< Proverbs 9 >
1 Ọgbọ́n ti kọ́ ilé rẹ̀, ó ti gbẹ́ òpó o rẹ̀ méjèèjì,
Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 ó ti fi ilé pọn tí, ó ti fọ̀nà rokà. Ó sì ti ṣètò o tábìlì oúnjẹ rẹ̀
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 ó ti rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin rẹ̀ jáde, ó sì ń pè, láti ibi tí ó ga jù láàrín ìlú.
She hath sent forth her maidens, she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 “Jẹ́ kí gbogbo àwọn aláìgbọ́n wọ ibí wá!” Ó ń wí fún àwọn tí kò lọ́gbọ́n pé,
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,
5 “Wá, ẹ wá jẹ́ oúnjẹ mi sì mu wáìnì tí mo ti pò.
Come, eat ye of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Fi ìwà àìmọ̀kan rẹ sílẹ̀ ìwọ yóò sì yè; rìn ní ọ̀nà òye.
Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; and walk in the way of understanding.
7 “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá bá ẹlẹ́gàn wí, kọ lẹ́tà sí àbùkù ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá bá ẹni búburú wí kọ lẹ́tà sí èébú.
He that correcteth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that reproveth a wicked man [getteth] himself a blot.
8 Má ṣe bá ẹlẹ́gàn wí, àìṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ yóò kórìíra rẹ. Bá ọlọ́gbọ́n wí yóò sì fẹ́ràn rẹ;
Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 kọ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn lẹ́kọ̀ọ́, yóò sì gbọ́n sí i kọ́ olódodo ènìyàn lẹ́kọ̀ọ́, yóò sì fi kún ìmọ̀ rẹ̀.
Give [instruction] to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
10 “Ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa ni ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ ọgbọ́n, ìmọ̀ nípa Ẹni Mímọ́ ni òye.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 Nítorí nípasẹ̀ mi ọjọ́ rẹ yóò gùn ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ọdún yóò sì kún ọjọ́ ayé rẹ.
For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 Bí ìwọ bá gbọ́n, ọgbọ́n rẹ yóò fún ọ ní èrè: bí ìwọ bá jẹ́ ẹlẹ́gàn, ìwọ nìkan ni yóò jìyà.”
If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself: and if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13 Òmùgọ̀ obìnrin jẹ́ aláriwo; ó jẹ́ aláìlẹ́kọ̀ọ́ àti aláìní ìmọ̀.
The foolish woman is clamorous; [she is] simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 Ó jókòó ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà ilé rẹ̀ lórí ìjókòó níbi tí ó ga jù láàrín ìlú,
And she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 ó ń pe àwọn tí ó ń kọjá lọ, tí wọn ń lọ tààrà ní ọ̀nà wọn.
To call to them that pass by, who go right on their ways,
16 “Jẹ́ kí gbogbo ẹni tí ó jẹ́ aláìlóye súnmọ́ bí!” Ni ó wí fún ẹni tí òye kù díẹ̀ ká à tó fún.
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,
17 “Omi tí a jí mu dùn oúnjẹ tí a jẹ ní ìkọ̀kọ̀ a máa ládùn!”
Stolen waters are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secret is pleasant.
18 Ṣùgbọ́n wọn ò funra pé àwọn òkú wà níbẹ̀, pé àwọn àlejò rẹ̀ wà ní ìsàlẹ̀ ilẹ̀ isà òkú. (Sheol )
But he knoweth not that the dead are there; that her guests are in the depths of Sheol. (Sheol )
