< Proverbs 24 >

1 Má ṣe ṣe ìlara àwọn ènìyàn búburú má ṣe jẹ́ kí àwùjọ wọn wù ọ́;
Do not be envious of those who are evil, nor desire to associate with them,
2 nítorí ọkàn wọn ń gbèrò ohun búburú, ètè wọn sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ nípa dídá rúgúdù sílẹ̀.
because their hearts plot violence and their lips talk about trouble.
3 Nípa ọgbọ́n ni ilé di kíkọ́ nípa òye sì ni ó ti fìdímúlẹ̀;
Through wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established.
4 nípa ìmọ̀ ni àwọn yàrá rẹ̀ kún pẹ̀lú àwọn ohun ọ̀ṣọ́ tí ó lẹ́wà tí ó sì ṣọ̀wọ́n.
By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 Ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn ní agbára púpọ̀, ènìyàn tí ó ní ìmọ̀ sì ń ní agbára sí i.
A warrior of wisdom is strong, and a man of knowledge increases his strength;
6 Láti jagun, ó nílò ìtọ́sọ́nà: nínú ìṣẹ́gun ni ọ̀pọ̀ onígbìmọ̀.
for by wise direction you can wage your war and with many advisors there is victory.
7 Ọgbọ́n ga ju fún aṣiwèrè àti gbọ̀ngàn ìlú níbi ibodè kò ní ohun tí yóò wí.
Wisdom is too high for a fool; in the gate he does not open his mouth.
8 Ẹni tí ń pète ibi ni a ó mọ̀ bí ènìyàn ibi.
There is one who plans to do evil— people call him a master of schemes.
9 Ète òmùgọ̀ ènìyàn jẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn sì kórìíra ẹlẹ́gàn.
A foolish plan is sin and men despise a mocker.
10 Bí ìwọ bá dákú lásìkò ìdààmú báwo ni agbára rẹ ha ti kéré tó!
If you become weak with fear in the day of trouble, then your strength is small.
11 Gba àwọn tí a ń wọ́ lọ sí ibi ikú là; fa àwọn tó ń ta gbọ̀nọ́ngbọ̀nọ́n lọ sí ibi ìparun padà.
Rescue those who are being taken away to death and hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter.
12 Bí ìwọ bá wí pé, “Ṣùgbọ́n a kò mọ nǹkan kan nípa èyí,” ǹjẹ́ ẹni tí ń díwọ̀n ọkàn kò kíyèsi i? Ǹjẹ́ ẹni tí ń ṣọ́ ẹ̀mí rẹ kò mọ̀ ọ́n? Ǹjẹ́ kò ní san án fún ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan gẹ́gẹ́ bí ohun tí ó ti ṣe?
If you say, “Behold, we knew nothing about this,” does not the one who weighs the heart understand what you are saying? The one who guards your life, does he not know it? Will God not give to each one what he deserves?
13 Jẹ oyin, ìwọ ọmọ mi, nítorí tí ó dára, oyin láti inú afárá oyin dùn lẹ́nu.
My son, eat honey because it is good, because the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste.
14 Mọ̀ pẹ̀lú pé ọgbọ́n pẹ̀lú dùn fún ọkàn rẹ bí ìwọ bá rí i ìrètí ọjọ́ iwájú wà fún ọ ìrètí rẹ kì yóò sì já ṣófo.
Such is wisdom for your soul— if you find it, there will be a future and your hope will not be cut off.
15 Má ṣe ba ní ibùba bí ènìyàn búburú láti gba ibùjókòó olódodo, má ṣe fi ibi ìsinmi rẹ̀ ṣe ìjẹ;
Do not lie in wait like the wicked person who attacks the house of the righteous person. Do not destroy his home!
16 nítorí bí olódodo ènìyàn bá tilẹ̀ ṣubú ní ìgbà méje, yóò tún padà dìde sá á ni, ṣùgbọ́n ìdààmú yóò fa ènìyàn búburú lulẹ̀.
