< Proverbs 27 >

1 Má ṣe yangàn nítorí ọ̀la nítorí o kò mọ ohun tí ọjọ́ kan le è mú wáyé.
Boast not yourself of tomorrow; for you know not what a day may bring forth.
2 Jẹ́ kí ẹlòmíràn yìn ọ́ dípò ẹnu ara rẹ, àní àlejò, kí ó má sì ṣe ètè ìwọ fúnra rẹ̀.
Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
3 Òkúta wúwo, erùpẹ̀ sì wúwo ṣùgbọ́n ìbínú aṣiwèrè wúwo ju méjèèjì lọ.
A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
4 Ìbínú ni ìkà, ìrunú sì burú púpọ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ta ni ó le è dúró níwájú owú?
Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
5 Ìbániwí gbangba sàn ju ìfẹ́ ìkọ̀kọ̀ lọ.
Open rebuke is better than secret love.
6 Òtítọ́ ni ọgbẹ́ ọ̀rẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n ìfẹnukonu ọ̀tá ni ẹ̀tàn.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
7 Kódà oyin kò dùn lẹ́nu ẹni tí ó ti yó ṣùgbọ́n òróǹró gan an dùn lẹ́nu ẹni tí ebi ń pa.
The full soul loathes an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8 Bí ẹyẹ tí ó ṣáko lọ kúrò níbi ìtẹ́ rẹ̀ ni ènìyàn tí ó ṣáko lọ kúrò ní ilé rẹ̀.
As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man that wanders from his place.
9 Ìpara olóòórùn dídùn àti tùràrí ń mú ayọ̀ wá sínú ọkàn bẹ́ẹ̀ ni inú dídùn láti ọ̀dọ̀ ọ̀rẹ́ ń wá láti inú ìmọ̀ràn tí ó ṣàkóso.
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so does the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
10 Má ṣe kọ ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ àti ọ̀rẹ́ baba rẹ sílẹ̀, má sì ṣe lọ sílé arákùnrin rẹ nígbà tí ìdààmú dé bá ọ ó sàn kí o jẹ́ aládùúgbò tí ó súnmọ́ ni ju arákùnrin tí ó jìnnà sí ni.
your own friend, and your father's friend, forsake not; neither go into your brother's house in the day of your calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
11 Gbọ́n, ọmọ mi, kí o sì mú ayọ̀ wá sínú ọkàn mi nígbà náà ni mo le dá gbogbo ẹni tí ó bá kẹ́gàn mi.
My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproaches me.
12 Ọlọ́gbọ́n rí ewu, ó sì fi ara pamọ́ ṣùgbọ́n aláìgbọ́n rí, kàkà kí ó dúró ó tẹ̀síwájú, ó sì jìyà rẹ̀.
A prudent man forsees the evil, and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
13 Gba aṣọ ẹni tí ó ṣe onídùúró fún àjèjì fi ṣe ẹ̀rí ìdúró bí o bá ṣe onídùúró fún obìnrin oníṣekúṣe.
Take his garment that is guarantor for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
14 Bí ènìyàn kan ń kígbe súre fún aládùúgbò rẹ ní òwúrọ̀ a ó kà á sí bí èpè.
He that blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
15 Àyà tí ó máa ń jà dàbí ọ̀wààrà òjò ní ọjọ́ tí òjò ń rọ̀;
A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
16 dídá a lẹ́kun dàbí ìgbà tí ènìyàn ń dá afẹ́fẹ́ lẹ́kun tàbí bí ẹni tí ó gbá òróró.
Whosoever hides her hides the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which betrayed itself.
17 Bí irin tí ń pọ́n irin mú bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ènìyàn kan ń pọ́n ẹlòmíràn mú.
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
18 Ẹni tí ó tọ́jú igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ yóò jẹ èso rẹ̀ ẹni tí ó sì fojú tó ọ̀gá rẹ̀ yóò gba ọlá.
Whoso keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waits on his master shall be honoured.
19 Bí omi tí ń ṣe àfihàn ojú, nígbà tí a bá wò ó bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọkàn ènìyàn ń ṣe àfihàn ènìyàn.
As in water face answers to face, so the heart of man to man.
20 Kò tẹ́ ikú àti ìparun lọ́rùn rí bẹ́ẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ni ojú ènìyàn kò rí ìtẹ́lọ́rùn rí. (Sheol h7585)
Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
21 Iná fún fàdákà iná ìléru fún wúrà, ṣùgbọ́n a ń dán ènìyàn wò nípa ìyìn tí ó ń gbà.
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
22 Bí a tilẹ̀ gún aláìgbọ́n nínú odó, fi ọmọ odó gún un bí èlùbọ́ ìwọ kì yóò le è yọ ìwà òmùgọ̀ rẹ̀ kúrò ní inú rẹ̀.
Though you should bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
23 Rí i dájú pé o mọ ipò tí àwọn agbo àgùntàn rẹ wà bojútó àwọn agbo màlúù rẹ dáradára;
Be you diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds.
24 nítorí ọrọ̀ kì í pẹ́ lọ títí adé kì í sì í wà lórí títí láéláé.
For riches are not for ever: and does the crown endure to every generation?
25 Nígbà tí a bá kó koríko, ewéko tuntun yóò sì hù jáde, a ó sì kó koríko àwọn orí òkè wọlé
The hay appears, and the tender grass shows itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
26 àwọn àgùntàn yóò pèsè aṣọ fún ọ, àti ewúrẹ́ yóò pèsè owó oko.
The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
27 Ìwọ yóò ní ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ wàrà ewúrẹ́ láti bọ́ ọ àti ìdílé rẹ àti láti tọ́jú àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin rẹ.
And you shall have goats' milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance for your maidens.
