< Proverbs 8 >

1 Ǹjẹ́ ọgbọ́n kò ha ń kígbe síta? Òye kò ha ń gbé ohùn rẹ sókè?
Doth not wisdom call? And understanding give forth her voice?
2 Ní ibi gíga ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ ọ̀nà, ní ìkóríta, ní ó dúró;
At the head of high places by the way, Between the paths she hath stood,
3 ní ẹgbẹ́ ibodè tí ó wọ ìlú, ní ẹnu ibodè ni ó ń kígbe sókè:
At the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she crieth aloud,
4 “Sí i yín ẹ̀yin ènìyàn, ní mo ń kígbe pè; mo gbé ohun mi sókè sí gbogbo ènìyàn.
'Unto you, O men, I call, And my voice [is] unto the sons of men.
5 Ẹ̀yin aláìmọ̀kan, ẹ kọ́gbọ́n; ẹ̀yin aṣiwèrè, ẹ gba òye.
Understand, ye simple ones, prudence, And ye fools, understand the heart,
6 Ẹ gbọ́, nítorí tí èmi ó sọ̀rọ̀ ohun iyebíye; Èmí ṣí ètè mi láti sọ ohun tí ó tọ́,
Hearken, for noble things I speak, And the opening of my lips [is] uprightness.
7 ẹnu mi ń sọ ohun tí í ṣe òtítọ́, nítorí ètè mi kórìíra ibi.
For truth doth my mouth utter, And an abomination to my lips [is] wickedness.
8 Gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu mi ni ó tọ́, kò sí èyí tí ó jẹ́ ẹ̀tàn tàbí àyídáyidà níbẹ̀.
In righteousness [are] all the sayings of my mouth, Nothing in them is froward and perverse.
9 Fún olóye gbogbo rẹ̀ ni ó tọ̀nà; wọ́n jẹ́ aláìlẹ́gàn fún gbogbo ẹni tí ó ní ìmọ̀.
All of them [are] plain to the intelligent, And upright to those finding knowledge.
10 Yan ẹ̀kọ́ mi dípò fàdákà, ìmọ̀ dípò o wúrà àṣàyàn,
Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 nítorí ọgbọ́n ṣe iyebíye jù iyùn lọ, kò sí ohun tí ọkàn rẹ̀ fẹ́ tí a sì le fiwé e.
For better [is] wisdom than rubies, Yea, all delights are not comparable with it.
12 “Èmi, ọgbọ́n ń gbé pẹ̀lú òye; mo ní ìmọ̀ àti ọgbọ́n-inú.
I, wisdom, have dwelt with prudence, And a knowledge of devices I find out.
13 Ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa ni ìkórìíra ibi mo kórìíra ìgbéraga àti agídí, ìwà ibi àti ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀tàn.
The fear of Jehovah [is] to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, And a froward mouth, I have hated.
14 Ìmọ̀ràn àti ọgbọ́n tí ó yè kooro jẹ́ tèmi mo ní òye àti agbára.
Mine [is] counsel and substance, I [am] understanding, I have might.
15 Nípasẹ̀ mi ni ọba ń ṣàkóso tí àwọn aláṣẹ sì ń ṣe òfin tí ó dára.
By me kings reign, and princes decree righteousness,
16 Nípasẹ̀ mi àwọn ọmọ-aládé ń ṣàkóso, àti gbogbo ọlọ́lá tí ń ṣàkóso ilẹ̀ ayé.
By me do chiefs rule, and nobles, All judges of the earth.
17 Mo fẹ́ràn àwọn tí ó fẹ́ràn mi, àwọn tí ó sì wá mi rí mi.
I love those loving me, And those seeking me earnestly do find me.
18 Lọ́dọ̀ mi ni ọrọ̀ àti ọlá wà, ọrọ̀ tí í tọ́jọ́ àti ìgbéga rere.
Wealth and honour [are] with me, Lasting substance and righteousness.
