn tí ó ni wá lára béèrè ìdárayá; wọn wí pé, “Ẹ kọ orin Sioni kan fún wa!”
There our captors required songs from us, and those who mocked us required us to be happy, saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”
4 Àwa ó ti ṣe kọ orin Olúwa ní ilẹ̀ àjèjì
How could we sing a song about Yahweh in a foreign land?
5 Jerusalẹmu, bí èmi bá gbàgbé rẹ jẹ́ kí ọwọ́ ọ̀tún mi kí ó gbàgbé ìlò rẹ̀.
If I ignore the memory of you, Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her skill.
6 Bí èmi kò bá rántí rẹ, jẹ́ kí ahọ́n mi kí ó lẹ̀ mọ́ èrìgì mi; bí èmi kò bá fi Jerusalẹmu ṣáájú olórí ayọ̀ mi gbogbo.
Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I think about you no more, if I do not prefer Jerusalem more than my greatest delights.
7 Olúwa rántí ọjọ́ Jerusalẹmu, lára àwọn ọmọ Edomu, àwọn ẹni tí ń wí pé, “Wó o palẹ̀, wó o palẹ̀ dé ìpìlẹ̀ rẹ̀!”
Call to mind, Yahweh, what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. They said, “Tear it down, tear it down to its foundations.”
8 Ìwọ, ọmọbìnrin Babeli, ẹni tí a ó parun; ìbùkún ni fún ẹni tí ó san án fún ọ bí ìwọ ti rò sí wa.
Daughter of Babylon, soon to be destroyed— may the person be blessed, whoever pays you back for what you have done to us.
9 Ìbùkún ni fún ẹni tí ó mú ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́ rẹ tí ó sì fi wọ́n ṣán òkúta.
May the person be blessed, whoever takes and dashes your little ones against a rock.
