< Psalms 10 >
1 Èéha ti ṣe, Olúwa, tí ìwọ fi dúró ní òkè réré? Èéha ti ṣe, tí ìwọ fi ara rẹ pamọ́ ní ìgbà ìpọ́njú?
Wherefore, O Lord, standest thou afar off? hidest thyself in times of distress?
2 Nínú àrékérekè ni ènìyàn búburú tí mu aláìlera, ẹni ti ó mú nínú ìdẹ̀kùn àrékérekè rẹ̀.
In the pride of the wicked doth he hotly pursue the poor: they are seized through the plans that those have devised.
3 Nítorí ènìyàn búburú ń ṣògo ìfẹ́ inú ọkàn rẹ̀; Ó bùkún olójúkòkòrò, ó sì ń kẹ́gàn Olúwa.
For the wicked boasteth of the longing of his soul, and the robber blesseth himself when he hath despised the Lord.
4 Ènìyàn búburú kò lè rí nínú ìgbéraga rẹ̀; kò sí ààyè fún Ọlọ́run nínú gbogbo èrò rẹ̀.
The wicked, according to the pride of his wrathfulness, [saith, ] He will not require, There is no God [in] all his plans.
5 Ọ̀nà rẹ̀ ń gún régé nígbà gbogbo; òun ń gbéraga, òfin rẹ̀ sì jìnnà sí i; òun kẹ́gàn àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ̀.
Prosperous are his ways at all times; far in the height [remain] thy punishments away from him: all his assailants—he puffeth at them.
6 O wí fún ara rẹ̀, “Kò sí ohun tí ó lè mì mí. Inú mi yóò máa dùn nígbà gbogbo, èmi kò sì ní ní wàhálà.”
He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; I shall be for many generations, and without adversity.
7 Ẹnu rẹ̀ kún fún ègún àti irọ́ àti ìtànjẹ; wàhálà àti ohun búburú wà lábẹ́ ahọ́n rẹ̀.
Of the false oaths is his mouth full, and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.
8 Ó lúgọ ní bùba nítòsí ìletò. Ò gọ níbi ìkọ̀kọ̀ láti pa aláìṣẹ̀. Ojú rẹ̀ ń ṣọ́ àwọn tálákà ní ìkọ̀kọ̀.
He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes search for the unfortunate.
9 Ó ba ní ní bùba bí i kìnnìún nínú pàǹtí; Ó ba ní bùba láti mú àwọn aláìní ìrànwọ́; ó mú àwọn aláìlólùrànlọ́wọ́, ó sì wọ́ wọn lọ sínú àwọ̀n rẹ̀.
He lieth in wait in a secret place like a lion in his den; he lieth in wait to snatch up the poor: he snatcheth up the poor, as they draweth him into his net.
10 Ó ba, ó rẹ ara rẹ̀ sílẹ̀; kí tálákà ba à le bọ́ sí ọwọ́ agbára rẹ̀.
He croucheth, he bendeth himself, and the unfortunate fall through his might.
11 Ó wí fún ara rẹ̀, “Ọlọ́run ti gbàgbé; Ó pa ojú rẹ̀ mọ́, òun kì yóò rí i láéláé.”
He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten; he hath hidden his face; he will never see it.
12 Dìde, Olúwa! Gbé ọwọ́ rẹ sókè, Ọlọ́run. Má ṣe gbàgbé àwọn olùpọ́njú.
Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted.
13 Èéṣe tí ènìyàn búburú ṣe ń kẹ́gàn Ọlọ́run? Èéṣe tí o fi wí nínú ọkàn ara rẹ̀, “Kò ní pè mí láti ṣe ìṣirò”?
For what doth the wicked despise God? [why] doth he say in his heart, Thou wilt not require it?
14 Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ, Ọlọ́run, ni ó rí wàhálà àti ìrora; Ìwọ rò láti fi sí ọwọ́ rẹ. Tálákà fi ara rẹ̀ jì fún ọ; Ìwọ ni olùrànlọ́wọ́ àwọn aláìní baba.
Thou hast seen it: for thou beholdest mischief and despiteful acts, to requite it with thy hand: unto thee the unfortunate committeth himself; unto the fatherless hast thou [ever] been a helper.
15 Ṣẹ́ apá àwọn ènìyàn búburú àti ènìyàn ibi; pè é láti wá ṣírò fún ìwà ìkà rẹ̀ tí a kò le è rí.
Break thou the arm of the wicked; and of the bad man—thou wilt inquire for his wickedness [till] thou find none.
16 Olúwa ń jẹ ọba láé àti láéláé; àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè yóò ṣègbé lórí ilé rẹ.
The Lord is King for ever and ever: nations are perished out of his land.
17 Ìwọ́ gbọ́, Olúwa, ìfẹ́ àwọn tí a ni lára; Ìwọ gbà wọ́n níyànjú, ó sì gbọ́ igbe wọn,
The longing of the afflicted dost thou hear, O Lord! thou wilt strengthen their heart, thou wilt cause thy ear to listen:
18 láti ṣe ìdájọ́ àwọn aláìní baba àti àwọn ti a ni lára, kí ọkùnrin, tí ó wà ní ayé, kí ó má ṣe dẹ́rùbà ni mọ́.
To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that not farther more shall be arrogant the mortal from the earth.