19 Èso mi dára ju wúrà dáradára lọ; ohun tí mò ń mú wá ju àṣàyàn fàdákà lọ.
Better [is] my fruit than gold, even fine gold, And mine increase than choice silver.
20 Mò ń rìn ní ọ̀nà òdodo, ní ojú ọ̀nà òtítọ́,
In a path of righteousness I cause to walk, In midst of paths of judgment,
21 mò ń fi ọrọ̀ fún gbogbo àwọn tí ó fẹ́ràn mi mo sì ń mú kí ilé ìṣúra wọn kún.
To cause my lovers to inherit substance, Yea, their treasures I fill.
22 “Èmi ni Olúwa kọ́kọ́ dá nínú iṣẹ́ rẹ̀. Ṣáájú àwọn iṣẹ́ rẹ̀ àtijọ́;
Jehovah possessed me — the beginning of His way, Before His works since then.
23 a ti yàn mí láti ayérayé, láti ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ pẹ̀pẹ̀, kí ayé tó bẹ̀rẹ̀.
From the age I was anointed, from the first, From former states of the earth.
24 Nígbà tí kò tí ì sí Òkun, ni a ti bí mi, nígbà tí kò tí ì sí ìsun tí ó ní omi nínú;
In there being no depths, I was brought forth, In there being no fountains heavy [with] waters,
25 kí a tó fi àwọn òkè sí ipò wọn, ṣáájú àwọn òkè ni a ti bí mi,
Before mountains were sunk, Before heights, I was brought forth.
26 kí ó tó dá ilẹ̀ ayé tàbí àwọn oko rẹ̀ tàbí èyíkéyìí nínú eruku ayé.
While He had not made the earth, and out-places, And the top of the dusts of the world.
27 Mo wà níbẹ̀ nígbà tí ó fi àwọn ọ̀run sí ipò wọn, nígbà tí ó fi òsùwọ̀n àyíká sórí ibú omi,
In His preparing the heavens I [am] there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,
28 nígbà tí ó ṣẹ̀dá òfúrufú lókè tí ó sì fi orísun ibú omi sí ipò rẹ̀ láì le è yẹsẹ̀,
In His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,
29 nígbà tí ó ṣe ààlà fún omi Òkun kí omi má ba à kọjá ààlà àṣẹ rẹ̀, àti nígbà tí ó pààlà ìpìlẹ̀ ayé.
In His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters transgress not His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,
30 Nígbà náà èmi ni gbẹ́nàgbẹ́nà ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀ mo kún fún inú dídùn lójoojúmọ́, mo ń yọ̀ nígbà gbogbo níwájú rẹ̀.
Then I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight — day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,
31 Mo ń yọ̀ nínú gbogbo àgbáyé tí ó dá mo sì ní inú dídùn sí àwọn ọmọ ènìyàn.
Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights [are] with the sons of men.
32 “Nítorí náà báyìí, ẹ̀yin ọmọ mi, ìbùkún ni fún àwọn tí ó pa ọ̀nà mi mọ́.
And now, ye sons, hearken to me, Yea, happy are they who keep my ways.
33 Fetí sí ìtọ́sọ́nà mi kí o sì gbọ́n; má ṣe pa á tì sápá kan.
Hear instruction, and be wise, and slight not.
34 Ìbùkún ni fún ẹni tí ó fetísílẹ̀ sí mi, tí ń ṣọ́nà ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà mi lójoojúmọ́, tí ń dúró ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà mi.
O the happiness of the man hearkening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the door-posts of my entrance.
35 Nítorí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá rí mi rí ìyè ó sì rí ojúrere gbà lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa.
For whoso is finding me, hath found life, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.
36 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá kọ̀ láti rí ń pa ara rẹ̀ lára gbogbo ẹni tí ó kórìíra mi fẹ́ ikú.”
And whoso is missing me, is wronging his soul, All hating me have loved death!