For the righteous person falls down seven times and rises again, but wicked people are brought down by calamity.
17 Má ṣe yọ̀ nígbà tí ọ̀tá rẹ bá ṣubú; nígbà tí ó bá kọsẹ̀, má ṣe jẹ́ kí ọkàn rẹ kí ó yọ̀.
Do not celebrate when your enemy falls and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles,
18 Àìṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ Olúwa yóò rí i yóò sì bínú yóò sì yí ìbínú rẹ̀ padà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
or Yahweh will see and disapprove and turn away his wrath from him.
19 Má ṣe fòyà nítorí àwọn ènìyàn ibi tàbí jowú àwọn ènìyàn búburú,
Do not worry because of evildoers, and do not envy wicked people,
20 nítorí ẹni ibi kò ní ìrètí ọjọ́ iwájú a ó sì pa fìtílà àwọn ènìyàn búburú kú.
for the evil person has no future and the lamp of wicked people will go out.
21 Bẹ̀rù Olúwa àti ọba, ọmọ mi, má sì ṣe darapọ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn olórí kunkun.
Fear Yahweh, and fear the king, my son; do not associate with those who rebel against them,
22 Nítorí àwọn méjèèjì yóò rán ìparun òjijì sórí wọn, ta ni ó sì mọ irú ìyọnu tí wọ́n lè mú wá?
for suddenly their disaster will come and who knows the extent of the destruction that will come from both of them?
23 Àwọn wọ̀nyí pẹ̀lú tún jẹ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ọlọ́gbọ́n: láti ṣe ojúsàájú níbi ìdájọ́ kò dára rárá.
These also are sayings of the wise. Partiality in judging a case at law is not good.
24 Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó wí fún ẹlẹ́bi pé, “Ìwọ lo jàre,” àwọn ènìyàn yóò ṣẹ́ èpè fún un àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè yóò sì kọ̀ ọ́.
Whoever says to the wicked person, “You are a righteous person,” will be cursed by peoples and hated by nations.
25 Ṣùgbọ́n yóò dára fún àwọn tí ń dá ẹlẹ́bi lẹ́bi, ọ̀pọ̀ ìbùkún yóò sì wá sórí wọn.
But those who discipline the wicked will have delight and gifts of goodness will come to them.
26 Ìdáhùn òtítọ́ dàbí ìfẹnukoni ní ẹnu.
The one who gives an honest answer gives a kiss on the lips.
27 Parí gbogbo iṣẹ́ ajé rẹ sì rí i pé oko rẹ ti ṣe dáradára; lẹ́yìn náà kọ́ ilé rẹ.
Prepare your outdoor work, and make everything ready for yourself in the field; after that, build your house.
28 Má ṣe rojọ́ èké mọ́ aládùúgbò rẹ láìnídìí, tàbí kí o fi ètè rẹ tannijẹ.
Do not bear witness against your neighbor without cause and do not deceive with your lips.
29 Má ṣe wí pé, “Èmi yóò ṣe é fún un gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe fún mi; Èmi yóò san ohun tí ó ṣe fún mi padà fún un.”
Do not say, “I will do to him what he has done to me; I will pay him back for what he has done.”
30 Mo kọjá níbi oko ọ̀lẹ, mo kọjá níbi ọgbà àjàrà aláìgbọ́n ènìyàn;
I went by the field of a lazy man, past the vineyard of the man having no sense.
31 ẹ̀gún ti hù ní ibi gbogbo, koríko ti gba gbogbo oko náà.
Thorns had grown up everywhere, the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
32 Mo fi ọkàn mi sí nǹkan tí mo kíyèsi mo sì kẹ́kọ̀ọ́ lára ohun tí mo rí;
Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction.
33 oorun díẹ̀, òògbé díẹ̀, ìkáwọ́gbera díẹ̀ láti sinmi,
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 òsì yóò sì dé bá ọ bí adigunjalè àti àìní bí olè.
and poverty comes marching upon you, and your needs like an armed soldier.
